Region 1 - Well worth working for it

Advantages: more films, quicker, cheaper
Disadvantages: hassle to sort out multiregion capabilities (sometimes)

...If you have got, or are thinking of buying, a DVD player, then no doubt you will have a fair picture of what I am talking about when I mention Region 1 and Region 2. Because of stupid copyright and distribution laws and policies, when a film is released on DVD, it is coded so that it will only work in one of six worldwide regions. The ones that most come into play are Region 1 (USA) and Region 2 (Europe and Asia, including the UK of course). So if you went into a shop and bought a DVD player, you could then only purchase films from Britain, else they simply wouldn't work on your player. NCIS - Season 1 DVD - Region 2 version

Advantages: Fast paced action with liberal doses of humour
Disadvantages: No extras on the region 2 version, boo...

...I first came across the TV series NCIS whilst working abroad. Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec

Advantages: A great car from all angles
Disadvantages: Not as many extras included as I would have liked

...I am now the proud owner of a ford focus 1.6 zetec and for the first time in many years I have actually found a car that pretty muc suits all my needs. I have spent many a time in cars that are too big, too small, not suitable, not comfortable etc but this is everything I could ask for. I own the three door version but the doors open widely and when the front seat is moved forward there is plenty of room to get anyone in the back, even my mother in law who is disabled. The back of this car is extremely spacious, comfortably fitting 3 large adults in. The boot size is deceiving in that it looks pretty small but is very spacious indeed. Perfect for all those shopping bags as well as a childs pushchair. The actual drive of this car is superb. Mine runs on unleaded and is very economical. I can get over 200 miles to £35...

UPDATED 110101-Extras on Region 1

Advantages: great movie, great plot, all the greatness!
Disadvantages: none

...'ve seen so far. On top of that, you get all these special features that you can watch again, and again, and again:(it never bore you, this I can guarantee!): 1. HBO first look special: Making the Matrix 2. Follow the White Rabbit and Take the Red Pills for more mysterious, mind bending effects 3. Filmographies 4. Scene Access 5. all the standard features of a DVD It also boost a lot of extras in terms of its DVD-ROM contents. But, apparently, the region 1 packs an extra footage of some scenes that are too violent for the region 2 viewers. It's really not a big deal, but, if you really are The Matrix fan, then I'd recommend you to buy the Region 1 version. Ford Focus 1.6 - Shocking!!

Advantages: Handling and Looks

...Two years ago I decided to buy a brand new car, and after much research I decided upon the Ford Focus 1.6 (old style now). Everything I had read pointed towards a really good choice. So I went into my local Ford dealer and a week later I had my nice new car. First thoughts were a good looking car, well built, fantastically smooth to drive, held the roads amazingly well. All of the equipment worked wonderfully well and I absolutley loved my new car. Then the problems began.... After two weeks the Airbag Modulator failed, so I went back to the dealer, and they replaced the faulty part within a few days. They wouldn't let me have a courtesy cat so was left hanging around the dealers for a few hours. All work was under warranty so no cost to me. Three weeks after the Modulator fault I was washing the car and noticed tiny rust spots...

Region 1 DVDs - Cheap As Well

Advantages: Region 1 DVD's, great prices and a very easy to use site.
Disadvantages: Email response is slow, not as big a stock list as some places.

Having seen the general vastness in quality of USA Discs compared to our own UK Region 2 releases, I really wanted to get one. Eventually I went to Florida on holiday, and came back with 3. Focus 1.6 - A fun stylish serious car.

Advantages: Comfortable, spacious for passengers, driver and lugage. Nippy and stylish.
Disadvantages: Its not the ST170 and its not the RS.

...My 1.6 is one of the late early 2001 models and it is a pleasure to drive it was second hand and had two previous owners, I'm not sure how they treated it but when I picked it up it was in pristine condition which to me says that it is a fairly hardwearing car. Its smooth lines and contours make for a slightly sporty look as well as the memories of the Rally focus in all its glory tearing up the WRC. It is a very smooth ride with fantastic handling so if you are a little heavy on the peddle it has the strength to compensate. Acceleration is good and you through the range of the 5 speed gear box, and at the other end of the scale the brakes are hot too mine only has discs on the front and Drums on the back but there is plenty there to slow down the 125 horses that kick out of the engine. Advantages: Ease of use , smooth gear changes , good price

...plus Ford give you 1 weeks Free Insurance with the car to allow you to sort out your own insurance (Ford did quote as well , over £300 more than i currently pay !!!). Great value for money and in the short time i've had it a pleasure to drive....

...dvdmod.com is a great site for buying region 1 DVD films. Region 1 disks are from America which means they are cheaper and new films are released several months before they are released here in England. So you can watch films on DVD almost the same time as they are on in the cinema. You need to make sure you have a DVD player capable fo playing region 1 disks, as they will not work in normal DVD players. The web sire offers search facilities by title and actor, and gives a summary of each title. It is also useful in telling you what additional features are on each disk. You do have to pay for postage, but it is not musch and you will find that the prices for American discs are nearly always cheaper than British versions, as well as containing more extra features.
