...think we had a great deal but would still have booked this hotel because it is within walking distance to many monuments and also within easy access to the metro. Conclusion = It was a nice, quiet hotel that is not too pricey. I would have like some other basic facilities such as a kettle and tea within the room as well as a hair dryer. A friendly staffed hotel

Advantages: Clean, comfortable, helpful staff
Disadvantages: None!

...chocolate etc. However on another note, do be careful as the driving in Rome is very fast and often wreckless and drivers do not always stop to let pedestrians cross the roads. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. The rooms were clean and air-conditioned and the atmosphere was very friendly. I would strongly recommend the Relais Vaticano hotel for short stays....

Budget stay to spend most time outside the hotel

Advantages: Close to the Metro station, 2 stops away from the Bastille, lively surroundings, plenty of local shops
Disadvantages: Very basic and functional, small with tatty decor, scary lift

The undiscovered Normandy

Advantages: Relatively unknown to English tourists
Disadvantages: I can't think of any

...Relais Normand), past the beautiful Saint-Saens golf club which is reputed to be one of the most scenic courses in the whole of France and eventually flows into the sea near Dieppe on the Cote d'Albatre. The beautiful Foret d'Eawy (the second largest beech forest in France after that of Lyons-la-Foret) rises up from the valley and many varied routes are clearly signposted to enable both the walker and cyclist to take advantage of the scenery and possibly spot a deer or wild boar roaming freely. The coast itself was a favourite of many artists and Monet painted a series of his favourite coastal views reflecting the ever-changing light on the cliffs at Pourville sur Mer and Varengeville. The artist Georges Braque designed the stained glass window which decorates the church at Varengeville, perched high on the cliffs with a magnificent view...

...hotel, The Relais de Paris Cambronne, I was getting 3 nights for the price of 2, and breakfast. All these with the train tickets for 164 pounds per person. I thought ... not a bad deal. After confirming with my husband, I decided to book the holiday, only problem was I have forgotten the name of the hotel. Having mention a hotel near the Eiffel Tower for 164 pounds, a different operator from Eurostar holiday was able to pinpoint the same hotel for me very quickly. She also informed me that, because its the low season, we were upgraded from standard class to first class. And she asked whether we wanted just two seats to ourselves or be seated in two longer rows. Beauty! Within a week of booking the holiday, I received my tickets and (wait for this) a Eurostar holiday Brussels City pack. This included street maps and a guidebook...

AGAY Experience in France

Advantages: An unspoilt backwater in a sea of development

...and ideal place for honeymooners of which there were quite a few when we were there. There were a high number of Middle Eastern and Japanese guests while we were there. They offer short stay and long stays and special deals.   Hum-BLED by the perfect Alpine setting

Advantages: Beautful scenery, kremsnita, plenty for children and adults
Disadvantages: Crowds and traffic on busy days, not cheapest food, lack of self-catering accommodation

...had a summer house here, which is now the Relais and Chateaux Hotel Vila Bled overlooking the west end of the lake. = WHAT IS THERE TO SEE? = The obvious things to see are the lake and the castle. The lake is not particularly big (at its longest and widest 2.12km by 1.38km, maximum depth 30.6m), but is very scenic with an island in the middle. For reasons of space, I shall describe the lake, island and the traditional boats (pletna) in a separate review (scope for more pictures as well). The castle sits atop a 130m hill on the north side of the lake, and is reached by a road which snakes up the back. Entry is ?6 for adults and ?3 for children. Nature at Bay

.... * Where to stay * As always in France, there are numerous hotels, chambres d'hôtes (B&B equivalents), flats to rent and campsites in the area. In St Valery, I have stayed at: ~ ~ Le Relais Guillaume de Normandy, a tall, turreted edifice in Normandy-Gothic style, which on a stormy night would serve admirably as a set for a horror movie. Inside, though, the rooms are quite conventional, and some have a splendid outlook across the bay. The food is good and reasonably priced. Rooms are 62-80? (c£50-65). A word of caution, though: the management seem very reluctant to take bookings for one-night-only stays, unless they are running out of time late in the afternoon to fill that night's vacancies, which might be a bit of a gamble at busy times. ~ The Picardia, almost next door, but back from the front.
