...So, like every other woman/girl I love GHD's-I used a friend's once and was hooked-hers were a gift, but they cost from £95 from selected hair salons. Kept umming and ahhing whether to fork out for some, in the meantime used other people's! When I was getting ready to go out one night, a friend had brought Remington 2x ceramic straightners round-I used these and could not tell the difference between GHD'S. Ok, these cost around £49.99 and you can get them from anywhere-Argos, Index etc. They heat up in around 10 seconds-it's only a few seconds more than GHD's anyway! They have ceramic plated irons, and are fairly slim, they have an on/off sliding button, and a red light appears when they are switched on-the only downfal about these straighteners is that when you are using them, your thumb may turn them off again, but this...

Remington Wet 2 Straight Hair - Without the Need to Dry First

Advantages: No need to use the hairdryer before straightening, wide plates ideal for long, thick hair
Disadvantages: Wouldn't recommend using these every single time, heat protection spray must be used

I told her that my sister's wedding was coming up and I'd really like to take control of my hair so that it looked half decent for the photographs. REMINGTON 2X PROTECTION

Advantages: Heat up very fast.
Disadvantages: People assume they're not as good as GHD.

I was very intrigued, but again, they were, and still are, ridiculous prices. So, I decided to try my straighteners out on my damp hair, after a brief towel-dry. Obviously, due to Health & Safety Regulations, I am not recommending this to anyone, but, I have been straightening my damp hair with my normal Remington 2X Protection straighteners for about 3 months now. Remington S9800 Straightners, much better than GHD

Advantages: Amazing straightners and 100% better than GHD amazing vakue for money!
Disadvantages: Unlike with GHD curling the hair is a little more difficult.

...I bought these straightners after the ones I had blown up on me (while halfway through straightening!!!!!). And so I had to promtly get some more, I refused to pay the prices of GHDs and they're not very reliable as after a year tend to blow. So i did some research and found these little beauties! They're Nano-diamond ceramic...which is better than plain ceramic plates. And they can use a range of temperatures from 130 degrees to 230 degrees which I think is great! They have a digital display and you can lock the plates in place for easy storage! Mine came with a heat protected bag and mat as well which is great! For £50 these straightners are amazing value for money!! And for some reason when you straighten your hair with them, it stays in...I straightened my whole head of very long and normally untamable hair yesterday for a job...

Going Straight

...I was given this Remington hair straightener as a present about a year ago. Before using these, I was using some Vidal Sasoon, non-ceramic straighteners. These took a long time to heat up (and when they did they weren't all that hot), and they did not actually make my hair any straighter! When I was given these, I don't think I actually used them for around 2 months, because I just expected that they would be exactly the same as my previous ones, and not make any difference to my hair. How wrong I was! I have very thick hair, which is very difficult to style, and although it's not naturally curly, it's not naturally straight either - it has a slight wave to it, and always seems to stick up, as there is a lot of volume near the roots, which just makes it look messy. Advantages: Heat up fast to provide great, straight hair!
Disadvantages: Still takes a while to straighten thick hair.

...I have had these straighteners for a couple of years now and I continue to be impressed by them. The model that I am referring to is the Remington S1002. This is a sleek, grey model with 9x3cm ceramic, Teflon-coated plates. There is a wheel on the side to allow you adjust the heat for different thicknesses of hair, a flip-down stand to allow you to rest the straighteners safely and an on-off switch on the top with an indicator light. I originally bought these straighteners from Argos a couple of years ago. Before then, I had some Phillips straighteners which were appalling! I have long, thick hair with a natural wave and it took about an hour to get my hair straight.
