Remington S9810 Genius Straighteners... not so Genius really!

Advantages: A digital display and the option to change the temperature.
Disadvantages: Poor quality and a horribly expensive price tag.

...I must admit I am a big fan of GHD hair straighteners. Ever since my Mum bought me a pair of them last Christmas I would never go back to any other brand. However I am a member of the Amazon Vine programme and I received a pair of these Remington Genius straighteners for free. Genius Straighteners? Remington state that if you want cutting edge technology that?s usually found in hair salons, then these are the straighteners for you. In fact, Celebrity Hairdresser of the Year, Steven Goldsworthy, goes as far as saying these are the Ferrari of all hair straighteners! Remington S9000

Advantages: temperature control, smooth plates
Disadvantages: age quickly, confusing controls

...With wavy hair, I haven't got ringlets to iron out, so the lower temperature settings on the Remington S9000 were perfect for me. To perfect styles, the higher temperatures work alright. The Remington S9000s aren't the best straighteners I have ever owned, after a year of use I can tell the difference between brand new and well used; unlike the GHD's I owned for 2 years! The smooth plates are kind to my hair, but with hairspray can become sticky - like most hair straighteners. The Remington S9000s are also quite difficult to programme to the right temperature, a simple 'hot' or 'cool' setting would have worked perfectly, but its like using a clothes iron on your hair! The Remington S9000s are also quite heavy, unlike the GHD's, so even though they straighten out my waves for a good few hours, I wouldn't recommend them to people...

...I got these hair straightener"s as a christmas present so I've been using them for just over 3 month's now, I asked for these as my present on the recommendation from my sister who said they were the best one's she's had so far, This is my third set of straightener's and since using them I've got to agree with her they're the best one's I've had. The difference with these straightener's to the other's I've owned is the fact that they can be used on wet hair eliminating the need of a hairdryer, which for me is a bonus as it saves time, and also drying with a hairdryer and then using a hot straightener puts your hair under double the stress not to mention getting yourself all hot and bothered! ...Out of the many makes of straightners out there i can tell you now that this make is a must to get if you are looking for the best. They can remove any kind of curl or frizz, from the frizziest of hair to the curliest of hair types no matter how thick. I should know i 'v had trouble with buying the right straightners in the past which have been unable to cope with my hair. The Remington S-9901 do what they say 'straighten'. It has an adjustable temerature setting ranging from 140-230, whichtakes only 6 seconds to heat up. Also has automatic turn off if left on. Has an extra lond lead with the added bonus of a swivel connection to the straightners, which makes them a lot easier to move whilst styling. Came with a heat proof bag and mat with hair clips. For value of money, I would say they are worth it....

Remington S 1002 - X2 Ceramic

Advantages: Great Hair Days

...The particular model that I am refering to in this review, are the Remington S1002 slim ceramic Teflon coated model. I originally bought these because they were only £35, assuming that they would just about do the job, as I really could not justify paying £100 for GHD straighteners. I thought that GHDs were just a craze, I must admit, it is a craze that has lasted, but I feel they have an unjustified high status. After using these straighteners for the first time, I knew that I had bought the right ones. My hair is kind of frizzy, but also quite oily, (that's hairdresser talk for greasy!). I have always bought straighteners that included a steamer, to moisturise my hair, which always just made it more frizzy. I grew really fed up of this, and cut it off, myself, into a short bob. Forget GHDs Remington's are FAST & Smooth...

Advantages: heat up fast, glides smoothly, ceramic plus Teflon coated, durable, 3 year warranty, safety carry case included and Excellent VALUE for money

...was attracted to the Hai stick is because it has a digitally controllable heat setting (which GHD' s do not have). If you're interested in the hai stik read starsally's excellent review on it. The price however, was too much for me again. Overall, the take home message from the popular GHD is that they are fine when they work but they do break and this fact is backed up by the fact that GHD only give the consumer a 1-year warranty. If a manufacturer was really sure about the durability of their product they would offer a warranty of at least 2 years which is not uncommon on electrical personal use items. Remington on the other hand give a substantial 3 year warranty and no manufacturer would give such a generous warranty if they were not sure of their product, would they? ...WOW, an amazing product which actually lives up to the expectation. It is perfect for fizzy hair and will easily smooth down an uncontrolled mane. After gliding it over strands of my wavy hair 3-4 times, my hair turns in to sllek and super straight in just a couple of minutes. The Remington works well on dry, damp or wet hair, but I prefer on damp hair as I feel it doesn't dry my hair out as much. The grip fits comfortably in my hand, making it a very easy tool to use. You will be relieved to know that it is a light product which doesn't tire your arms that easily. Be cautious not to put your hands over the steam outlets to prevent burning. It is a good idea to use a heat protector on your hair when you use hair straightners....
