...When considering buying my first ceramic straighteners I wasn't sure whether to buy an expensive, more professional pair, or to buy the cheapest I could find, to see if I could get on with them. I opted for the cheaper and cheerful pair. I found this product in the Avon catalogue for £9.99. The offer at the time was that it also came with free hair products (sleek shine spray and heat protection spray). I thought this was a good deal. Remington S9810 Genius Straighteners... not so Genius really!

Advantages: A digital display and the option to change the temperature.
Disadvantages: Poor quality and a horribly expensive price tag.

The Amazing Pink Straighteners!!

...A lot of people class GHDs as the top brand in straighteners, but as I had never used any GHDs before, I was slightly disbelieving as to their performance. REMINGTON 2X PROTECTION

Advantages: Heat up very fast.
Disadvantages: People assume they're not as good as GHD.

...The particular model that I am refering to in this review, are the Remington S1002 slim ceramic Teflon coated model. I originally bought these because they were only £35, assuming that they would just about do the job, as I really could not justify paying £100 for GHD straighteners. I thought that GHDs were just a craze, I must admit, it is a craze that has lasted, but I feel they have an unjustified high status. After using these straighteners for the first time, Iknew that I had bought the right ones. Myhair is kind of frizzy, but also quite oily, (that's hairdresser talk for greasy!). I have always bought straighteners that included a steamer, to moisturise my hair, which always just made it more frizzy. I grew really fed up of this, and cut it off, myself, into a short bob. PS3 slim

Advantages: Blu-ray, free online, nice extras like vidzone & iplayer. Almost silent operation
Disadvantages: Rubbish controller, still expensive, online nowhere near as good as xbox live

...Well, had the slim for a few weeks now (my 1st ever playstation), personally, I'm a little underwhelmed by it, I've been a gamer since the nintendo game & watch days & owned @ least 1 of the current gen consoles since the Mega Drive(Genesis). Graphically the system has the potential to wipe the floor with the 360, but this is really only going to apply to PS3 exclusives as any software house making a multi-platform game is going to be as cost effective (lazy) as possible & use the same graphics on all the games where possible(ok, they need to dumb them down for the Wii). My problem here is that I have yet to get a game for it that runs in 1080P, they all seem to be in 720P! Why???? I'm sure they are out there, but I haven't found one yet. I guess this is down to most HD tv's being HD ready rather than Full HD. Sound-Yeah, ok...

Excellent Straighteners & a Great Gift

Advantages: Durable, Perfect Straight Hair, So Simple To Use
Disadvantages: Don't use on wet hair it damages them

...I won't go into amazing detail as there are so many good reviews on here but i bought these for my girlfriend as she kept borrowing out her old GHD's which her friend seemed to ruin and she loves them. She is a hairdresser and swears by GHD she should actually just change jobs and promote them that?s how passionate and convincing she can be. And to quote her in some way - Yes they are more expensive than most of the other brands but unless you are really unlucky you will never need to own another pair of straighteners again as they are so good and durable. The fact that she can do hers & my hair in just one stoke achieving perfect straightness is amazing and after seeing others struggle and steam go flying into the hair i recommend you spend the extra pennies because it is worth it. They heat up in under twenty second- when the little red LED has stopped flashing they are ready to use and it also makes a funny noise to let you know when they are ready. The straighteners irons themselves are solid ceramic, not ceramic plated like most straighteners. This means an evenly hot distribution of heat through out the plates. They can get very hot and they heat uo to a maximum temperature of 210 degrees alowing them to produce a poker straight finish. To get the best result you shout section your hair into different parting and straighten it in sections it may take a little longer but will give you a better overall outcome. ...So, like every other woman/girl I love GHD's-I used a friend's once and was hooked-hers were a gift, but they cost from £95 from selected hair salons. Kept umming and ahhing whether to fork out for some, in the meantime used other people's! When I was getting ready to go out one night, a friend had brought Remington 2x ceramic straightners round-I used these and could not tell the difference between GHD'S. Ok, these cost around £49.99 and you can get them from anywhere-Argos, Index etc. They heat up in around 10 seconds-it's only a few seconds more than GHD's anyway! Advantages: Easy to use and last a long time!

...I bought these straighteners about 3/4 years ago when they first came out. They were still quite expensive but I did not have the cash for something like GHDs. So this was the next best for me. I had already gone through quite a few pairs of straighters that just could not hack the daily use. But these came up to the job. I was first recommended them by a friend, who has really long thick hair. So I tried hers out on a couple of nights out and really liked them. Best thing I ever bought, do a really good job, really quickly and have lasted me a number of years. They heat up to a top temp of 210c, most of the time I use them on dry hair but have used them when my hair has been wet but it does sound like they are burning your hair and lots of steam everywhere! I would recommend using it on dry hair but if you do use them...
