...I must admit I am a big fan of GHD hair straighteners. Ever since my Mum bought me a pair of them last Christmas I would never go back to any other brand. However I am a member of the Amazon Vine programme and I received a pair of these Remington Genius straighteners for free. Genius Straighteners? Remington state that if you want cutting edge technology that?s usually found in hair salons, then these are the straighteners for you. In fact, Celebrity Hairdresser of the Year, Steven Goldsworthy, goes as far as saying these are the Ferrari of all hair straighteners! REMINGTON 2X PROTECTION

Advantages: Heat up very fast.
Disadvantages: People assume they're not as good as GHD.

...The particular model that I am refering to in this review, are the Remington S1002 slim ceramic Teflon coated model. I originally bought these because they were only £35, assuming that they would just about do the job, as I really could not justify paying £100 for GHD straighteners. I thought that GHDs were just a craze, I must admit, it is a craze that has lasted, but I feel they have an unjustified high status. After using these straighteners for the first time, Iknew that I had bought the right ones. Myhair is kind of frizzy, but also quite oily, (that's hairdresser talk for greasy!). I have always bought straighteners that included a steamer, to moisturise my hair, which always just made it more frizzy. I grew really fed up of this, and cut it off, myself, into a short bob. Remington CS2000 slim ceramic straightener

Advantages: Gets hair straighter
Disadvantages: Doesn't get very hot

The Remington CS2000 sort of does the job, but nothing like a salon-standard product. It comes down to the phrase 'you get what you pay for'. I don't regret buying them - I'd have been more annoyed at paying £50+ for something I couldn't get to grips with using. At least I know now that I will invest in a higher quality product in a year or two. The remington CS2000 is a reasonable starter product to learn the technique of straightening hair but its very basic and you could outgrow them quick and soon want another pair. The Amazing Pink Straighteners!!

...I bought these straighteners about 3/4 years ago when they first came out. They were still quite expensive but I did not have the cash for something like GHDs. So this was the next best for me. I had already gone through quite a few pairs of straighters that just could not hack the daily use. But these came up to the job. I was first recommended them by a friend, who has really long thick hair. So I tried hers out on a couple of nights out and really liked them. Best thing I ever bought, do a really good job, really quickly and have lasted me a number of years. They heat up to a top temp of 210c, most of the time I use them on dry hair but have used them when my hair has been wet but it does sound like they are burning your hair and lots of steam everywhere! They heat up in under twenty second- when the little red LED has stopped flashing they are ready to use and it also makes a funny noise to let you know when they are ready.
