The Renault Laguna Estate, sorry, Sports Tourer

Advantages: Stylish, well equipped, technology laden car
Disadvantages: Not the most practical of estates and the engine is a little fussy

..., Renault's BMW 5-Series challenger will hit the streets and heads will turn so far, there will be a lot of strained muscles around Britain. It's futuristic looks have divided opinion, but either way, the Vel Satis saloon is definately an interesting alternative to it's German rivals. A wacky new Megane, Scenic and Espace is set to be on sale next year and a Clio isn't far off. They are also returning to F1 next year and big things are expected. Renaults future has never been better. THE OPINION THE CAR:RENAULT LAGUNA SPORTS TOURER 1.9dCI PRIVILEGE LAUNCH:2000 RIVALS: FORD MONDEO VW PASSAT NEW NISSAN PRIMERA NEW VAUXHALL VECTRA EXTERIOR STYLING Before the launch of the new Laguna, the Renault range was in need of a boost. Renault Laguna a great family estate.

Advantages: A geat family car for those who dont want a people carrier
Disadvantages: Car key is a card pricy to replace

...I brought a Renault Laguna 1.9TD Sport Tourer In April of this year. I paid £2300 for an 03reg. You get a high quality car for a relativly small amount of money. The Sport Tourer comes with part leather interior, three 3 point seatbelts which is a must for anybody with children, a cd player, air con, Abs, 6 speed gears, heated front and rear windscreens and lots more. I have three young children and didn't want to purchase a people carrier instead I opted for this estate and so far have been extremely pleased with my purchase. It has a fantastically large boot which fits my double buggy in with ease and still has enough room for shopping. As far as safety ratings go this is by far one of the best it has several airbags and you are able to turn the passenger airbag off at a switch if you need to place a rear facing child seat in...

RENAULT LAGUNA MK2 1.9DCi

Advantages: 5* Safety rating many extras good mpg
Disadvantages: repair cost noisy plastic trim

...I bought my laguna back in 2007 from a secondhand dealer in Perterborough it came with a years MOT and had 63,000 on the clock and had previously been owned by two former keepers. So i parted with my £4,000 and off we went i noticed over the next few weeks that everytime i drove over a bump i heard a bang from the rear, so off i went to my local garage not Renaults and they said that my bushes on the back axle had gone and needed replacing at a cost of £200 the warranty with the car was for major engine parts so i had to get the wallet out. After 13 months the same thing happened again so i went to another garage and was quoted £188 fitted, apparently this is a common fault with this car and as i do 20-30,000 miles a year it looks like this will be an annual cost. The car goes 18,000 miles between servicing but it's the bit between...

Renault Laguna 1.9 dCi - The User's Review

Advantages: 5* Safety Rating, Good Drive, Cheap
Disadvantages: Broken Sensors, Cheap Interior

...My parents have owned a Renault Laguna since 2004. We decided that since our accident, we would need a car with a very high safety standard. The Laguna ticked all of the boxes with its excellent five-star european safety rating and sufficient boot space. In general, the Laguna is a good drive which is very smooth and durable on lengthy journeys but there are some major problems. The main two problems that we have experienced is that the tyre sensors always break and we have to take it in to our local Renault garage for repair at £75 a time. We have now stopped going to the garage and just put up with the annoying unfixable sensors. The second problem is fixings within the car seem very cheap and can be removed very easily and many of the speaker covers etc. within our car are virtually hanging off. Overall though, I believe that...

Renault Laguna 1.9DCI Sport Tourer Dynamique

Advantages: Spacious, Economical, Sylish Looking Inside & Out
Disadvantages: Servicing & Parts Are Expensive From Dealers, If it goes wrong everythings electical.

...My review is based on a Renault Laguna 1.9dci Sport Tourer Dynamique Estate 2003 model. Had one of these since November as a replacement for my other halfs and mine's Renault Clio, as we wanted a bigger car to take the dogs to various places and be able to have them secure in a large enough boot but we did not specifically go out looking for a car. We drove past a small backstreet car garage that we drive past nearly every day, parked up on the road and priced at only £3500 for a four year old car. So we went and looked at her took her out for a test drive, at first we wern't sure if we liked this car or not but had then decided that we would maybe look for another laguna as this one was high milage and made a strange noise. After a day or two we decided we really needed an estate for our up-coming trip to Scotland, 270 miles...

The New Renault Laguna

Advantages: See opinion
Disadvantages: See opinion

...I’ve a friend who works with one of the Renault main dealers here in Dublin, and who had been “raving” to me for the past week about the new model Laguna that is due to hit the Irish market at the beginning of next month. So I dropped into him last Thursday to see what all the “drooling” was about. APPEARANCE Exterior The very first thing that strikes you about the new Laguna is how different it looks from the older model, not that I personally thought there was too much the matter with that. Renault has always made attractive cars. The new model is far more striking, beefier looking and more sporting in profile, and also seems to sit far closer to the ground than its predecessor. Renault have “pushed” the wheels deeper into the corners, which adds 87mm to the wheelbase. This may...

Renault Laguna RT 2.0 Estate

Advantages: 7 seater, good performance, roof rails for lugggage box
Disadvantages: no internal luggage space when fully occupied

...seats. In summary I bought this car for £550 looking for a cheap car to run into the ground. I got far more than this, as I have obtained a vehicle that although 11 years old still feels very polished and refined. I would recommend this car to anyone who has a large family and needs to transport the 6 passengers on an infrequent basis. It surpassed itself during the holiday and all being well should last for a couple of years at least. However bear in mind that Renault are new model maniacs with parts being hard to identifyy and can be expensive so on a car this old always be prepared to cut your losses and move on, when one of the exotic items gives up the ghost, I await that day..so far!...

Review of Renault Laguna 2.0 Rt

Renault Laguna 2.0 Extreme

Advantages: Value for Money
Disadvantages: Deprecitation

...Having just started a family, I needed to change my existing 3 door car to a more family friendly car. I looked into various options and ended up getting the Laguna at Cargiant for £6k. I bought the car with 25k miles on the clock and it was an 2005 Model. The car itself is nice to dive and the main reason I choose it was because of it's safety record and 5 Star Rating. Being a typical family car it's not that amazing to look at but all the features are there that you would expect from a relatively new car including air con, elec windows, power steering, ABS, CD Player (no MP3 connectivity though) & ISOFIX seats for car seats. The car I bought is the petrol version but I noticed it's MPG isn't that great but the Diesel version is soo much better onm fuel consumption. I guess this is why Diesel versions are more expensive. I...

Renault Laguna 1.6 Sport

Advantages: Economic & reliable
Disadvantages: None to note

...I have owned a 1999 Laguna 1.6 Sport from new and have covered 90,000miles. Other than a few minor stone chips the body work is in very good condition - no rust. Very economical for a 1.6 - I drive sensibly and get around 42 MPG. I have been very pleased with the car and plan to keep it for a least another year. Only problem I have had is a water pump failure, so I changed the cam belt at the same time (66k). I am still on the original clutch, and other than the water pump, rear exhaust silncer (2) and new tyres all the other parts are original. I have today took it for its MOT and unfortunately I need some new brake pipes (corrosion) and a near side lower ball joint. Overall I think I have had good value from my Laguna over the years - a very trustworthy and reliable car....

Laguna 1.9dCi Hatchback

Advantages: Safe
Disadvantages: Uncomfortable

...I drive a reasonable number of miles in my work (around 3000/month) and have recently had the opportunity to sample several cars in this class. The Laguna has been my least favourite for a number of reasons. Firstly, I have been driving this particular vehicle for around 5 months. It is a hire car, and I am unsure of the trim level - there are no other markings on the car other than 1.9dCi. It is an up to date model - 05 plate. My main issue is comfort. I am just over 6ft & I find that the door handle is constantly rubbing my knee. This sounds minor, but when you are in a car for a couple of hours it becomes a huge annoyance. I have tried every adjustment but have yet to find a comfortable seating position. Also note that boot space is less than I expected. Another area worth mentioning is the sun visor. When this is down, it...
