Renault Megane Convertable 1.6
Advantages: Stylish and surprisingly roomy in the boot
Disadvantages: sluggish engine
...The Meagane has a five star safety rating which was just the assurance I needed when I becam a first time mum. My two seater Tigra was no longer big enough to carry everything I needed, and the Meagne provided the stylish looks but practical features I required. The boot provided enough room for a large Silver Cross Pram and plenty of shopping as well. The seatbelts in the back where long enough to hold securely a baby seat and the storage compartments where used to full capacity.
One problem with the Megane is the 1.6litre engine feels sluggish and slow but the air conditioning, digital diplays, and fully retractable lid make up for its shortcomings. A lovely car for family to own but not one for the boy racers. Fuel consumption was excellent and despite reading reviews on poor retractable roof quality mine has not had a problem...

Renault Megane Cabriolet
Advantages: Excellent car, fantastic on a warm day, not bad price for convertible
Disadvantages: Very poor visibility out of back window
...I went looking for a small hatchback and looked at all the usual ones, Peugeot 206, Renault Clio, Fiat Punto, etc. I had actually gone to the garage to view a Peugeot but was told it has been sold. The guy showed me the Megane and my initial thoughts were it was too big for the likes of me, me who is used to small hatchbacks! He persuaded me to do a test drive and after seeing the roof down, I bought it.
I was taken by the room in the back (compared to the Peugeot 206 cabriolet) and have had two adults in there - not bad for 2 door cabriolet. I had sat in an MG and other such two seater cars and wondered if my daughter and I and all our baggage could possibly fit in - this seemed to have the best of both - sporty look plus additional seats/space.
I am subsequently quite pleasantly surprised by the amount of features this car...

Renault Megane 1.6 RT Sport, Garlic on the go
Advantages: Comfort, Economy, Brakes
Disadvantages: Gearbox, A few minor niggles, Gearbox
...As a part time (employed) motor mechanic I would never have bought a French car but this Megane 1.6RT Sport came up very cheap on 86000 miles with the clutch shot to bits. (NOT a joy to replace) The car was a genuine one owner with a full service history, from the original main dealer. Overall it has given 14 months (10000 miles) of reliable if uninspiring motoring)
What's good about the Megane
Fuel consumption, it seems to go forever on £20.
Comfort,
Plenty of extras.
General reliability.
The engine is very willing, especially when taken over 3500 rpm, though there's precious little bottom end torgue.
Brakes are lovely,
What's not so good about the Megane
The gearbox. (2nd gear synchro is knackered on ours)
The steering has little or no feel. You'd be off the road into the scenery before there was any...

Grand Scenic Dynamique 1.6
Advantages: Stylish and Comfortable
Disadvantages: Disappointing usability
...This review refers to the 1.6 Grand (5 seats plus 2 'jump' seats in the boot) Scenic Dynamique (Luxury) 2004 model. I recently drove an '06 model and there appears to be no differences.
The Good
Very stylish and bright instrument display.
Excellent interior lighting - the footwell lights are really good and make a big difference on those dark winter nights.
Lots of storage under seats and under footwells. Storage box between the two front seats is very good (and yep it's got it's own light).
Good turning circle for a large car.
Some automation works very well for instance the radio and all lights turn off automatically when you leave the car. You can also make all open windows & sunroof close automatically when you lock the car from the outside.
Automated windscreen wipers these work well and respond well to splashes from...

Renault Megane 1.6
Advantages: Great engine, Nice drive, great electrics pack (on mine)
Disadvantages: Infra red remote (not ultra sonic), over protective immobiliser.
...I've had my Megaine for 3 months now and I've nothing but praise for it. It's 2 years old and had 32,000 miles on the clock, now it's got 38,000 and it's been extremely reliable, always starts first time with a reassuring growl that tells you it will always start first time, if you know what I mean. I'm not sure if all the equipment that came with mine is standard but if it isn't pay the extra to get them; Electric windows, mirrors and sunroof are all great useable toys that are very quiet with controls easy to hand. Also helpfull is the extra radio controls just in reach of my right hand so that you don't have to look away from the road to operate the basic functions.
The 1.6 engine in the Megaine reminds me of the old 1.6 that Ford used to stick in the mark 3 XR3i, and I mean that in a good way! It's high revving with a great grunty...

Renault Megane Coupe Dynamique+
Advantages: Looks fantastic and great to drive.
Disadvantages: Limited space in the back.
...The Car
It's a black renault megane coupe dynamique+ 1.6 51reg.
I used to have a Renault Clio 1.4RT which I loved, but the coupe was the only car that I would exchange it for (it had to be black).
Exterior
It looks fantastic, sleek and sexy - the dynamique+ model has a sunroof fitted as standard as well as having air conditioning. It has front fog lights which add to the classy look the car has. It's black which does show up the dirt but it's such a nice looking car that you take pride in and actually want to keep it clean and shiny!
Interior
There is plenty of room in the front with the seats being able to go up and down as well as back and forth (for us shorties) but is very limited in the back - I wouldn't want to travel a long way in the back! The dash is smart looking with its white dials which give it a sporty look...

2000 W Renault Megane Coupe - Sport Alize
Advantages: Great engine, good looks, high spec, reliable
Disadvantages: lacklustre handling, harsh ride, bland interior
...I bought my W-reg Renault Megane Coupe 1.6 Sport Alize January 2007. I paid nearly £3000 for this car including the value of my old Citroen AX which I part-exchanged in as part of the deal. I had been looking for this model for some time and was relieved to finally purchase one from a local garage. I bought it with 86000 miles on the clock. It now has 99000.
STYLING - Initially one the main reasons I started looking for the coupe variant of the megane was the styling. Although it is starting to show its age now compared to newer models on the market, the car is still an attractive shape. My model is bright red with the standard 15" alloy wheels and overall the car looks sporty and squat. Inside unfortunately the styling flair is not continued inside, and the fact that this car is based on the megane hatch becomes apparent. Dull grey...

1999 Phase 2 Megane Coupe 1.6 16V Sports Alize
Advantages: Looks, handling, individuality
Disadvantages: space (but you are buying a coupe!)
...The car: MEGANE COUPE 1999 1.6 16V Sports Alize phase 2
I have had the car for 4-5 years now and guess I can judge how well the Megane Coupe has faired for me. Many reviews here don't seem to distinguise whether it is the phase 1 or phase 2 models. Phase 1 models are usually 8V whereas the phase 2 models are 16V and have a slightly different front and back styling.
The picture shown above is of a phase 2 car and is the hatchback version NOT the coupe!
Here I review my car which is the phase 2 Coupe model. In the review I'll talk about ownership and possible problems...including those which I have had :-)
THE LOOKS
I have owned the car for about 5 years now and still find driving it a joy, the individuallity, the styling and those double optic headlamps really do something for me! I have not seen a car, since the 5...

Renault Scenic Dynamique 1.6 Auto
Advantages: Good amount of room and fits 5 adults comfortably.
Disadvantages: engine feels under powered at times.
...I have had my scenic now since July 2007. At times the automatic gear box feel really slugish and the engine always seems to be reving. But the car is comfortable and nice to drive. I find that the cruise control is nice to have on long trips especially on motorways or dual cariageways.
My niece like the hieght of the car because she can now see over the top of bush's on the side of the road where in a normal height car she struggles and becomes bored and disruptive. I like the mirror that also let you check on what the kids are doing in the back. But it doesn't let you see the child that is behind the drivers seat.
The controls in the cock pit feel they are made really well and I like the child lock that you can switch on to stop the kids opening the window and doors while the car is moving. Only problem is I keep forgetting to...

Megane Coupe 1.6e Review
Advantages: Keeps on Going, good looks, econmical
Disadvantages: nothing in particular
...-40 mpg.
The ride is smooth and fairly quiet, although I have a double exhaust on the back which makes it a bit louder! I actually think the car is very quick, espicially since it's the 1.6e, so I'm sure the 16v flies! I do really enjoy driving it, which one reason I'm relunctant to part with it despite the miles!
Other reviews have criticised the room in the back, and the opening of the boot, but this is not a flaw in the car. It's a coupe, what do you expect! Thats the way it's meant to be, of course it's not a family car! If you need more room, the saloon version will be more suitable for you.
Considering this car is 8 years old, there are some surprisingly neat gadgets. For example, electric sunroof and windows, trip computer, electric mirrors, and a fair few other things that newer cars don't have even on the high spec model...
