My Renault Grand Scenic

Advantages: Seven Seats
Disadvantages: Thirsty, Rear Suspension quite poor

.... The three centre seats can fold back for extra luggage space but are quite heavy to lift in and out, also the glove box is ideal in hot weather as it keeps things nice and cool with the air conditioner on. The headlights can be set to automatic so they turn on themselves or be set to manual and also has automatic wipers. It has disc brakes all round for smoother braking and a digital dashboard which I think is a lot clearer than a conventional dashboard. I would think about buying another Grand Scenic when we renew our car as the new model is now out....

Still happy with Renault Scenic 1.9 Dci

Advantages: Smooth, comfortable drive.
Disadvantages: Hubby complains it is not a turbo diesel!

...This time last year we purchased a 1 year old, ex demonstration Renault Scenic 1.9 Dci, luxury version with leather seats etc. (Monaco model) Let me warn you in advance: Once you have a scenic, there is no way back! It has changed the way in which we look at cars as any other regular car suddenly seems cramped and uncomfortable. It is somewhat Tardis like - appearing compact from the outside but is roomy inside. The Scenic has a typical French ride - very smooth and comfortable. The seating position is upright with a good view over other (or should I say, inferior?) cars. The front seats are fully adjustable for height and distance from front. In addition, the drivers seat also has an adjustable lumbar support. The steering wheel is also adjustable, making the chance that you find a good position very high! In the rear...

Renault Scenic 1.4 fidji 2003

Advantages: Reliable, spacious, comfortable
Disadvantages: Expensive to repair, brake discs dont last long

...We've owned this car for 2 years now, it was bought second hand with only 23,000 miles on the clock. Its been a fantastic car, no problems at all since we bought it. However on the mot last year an advisory note was put on it regarding slight pitting on the rear brake discs but the brakes felt fine so we decided to leave it until the next mot which has just been done. FAILED!! Yep, those slightly pitted brake discs are now excessively pitted and need replacing. The cost? Ouch is all I can say. £220 for replacement. The car has only done 29,000 miles in its 5 year life and after reading other forums it appears to be a common thing with Scenics as well as blowing ignition coils. I have to say we have been lucky with the coils, they were replaced by the garage just before we bought the car and seem to be holding up well. *touch wood...

RX$ scenic - why?

Advantages: looks nice
Disadvantages: see below - mpg etc

...A Renault Scenic, same engine, propshaft and permanent four wheel drive added. Raise the ride height and its gonna be a winner, right? Oh but no... A shiny two tone green 1.9 fiji rx4 beckoned to me from the forecourt. Leather interior, loads of gadgets, not quite as anti-greenpeace as a jeep - how could i refuse. Bought the beast and drove it home marvelling at the way it wallowed into corners and lacked any acceleration - small things to pay when you have such a unique looking car. Passed a petrol station on the way home and i can honestly say thats the last one ive drove past without popping in - here we have a 1.9 diesel that even on the handbook only manages 35mpg and thats a new perfect one - mine does late twenties and thats driven easily - no mean feat considering how slow it is. Has all the charming olde worldy...

Renault Runaround.

Advantages: Spacious, easy to drive, comfortable, 2 sunroofs
Disadvantages: Driving position, immobiliser, noisy engine

...What can be said about the Renault Scenic that hasn't already been said? Originally called the Renault Megane Scenic and based on the hatchback derivative's chassis, the Scenic quickly became a popular choice for family users and wheelchair-bound mobility customers, offering vast space and comfort for a rock-bottom price. As its popularity grew, Renault capitalised on this and soon dropped the Megane moniker from the name, wishing to give the little people carrier an identity of its own. So when children came along and the load space of the only car we had - a Lexus IS200 - proved to be too small, a trip to the local Renault dealership seemed in order. Having already discounted the obvious competition, Citroen's Picasso, and not finding anything else that remotely fit the bill, I conceded to my wife's desires to have a people...

The Renault Scénic as mum's car

Advantages: Space, Height, Boot, Seats
Disadvantages: Rear middle seat belt - disaster!

...The Scenic was the first compact MPV on the market in 1997 and is based on its company cousin, the Renault Megane. Our model is the RXE (pix of which is shown with this review)with the 1.6 engine, which is very capable and reliable (thus far, *fingers crossed*) for its 'small' size. We have had our Scenic (aka the big red passion wagon - this is an ironic title :) for a year now and I still love it although I think we have become more used to than happy with it's quirks. When we bought it the car was already 2 years old with 50,000 miles on the clock. Acknowledged this is a lot but we would not be doing very many cross-country jaunts in it and we wanted something cheap and big that could not be described as "van, white" :) We love the space of the car and the fact that I can leave my passenger seat in the front and walk...

The new Renault Scenic - 2003 shape

Advantages: Amazing versatility
Disadvantages: my car took 3 months to be delivered

...Renault Scenic Privilege 1.6, Manual, Petrol This is an amazing car - has loads of added extras, to make all your friends jealous. My car has full leather upholstery and the electric panoramic sunroof package, which was extremely good value, and also gives a hint of class to the car. The car has a six CD changer under the passenger seat and an additional single CD slot in the radio on the dashboard. There are CD pockets built into the front car doors which allow storage of 5 CD cases. The windscreen wipers come on automatically when it starts to rain, along with the headlights, which have an inbuilt sensor which allows them to come on automatically when the car is switched on if the light levels are dark - no driving off in the dark, and then suddenly remembering to switch your lights on. They even come on briefly when...

Renault Scenic - the MPV to buy!

Advantages: Fuel Consumption, Comfort, Ride Height, space.
Disadvantages: Cornering in wet

...Although devoted BMW drivers my wife and I decided that with two growing children the boot was no use, the family trips, maintenance cost a fortune, it was very cramped for four and a full load, shopping limited to at least 6 bags. On researching MPV's being bigger we assumed that a diesel was the answer as the fuel consumption for a petrol MPV was just about the same as the BMW. Drove the Renault Scenic 1.9DTi and the Citroen Xsara Picasso as they both appealed to us. In short Scenic won over size comfort looks parking ability and fuel consumption. The double sunroofs are a boon and as they are electric at the flick of a button they can be opened ajar or fully - great for the kids and they were speechless the first time they were opened. Storage in "cubby-holes" is immense. Under the rear passengers foot wells, under their seats also...

Renault Grand Scenic Dynamique

Advantages: Decent space for third-row passengers and a clever storage mechanism for these seats. Hugely versatile cabin.
Disadvantages: Base models do not come with standard air-conditioning

...in early Summer, but Renault City fixed it quickly second time around - a small part was required - all within warranty. Someone crashed into us one day too this Summer, their older Renault was wrecked, but ours suffered only very minor cosmetic damage to front which was covered by other driver's insurance. Testament to vehicle's safety. At present, boot lid does not always indicate it has shut properly so we need to purposefully shut it. We have got through one set of front tyres at around 14,000 miles of hard driving. Back tyres okay. Also one set of brake discs at front too. Also had to replace part of exhaust and heat shield after some damage on holidays on rough roads in Spain. Auto features like lights, card key, auto wipers, auto closing windows make driving other vehicles a real hassle as you have to remember to do all...

Renault Scenic Dynamique 1.6 Auto

Advantages: Good amount of room and fits 5 adults comfortably.
Disadvantages: engine feels under powered at times.

...I have had my scenic now since July 2007. At times the automatic gear box feel really slugish and the engine always seems to be reving. But the car is comfortable and nice to drive. I find that the cruise control is nice to have on long trips especially on motorways or dual cariageways. My niece like the hieght of the car because she can now see over the top of bush's on the side of the road where in a normal height car she struggles and becomes bored and disruptive. I like the mirror that also let you check on what the kids are doing in the back. But it doesn't let you see the child that is behind the drivers seat. The controls in the cock pit feel they are made really well and I like the child lock that you can switch on to stop the kids opening the window and doors while the car is moving. Only problem is I keep forgetting to...
