Clothes shopping

Advantages: Too many shops to choose from
Disadvantages: You have to go to Paris!

...I would recommend any serious shopper who wants to save money and visit a beautiful city to go to Paris. My best bargains include kookai on Rue de Rennes (metro Montparnasse) where not only is the latest collection a lot cheaper than in the UK, but this shop also has lots of reduced items from previous sales. Save time for any Morgan, Zara, Ange and Agatha as well. Go to Galeries Lafayette, Rue de Rennes and Rue de Rivoli (for H&M) I would not buy anything in Kookai or Morgan from England ever again, now I know how much I can save in Paris. Another bonus is during the sales, which seem to go on a lot longer than in the UK and there isn't such a frenzy about them!...

Review of kookai, Morgan, Zara - Kookai

The only time I haven't wanted to kill Hugh Grant

Advantages: Humourous, well acted..
Disadvantages: Geri Halliwell's cover version....

...This film managed surprise me no end - a film in which Hugh Grant is actually good ! Probably 'cos he plays a 'bad guy' rather then the floopy fringed twat he usually plays... Anyway, anyone that hasn't read the book will no doubt have got the just of the story from reviews and advertising : a late twenties single woman , always worried about her weight and getting a man. Although the concept may sound rather ordinary the plot and storyline is altogether much more interesting, and there is no real lull throughout the whole film. Starring a barely recognisable Renne Zellwinger (spelt wrong no doubt !) who despite putting on 27 pounds for the role, still manages to look rather fine at certain points in the film. Hugh Grant , for a change , is not actually his usuall floppy fringed stuttering 'nice guy' typecast, and actually does...

The chronicles get darker!!!

...Oath Breaker is the fifth book in Michelle Paver's "Chronicles Of Ancient Darkness" I am writing this review on the assumption that those of you that read it will have read the previous books in the series and have an Idea of what is going on. This book follows Torak (former wolf clan and "spirit walker" now adopted by the raven clan) and Renn (Raven clan and friend to Torak) as they venture into more trouble and darker times. I think that Michelle Paver has done an outstanding job here of bringing a hint of darkness to the Chronicles, this story follows the 2 friends into the heart of the deep forrest in search of the Soal Eaters and on a personal mission of vengence. Although not entirely dissimilar to the previous books the auther seems to have adopted a somewhat darker view of the world and the clans that inhabit it. For me...

Blue soup, omelete and marmalade

Advantages: funny, clever, good acting

...I have just returned home from seeing one of the funniest movies I have ever seen - Bridget Jones's Diary. Bridget Jones, played by Renne Zellweger, is a spinster, in her 30's working in the publishing industry. The movie tells of one year of her Diary, trying to find the right man. Basically, the man she falls in love initally - Daniel, her boss (played by Hugh Grant) is the wrong one. I won't go into details as that would spoil the plot. The right man for her is actually Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) who her mother is intent on setting her up with. She isn't interested, mainly based on facts told to her by Daniel, which in the end are proved to be lies. Much of her ups and downs in the movie are shared with her three close friends, Shazzer, Jude and Tom (who's gay). Her three friends are also not very good at the social part...

It's Time To Cutloose!

...I fist saw this film when I was flicking through the channels at about 11pm one Saturday evening about a year and a half ago. The first thing that made me stay on the channel was seeing that Sarah Jessica Parker was in it. Being a Sex And The City fan, I decided to watch. As I continued to watch, I saw the Film's all star cast. With actors such as John Lythgoe and Chris Penn -who wouldn't settle down to watch this film? Oh....I forgot to mention, Kevin Bacon also takes the lead. A brilliant performance from Bacon, in this, my favourite of all his many films. No you're a Cube

Advantages: Great characters

...broke her glasses. Worth a cynical and quiet man. Rennes an ex-con known for escaping from high-security films. None of them know how they have got where they are. Renne informs them that there are several rooms all like the one they are in, except some of them are booby-trapped. He has established a method of checking for booby-traps by throwing a boot into the room and then pulling it back by the lace. This works at first but then certain rooms seem to have different sensors ranging from motion sensors to molecule sensors and sound sensors. My favourite scene was when they entered the room with the sound sensor, by this stage they had met the autistic Kazan who made uncontrollable noises. Very well directed and one of the most tense scenes I'd ever seen in a film. They all try to escape and figure out what is happening. Strange...
