Sainsbury's online dvd rental - Worth a look!

Advantages: The free trial costs nothing & you get to see some excellent films
Disadvantages: You may not get them in exactly the order you have chosen

...Over the Christmas break, fed up with the usual repeats on the telly, I looked online to see what dvd rental trials were on offer. My eldest son has tried, and continued to subscribe to Tesco dvd rentals. I came across Sainsbury's Dvd rentals, with a free 30 days trial, this is more than double the free trials offered by Tesco and Blockbuster. I followed the simple instructions for joining, gave my email address, a password, plus a delivery address. I also had to leave a card number for future monthly charges, (even though I can cancel before the start of the subscription, ) this is to confirm that I am over 18. I chose about 20 titles from over 44,500, these were picked from various sections under the headings, Top Directors, Fight Movies, Top 100 lists, Quick pics, etc. There are romances, dramas, horror, childrens, si-fi, rock...

The best video game rental site on the Internet.

Advantages: Excellent customer service and a speedy turnaround.
Disadvantages: There isn't any!

Once your free trial is over and you decide to carry on you can change your package. They have 3 packages 1 DVD at a time - For £7.97 you can have unlimited DVD rental 2 DVDs at a time - For £11.47 you can have unlimited DVD rental 3 DVDs at a time - For £13.97 you can have unlimited DVD rental You will be charged monthly, on the same day of the month that your trial period finished. There are no late fees, they send them too you, you watch them, then post them back when you have finished watching them. They get sent out to you 1st class and they also have a 1st class pre-paid envelope to send it back to them in. But it does state if you lose the pre-paid envelope you have to pay to send them...

Radio Rentals or Boxclever

Advantages: Change when you like.
Disadvantages: Changing name

We lauch our store in March as Boxclever. Tesco DVD Rental

I initially chose this DVD club as it was the cheapest one on the internet at the time (still not sure if any other online DVD club is any cheaper). How it works is you sign up for a free 14 day trial and you can choose to have 1, 2 or 3 dvds at a time. The prices are 1 dvd £7.97 2 dvds £11.47 3 dvds £13.97 The price is per month and includes all returns postage. In fact even if you lose the return envelope there is a freepost address that you can send the dvd back to, so it won't ever cost you a penny. There are much better online rental services

Disadvantages: Delayed turnaround, dont send favourite choices for months

...Tesco use ScreenSelect to provide their online DVD rental service. I used ScreenSelect for a long time and then they bought out Video Island (who originally provided Tesco's rental service). Since this take over, ScreenSelect have fallen to the same thing that happens when a company gets bigger - customer service goes out of the window, they get complacent and lose the personal touch, and quality of service drops. But the price doesnt. Incidentally - ScreenSelect charge £14.99 for 3 DVD's at any one time - a quid more than Tesco but the DVD's come from the same place! Ha Ha - work that out! You can have either 1, 2 or 3 DVD's at a time depending on the subscription you pay but £13.97 for unlimited rentals per month, with up to 3 DVD's at home at a time is pretty much the going rate.
