Port El Kantaoui
Advantages: Beautiful Beaches
Disadvantages: Mainly For Couples, Hassle From Local Shopkeekers
...Tunisia itself.
On a positive note however the Resort itself is beautiful, the standard of our Hotel was superb, and the cleanliness of the Resort in general was good.
We also found the local Tunisians (aside from the Shopkeepers, Cafe/Bar/Restaurant owners) to be incredibly friendly, contrary to the advice given by our Holiday Rep.
If you decide to visit Port El Kantaoui then I can guarantee that it will be an experience, and hopefully it will be a very enjoyable one.
Thank you for reading....

PORT EL KANTAOUI
Advantages: NONE
Disadvantages: NONE
...PORT EL KANTAOUI
This is a lovely port, when we went to TUNISIA we stayed right in the centre of Port El Kantaoui and Sousse.
I recommend the Tuk-Tuks there great.
The port itself is based on an old fishing village, which has been extended ? from what I have been told. There are many shops and restaurants, but, beware of the toilets. They are not very clean ? for example we went for a meal in the port and the toilet were right next door to where they prepared there food and the toilet weren't' very clean ? I couldn?t bring myself to go, so I waited until I got back to the hotel.
There a lots of things to buy there special is leather and it is really cheap, I bought some belts and my dad who is crazy about sandals bought 3 pairs of leather sandals.
The jewellery beware some of it isn?t stamped like our jewellery is, I...

Port El Kantaoui staying at the Vincci Hotel
Advantages: Good weather
Disadvantages: Night Life
...We flew with Kathargo Airlines from Edinburgh to Monastir. The flight time is about 3 and a half hours. The airline was very basic with no in flight entertainment and the usual meals were served. The aircraft was obviuosly quite old with shabby seats and trays that didn't work or were broken. If on a Boeing 737 then don't sit near the centre of the plane (seat 12 to 14) as the legroom is quite ridiculous!
On Arrival at Monastir be prepared for long queues whilst you go through immigration. After collecting your baggage don't worry about finding your coach, as there'll be a willing porter ready to whisk you and your luggage off to the desired coach park. The journey to Port El Kantaoui takes about 1 hour taking into account the stops at various Hotels along the way. We stayed at the Vincci Hotel. On Arrival we were shown straight to...

Port el Kantaoui & Tunisian sights '04
Advantages: sun, sea, sand!
Disadvantages: resort built solely for tourists
...I stayed in the Tunisian resort of Port el Kantaoui, Hotel Marharba Palace for 2 weeks during August 2004, with my boyfriend. We had a fantastic holiday as a one off, but would not consider revisiting Tunisia.
The hotel itself definitely lived up to its 4 stars with beautiful sea views, decent sized clean swimming pool (although you do have to reserve sun beds at the crack of dawn!), and excellent maid and waiter service. The food was the low point of the holiday, lacking in variety, but was certainly edible. We booked our holiday through Thomson who remained helpful and supportive throughout the stay.
I strongly recommend the execursions that Thomson had to offer. I am very much a sun lover but, at 40 degrees, even I found I needed to take a break from the sun bathing and swimming. Trips to the Capital Tunis, Sidi Bou...

Port El Kantaoui Tunisia Far from home
Advantages: Brilliant Weather, people
Disadvantages: Not much to do
...We took our holiday on the 17th November for 7 nights stay and Marhaba Palace in Port El Kantaoui. The resort itself is beautiful, scenic and clean. It is a purpose built resort mainly for tourists. When we were there we seemed to find mainly older people who had gone for 6-8 weeks. They were either going around the country or relaxing. The hotel is wonderful as were all the other hotels in Port El Kantoui. I think all the standards are good. Marhaba Palace was excellent. The service, waiters and general workers were very friendly, especially towards young kids. We had our 1 and a half year old daughter and every Tunisian stopped to play with her, say hello or in some cases to kiss her. We were amazed by this as this never happens in the UK when you go to a hotel. My daughter found it enjoyable as she had enough space to run around...

Thumbs up for Sol El Mouradi hotel, Tunisia
Advantages: on the beach, fantastic staff, clean
Disadvantages: a little bit out of the way
...types of potato, chicken, fish, lamb, lasagne, moussaka, pies........ there would often be a chef carving roast meats at the side, or serving special dishes.
There was also a dessert bar, usually with various little pastries or cakes (similar to greek desserts), ice cream, mousse, gateaux etc. yum yum!
Another thing to mention is their fabulous preparation and decoration of the food. It was always stunning and obviously a lot of effort had gone into it each night.
You had to pay for drinks separately - I think a bottle of wine was about £6 or £7 which is ok but not cheap considering you could buy drinkable wine from port el kantaoui for £2 a bottle! Bottled water was also cheap to buy at the restaurant. At breakfast juice, squash and milk were available for free.
There is also another restaurant by the pools, which serves snacks...

BIG IS BEAUTIFUL
Advantages: you get to experiance more of our world
Disadvantages: you have to come back home
...My husband and I were fortunate enough to stay at the
Marhaba Palace Hotel, at Port El Kantaoui, Tunisa.
with my son and his girl friend, this sept.
what an amazing time we had. at this 4 star hotel.
First off, I would like to advise people that the flight time is just over 2 and a half hours and not 4 hours like suggested in several Holiday brochures.
When you change from the plane to the coach for transfer, you will drive through several other places including Souse.
Whilst doing so, you may have an 'oh my god' thought running through your head at the sight of some of The Hotel's but I assure you it just makes the Marhaba Palace look even better than it already is.
It is a bright white hotel in a very good central location surrounded by palm trees.
On arriving we were greeted very warmly by the staff and given a very...

Chill Out Time In Tunisia
Advantages: Lovely hotel with great facilities
Disadvantages: Doesn't have it's own beach
...My boyfriend and I took a week long holiday to Port El Kantaoui in Tunisia in May 2008.
The Occidental Allegro Riviera Hotel is a 4 star hotel.
We mainly booked this holiday just to have a cheap, chilled out week in the sunshine. We also wanted a fairly short haul flight and we felt that Tunisia would be perfect for this.
Travel Time from The UK
We flew from London Gatwick and our flight took 2 and a half hours which was lovely as I am used to really long haul flights. The Occidental Allegro Riviera is located about a 40 minute bus journey from the airport, with a few other drop offs included on the way. Our transfers were included in the price of the holiday.
Price
We paid £455 per person for 7 nights on an all inclusive basis which I thought was pretty reasonable. This hotel also has a sister hotel called...

Kanta-stic!
Advantages: Super clean, excellent location & facilities
Disadvantages: Food could be poor
...Andrew & I stayed at the 4* Hotel Kanta in Port El Kantaoui last July. It was the 2nd time I had been to Tunisia, the first being about 10 years ago and staying in the Hannibal Place up the road, which was mediocre at the time, so I wasn't expecting too much from the Hotel Kanta!
We booked an early deal, in January 2005 for the hotel. We paid £598 altogether for 2 adults for 1 week on a half board basis at the Hotel Kanta, which we thought was excellent considering the brochure price at the time was £468 per adult for that week. This was booked through Airtours.
After flying on Air Tunisie to Monastir airport on a late flight, we were quite exhausted; the hotel was approximately 35 minutes from the airport, our hotel being the first stop en route for transfers.

CLASSY HAVEN FOR BEACH LOVERS
Advantages: great hotels, perfect sandy beaches, no need to haggle, continental feel
Disadvantages: none
...For anyone put off by the thought of having to haggle your way through a holiday in North Africa, you should try PORT EL KANTAOUI
Visitors to either Tunisia or Morocco who are not used to the ancient custom of haggling for ‘bargains’ when shopping find it exciting at first. But, after a while it becomes tiresome – well it did for me. Then I stumbled across a relaxing resort which had fixed prices in the shops and did not try to rip the tourist off at all points.
Port el Kantaoui was built around 20 years ago as a 'purpose made' resort. It is centred around a very smart marina. Ringed with Bars, shops and Restaurants - it has very much a 'Mediterranean Riviera' type feel to it. One thing we noticed straight away after having previously been the resorts of Hammamet and Sousse - you didn't have to haggle for anything...
