...Boots no 7 age rewind foundation I bought this on a recent visit to Boots because I needed a new foundation for the winter- no sun tan left! THE PROMISES? Quite a big initial claim in that this promises that it?s more than make up, with the back of the box telling me that I can face the world with a youthful appearance and no extreme measures. It apparently restores the skin?s appearance making it look 5 years younger, with fine lines and imperfections being reduced and the skin?s radiance being enhanced. It is fragrance free with a SPF 15 to protect against the sun and has moisturisers to keep the skin supple. HOW DOES IT DO THIS? Big claims so how does it do it? There are apparently concentrated levels of No 7?s anti ageing complex which works at improving the condition of skin. PRODUCT AND PACKAGING...

Rewind or switch off?

Advantages: Mos Def was great, quirky plot
Disadvantages: Plot so quirky it doesn't really have a point

...a number of negative reviews about this film though, I would probably never have watched it, but a friend whose opinion I respect recommended I give it a go. I have now watched it twice, but am still not entirely sure which side I am on - this is a quirky film which has left me feeling a bit puzzled to be honest. In case anyone was wondering about the title - it apparently refers to a plea by video store owners to customers to rewind VHS tapes to the beginning before returning. Jack Black is perfectly fine as Jerry. Jerry is wildly eccentric, and looks it, which seems to be the case with many of the roles Black takes on, so he is isn't exactly stretched. Be Kind Rewind

Advantages: Hillarious, Jack Black, Very original
Disadvantages: Ending perhaps unsatisfying

...Be Kind Rewind is a film that can truly be branded "Original". The basic concept it that Jerry a goofy film fanatic, played by Jack Black, becomes magnetised and wipes all of the VCR's in Mr. Fletcher's store (played by Danny Glover). Jerry and his best friend Mike (played by Mos Def) then take the task upon themselves to re-record all of the films by themselves. Despite a slow introduction to the film, it really becomes genuinely hilarious as soon as the pair begin filming. Movies that have been re-recorded in this way become known as "Sweded" which in itself has begun its own internet craze. The pair begin recording many classic movies, such as RoboCop, Space Odyssey and (in my opinion the highlight of the movie) Ghostbusters. The pair run through their public library hunting ghosts with outfits composed entirely out of tin foil...

...that a film didn't necessarily have to have multi-million dollar effects to deliver thrills, admittedly of the cheap kind. Porky's, Lemon Popsicle, Halloween and Death Wish were the order of the day here, complete with the added bonus of fast forward, pause and rewind. Especially pause. With the rental industry booming and the ratings system pretty much non-existent, independent fly-by-night distributors were free to flood the shelves with a deluge of cheap, obscure, unrated and downright unwatchable movies. The (then) British Board of Film Censorship had no remit over video, meaning that gruesome horror movies could bypass certification altogether. The eyeball-gouging scene cut from the theatrical version of Zombie Flesh Eaters was back in on (some) prints of the video. Wes Craven's Last House On The Left, which had been turned down flat...

Disadvantages: A couple of tunes are slightly less exciting than the rest

..."It's All About The Stragglers" came out in 2000, at the height of popularity for UK Garage. This urban dance music emmerged in the mid-nineties, and faded around 2002 (before being brought back as Bassline in 2007). Artful Dodgers were amongst the most popular acts, and as a production group, out of Southampton, they collaborated with R&B singers to perform on top of their 2-Step beats. With the dance scene anywhere being ever-changing, constructing an album is difficult, as the music is quickly old, but with this album constructed efficiently, they managed to stay relavent at this peak period with tunes such as "TwentyFourSeven", "Woman Trouble" and "Re-Rewind". 1. Just Be Kind

Advantages: Shows the joy of filmmaking.
Disadvantages: A little sentimental in places.

Jerry?s sabotage is illustrated by B-movie thriller themes and the blank tapes by threatening strings, brass and cymbals. The other soundtrack choices include a mangled version of the ?Ghostbusters? theme, the jollity of Billy Preston?s ?Nothing From Nothing? and a couple of Fats Waller tunes (?Swing Low, Sweet Chariot? and ?Your Feets Too Big?). It all fits the film but probably wouldn?t work as a stand-alone body of work. ?Be Kind Rewind? is a great film about the joys of moviemaking that features appealing performances and quirky direction. Funny & touching but perhaps not for everyone

Advantages: Interesting story with more to it than meets the eye, funny, Mos Def and Glover
Disadvantages: May be too sentimental for some, Black gives another mediocre performance, possibly the ending

Be Kind and avoid.

Advantages: Jack Black, a few comical moments, ok storyline.
Disadvantages: Boring in parts, not very funny, a little silly at times.

...Review contains minor spoilers. I saw some clips of 'Be Kind Rewind' at the cinema recently and thought it looked as if it would be a very funny movie. It seemed to have plenty going for it. Jack Black, whom I love, takes the lead role and the wacky humour seemed as if it would be just up my street. Wrong!. Once again the advertising clips for a movie out performed the actual film. I suppose that these clips only actually showed all of the best bits of the film. However this film could have been so much better. The story revolves around a less than prosperous video store and its employees. The store owner, Danny Glover, knows that the age of video has nearly passed and that DVD's are the future.
