Ibis Paderborn (Germany)- Sehr Gut!

Advantages: Clean, Servicable, Friendly
Disadvantages: No Pool!

...Welcome to my review on the Ibis hotel, Paderborn. Ibis. Ibis is a parent name for many franchises world wide. Each hotel is owned and run by individuals trading as Ibis, complying to the companies standards and ethics. Ibis has a base standard work line for all its hotels, and you will find a standardisation between all of them. Ibis was the first hotel chain to earn ISO 14001 certification, the standard for environmental protection for such businesses. Ibis Paderborn. The Ibis in Paderborn (Nord Rhein Westfahlen, Germany) is located at the centre of the city, with ease of access to the shopping facilities, and all main British Military Barracks within the area (Allenbrooke and Barker Barracks) It has 90 rooms with WiFi Internet, two meeting rooms, a bar, snack vending 24 hours, room service, private outdoor pay parking...

Review of Ibis, Paderborn

HOCK A DOODLE DOO

Advantages: Reasonably priced, easy to drink!
Disadvantages: Very sweet

...and drinkable. If anything I find it goes down rather quickly like a sweet soft drink would (hic)! It is described on the box as ?medium sweet full-flavoured white wine with a rich fruity flavour?. I would argue that it is a little more than medium sweet although it is fruity and the aroma is very sweet which indicates its flavour well. Produced in Germany, Hock is an old, widely available classic very similar to Liebfraumilch in both taste and sweetness. It is produced in the Rhein region of Germany and takes its name from its originating town of Hocheim. On the dry to sweet scale (1-9) it ranks a 5, again as Liebfraumilch generally does, so if you prefer a drier wine you will probably find this far too sweet. It is marginally too sweet for my taste but makes a nice tipple on its own or with a more savoury, spicy dish to counteract...

Review of Tesco's Hock

A Hock for you

Advantages: Inexpensive
Disadvantages: Status

...I decided to check out the wine offers at my local TESCO, following on from my purchase of red I decided to go for the white. Tesco Hock at £2.06 for 75cl was on offer; this coupled with my 50 points club card wine coupon made for a potentially good deal. ***THE PRODUCT*** The wine came in a glass bottle 9% alc by volume. It has a screw top slim glass bottle. The front label is white/green with details of the product plainly stamped, on the left side further details concerning consumption and storage. There is no label on the back; this is unusual for Tesco. The Hock produce of Germany (Deutscher Tafelwein Rhein). Selected by Tesco Style: Light & dry refreshing medium sweet white, Store: in a cool dark place. Once open drink within 2 days. Serve chilled; enjoy on its own. Allergy advice contains sulphites. ***THE TASTE...

A Fruity Wine for all Occasions

Advantages: Nice grapey taste, not too dry
Disadvantages: None!

....... ** The Bottle ** The bottle of Riesling we had with christmas dinner was one of the German varieties, bottled in 2005 and produced in the Pfalz region of the Rhein valley. Like a lot of German wines, it proudly proclaimed itself to be a Qualitätswein - or quality wine. It came in a green glass bottle (0.75 litre), with an intricate design of two bunches of grapes etched into the glass on the front of the bottle. The bottle had a screw lid rather than a cork, which although not as authentic, was more practical and saved time fussing about with a cork. ** Smell & Taste ** The thing which strikes you the most when you unscrew the lid for the first time is the fizzy nature of the wine. A distinct hissing sound comes from inside the bottle, although this becomes less noticeable on subsequent openings. The wine smells quite rich with its crisp...

Nice city in the heart of Germany

Advantages: beautiful historic area,in the heart of Germany
Disadvantages: at times a little expensive

...Well I am living in Germany and in the Frankfurt area. Therefore I know the Frankfurt area quite well. When you see the ever growing Frankfurt airport you realized that Frankfurt is a city always on the move. Frankfurt is located in a region called the Rhein-Main Area. Surrounded by citys nearby (within 45 Minutes) called Mainz, Wiesbaden, Darmstadt and Giessen, Frankfurt is really the heart of this region. Also a one hour drive away is the beautiful and historic city of Heidelburg.Quite near is also the Taunus and the Odenwald(`mountain`areas),that are really nice to see and of course the city of Rüdesheim, famous for its Drosselgasse. Frankfurt has a few things you have to see, when you are there. At first you go to the inner city and walk over the so called Zeil, which is the main street for shopping in Frankfurt. If you decide to see...

Dead Jewish Worms and Other Stories

Advantages: Very German, pleasant place, fantastic ice cream
Disadvantages: None

...English being the world language that it is, I find it hard to believe that this was unintentional. But we found it hilarious, and there are photos of us pointing to the sign laughing being developed somewhere in Heidelberg as we speak. · Jewish Synagogue Across town is the near synagogue, rebuilt in 1959 after the other was destroyed. It’s small but it’s cool on a hot summer’s day, and a lot more interesting than the cathedral in my mind. Part of it is now a small museum, with exhibits tracing the Jewish history of Worms. Again, free entry. Men are asked to cover their heads when they enter, and caps are provided for this. Other sights: the town walls date from 800 AD and reminded me of those in Lucca and York. If you follow these you are taken on a nice walk around the town and down towards the Rhein...

Another great album from a great club

Advantages: great tracks and no cheez!!!!!!
Disadvantages: ???????????

...This album is fantastic!! A great selection of future and present tunes. I got it 6 months ago and as you can see I'm still chuffed to bits with it. Some tunes that are on it I believe aren't even out on their full UK release like Oliver Klein- RheinKraft a dark tune with rolling bass and some great sound samples. The album is well mixed by Gatecrashers owner Scott Bond. The inlay is brilliant as well (if you are a bloke) cos its got nice pics of nice chicks= NICE! You are unlikely to get sick of this album as the selection of tracks available will not get played on commercial radio so you won't get sick of it. The gatecrasher series is great apart from there last CD(national anthems) which gave up the no cheesy tunes rule on which gatecrasher pride themselves. But this particular album is a little gem!! Lets hope the next is as good!!...

Koelle Allaaf!

Advantages: nice people, beautiful city
Disadvantages: can't think of any

...and enjoy yourself. If you want to go out in Cologne, the best places to eat and relax are in the old town, not far from the main train station. You'll find a lot of restaurants and you have a great view on the river Rhein. To have a drink you can go to one of the many cocktailbars on Heumarkt or Zuelpicher Platz. This is a very trendy and young region with some Studentbars, so the drinks and entries are quite cheap here. If you want to go to a club which is very "in" you could go on the "Ringe". But make sure you don't wear trainers! What you have to drink here is Koelsch! Of course there are other things to see and do other then drinking and partying at night. I mentioned the river Rhine before and you can make boattrips to places like Bonn (which was the capital of Germany before Berlin). Cologne is famous for it Cathedral, which is just...

Heinzelmännchen's Home

Advantages: famous sights, the river Rhine
Disadvantages: none that I could find out in a day

...HEINZELMÄNNCHEN?S HOME The other day I was in Köln am Rhein, the fourth largest German city with nearly one million inhabitants, Cologne on the Rhine for you, Colonia Agrippina for the Old Romans; the wife of Emperor Claudius was born on the banks of the Rhine and elevated her ?colonia? to the status of a city in the year 50 A.D. I don?t know if you associate anything with Köln (the ?ö? is pronounced like the ?u? in burn), Germans think of Carnival, the Cathedral and Eau de Cologne. I don?t know any other city where the main attraction is right beside the train station (or rather vice versa), you leave the building and there, smack bang, is the Cathedral, the two towers are 157m high, it?s not possible not to be impressed. You cross a square and walk up a flight of stairs on which people sit - and unfortunately also eat...
