...Last summer I spent a few days in Salcombe after my Mum had booked this place as a birthday present for me. It was my first time in Salcombe so I didn't really know what to expect, but my Mum had been going there for years so I was looking forward to discovering it. ...This is another of those great books by the Irish Author Maeve Binchy. I am a seasoned reader and must say that I always look forward to one of her new releases since they never fail to please.
The story starts with Ria and her family including her charming husband Danny Lynch. Ria is the homely wife who some call pretty but never beautiful. Her best friend however, can have any man because she is just so striking as well as being a successful business woman. There are a variety of other background characters such as Gertie who cleans Ria's house so that she can provide her husband with drinking money. Colm who owns the local restaurant and uses Ria's garden for growing his vegetables and Barney McCarthy, Danny's dodgy associate who has been having a long term affair.

..."Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya", as the name might suggest, is not a lovey-dovey movie, but an intense psychological thriller. I think this is one of Urmila's must-watch movies and is one of my personal favourites. The movie is a directorial debut for Rajat Mukherjee and is another feather in the cap for producer Ram Gopal Varma, who has produced a myriad of brilliant movies like Rangeela, Satya, Darna Mana Hai and Ek Haseena Thi.

In this case I?m talking about a Spanish white wine made from the Albarino grape. Pazo Serantellos Albarino originates from the Rias Biaxas area of Galicia in Northwestern Spain and is available from Tesco at the not unreasonable price of £4.99 a bottle. Albarinos from Rias Biaxas are crisp, refreshingly aromatic and make a good alternative to bone dry Chardonnay e.g. Chablis. Indeed they often remind me of a cross between a dry Chardonnay with a bit of exotic peachiness from a white wine made from the Viognier grape. Santa Luzia is a quiet fishing village on the Ria Formosa, separated from the long sandy beach by a shallow lagoon that opens out to the Atlantic Ocean. Fishing boats and a ferry use this as a harbour. The long sandy beach called Barril beach is easily accessible by either foot, a 15 minute walk or by a small tourist train, (1 euro I think. cars are not allowed. This is a blue flag beech.

Advantages: Quite funny, interesting social commentary of the time Disadvantages: Wendy Craig's character quite annoying
...Ria is a bored housewife in the late 70s. She loves her husband, Ben, and her two sons, Adam and Russell, but she feels as if she is getting old without having achieved anything exciting in her life other than cooking and cleaning (neither of which she is very good at). Ben, a dental surgeon, is a butterfly collector and takes it for granted that she will always be there for him. Adam and Russell love her, but are too busy starting up their own lives to take much notice of her or her feelings.
Then one day she bumps into Leonard, a local businessman, good looking, charming and recently divorced. They are attracted to each other, but Ria keeps her distance, not wanting to be unfaithful to her husband. Will Leonard manage to win her over? Or will Ben wake up to the fact that his wife is bored and lonely and do something about it before...
Advantages: The most unbeliveable cinematography ever seen in a movie, and ofcourse it has Aishwarya Ria in it. For those who don't know.. simply put she is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN ON THE PLANET!!!!! Disadvantages: A little long for those who get restless after the first 2 hours of a movie.
