Morocco's Essaouira - Good to chill for a couple of days
Advantages: Great for a relax for a night or two
Disadvantages: Not too much to see - a full day and you've done it.
...the two cities. First, the sprawl of Marrakech seemed to go on for miles, with a lot of half finished new apartments, and space being converted to luxury golf hotels miles from the city centre.
After that we spotted a lot of very arid and poor farmland and then plantations of Argon trees (used for Morocco?s famous oil) before reaching another town with another load of those unfinished housing...

Forget Aladin, try Morocco!
Advantages: Great food and shopping
Disadvantages: Perverts, beggars and forceful vendors
...left the hotel. The gastronomy and décor were extremely Moroccan and under this perfectly-constructed illusion, I didn?t feel the need to go out. But it was only when I stepped out on the streets that I began to experience the real Morocco.

Peace and Tranquility in a Busy City
Advantages: Peaceful, pretty with wonderful owners and staff. One of my favourite places ever.
Disadvantages: No tea making facilities. Early morning call to prayer gives a swift awakening
...the main course. All of it was lovely. Although you can't generally get alcohol in the Medina (old city), hotels that cater to Europeans have special dispensation. Having said that, the local beer is nothing to write home about, and the rose wine is the best of the bunch. You don't go to Morocco for the booze. When we did order drinks, though, they came accompanied with little tiny tagine dishes...
