Norlandia Oslo Airport Hotel

Advantages: Breakfast was ok
Disadvantages: not close to the airport, small rooms, smelled funny, shower doors broken

...I recently had to stay over night at Olso airport since our plane got in late at night and there were no flights to my final destination until the morning. We knew this in advance and had pre-booked a room via a discount hotel website. We chose the Norlandia hotel since it was called ?Norlandia Oslo Airport Hotel? and therefore thought it was a good choice since it was close to the airport. This was where my first gripe with the hotel came from.. once we had arrived we had to take a shuttle bus to get to the hotel, this cost us 60kr each one way (around £6) The airport is infact not so close to the hotel and took a 10 minute bus ride! In the morning we had to take the bus again, so all in all we spent about £24 getting to and from this ?Airport Hotel?. Once we got to the hotel, checking in was easy. Location, location, location

Advantages: Very central location, ideal for public transport and exploring the city
Disadvantages: Can be noisy as it is so near the main station

...When we booked our holiday to a cabin Norway I made a fundamental error and miscalculated the time it would take to get from Oslo Gardemeon airport to the fjord area of Norway. With a distance of 293km (182 miles) I thought that we could easily cover the distance in under 3 hours. The route given to me by Multimap three days before we departed gave me a shock as it quoted over 5 hours. As we were landing at 6.30pm I did a quick mental calculation and realised I could be knocking on the cabin owners door the wrong side of midnight, that is if I ever found it in the dark! Oslo on a budget - haha

Advantages: Plenty to see

...The task was to get to Oslo in Norway, but apart from that there was no real plan at all. If you had driven without stopping at a reasonable speed all the way it would take about 6 hours or so (we are in eastern Sweden), but we didn't have that luxury. ...Recently I was in Drammen, near Oslo (Norway), for a wedding. We stayed at the Rica Park Hotel since that was the hotel chosen for the wedding guests to stay at. I think we had a special deal since there were so many people from the wedding staying there, but a double room for 2 nights including breakfast was 1400NOK. XE.com tells me that with todays exchange rate, that works out at around £139. The hotel has 100 rooms, which consist of 2 suites, 5 business rooms and 93 double or single rooms. 'Rica' are quite a large chain of hotel with hotels all over Norway, and the other Scandinavian countries too. When you walk into the hotel it looks really nice.
