RICE PUDDING WITHOUT THE SKIN

Advantages: None of that dreaded skin
Disadvantages: Not quite as good as Ambrosia Creamed Rice

...Eating rice pudding can be a depressing experience if it has not been prepared properly, clumps of half cooked pudding rice swimming in a sea of milky liquid topped off with that frankly disgusting rubbery scab like skin. Rice is gooooood; who knew it would make a fab pud!

Advantages: Very cheap; lovely taste; low fat and calorie
Disadvantages: Tin isn't ring top; the mixture goes watery if you don't eat it within 1-2 days

Further adventures with rice pudding

Advantages: quick, convenient, tasty
Disadvantages: homemade is probably better

.... It was warm and creamy and sweet with just a hint of vanilla. Rice pudding?s real charm, however, lies not in its taste but in its texture. I found Ambrosia creamed rice to be thicker, creamier and with more bits of softer rice than Mullerice. You barely need to chew the Ambrosia stuff. You just let it slip down your throat in a warm, creamy wave. I would recommend Ambrosia Creamed Rice to anyone who loves rice pudding but doesn?t like the skin. (I have heard the horror stories but due to my lack of expertise in the rice pudding area have no idea if the skin is really horrific or not.) Obviously if you are allergic to milk you will be giving this one a miss. ...As a diabetic and someone who is on a low fat diet, when I saw this product s=staring at me from the shelves in my local tesco?s, I though ill give it a try. The tin is 425g, it has the weight watchers logo on the top of the label, the rest of the label is white in background with blue and red and a bowl of there tasty delicious product on the front. It claims to be v low sugar and v low fat, its also v v v low on taste!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. When opened it just looks like rice pudding (well what did you expect green slime?). It didn?t smell like rice pudding, and it tasted of nothing absolutely nothing, it was just cream and bits of rice, just no taste. So I ended up putting in honey jam and so much stuff to make it taste nice, it ended up with more sugar in it than a normal tin!!!!!. What?s in it? Skimmed milk, whole milk...

Weight Watchers Vanilla Creamed Rice - Yummy!!!

Advantages: V Tasty, only 0.5g Sat Fat, 108 Calories, 1.5 pts per pot
Disadvantages: Fairly expensive, quite high sugar and carb content

...I have been a gold member of weight watchers for a couple of years and so I am always on the look out for new, tasty low pointed snacks. This product caught my eye in Asda whilst shopping this week. I love rice pudding and have been unable to find anything that comes close to edible whilst not blowing my points allowance. This product certainly tops my list of snacks. It was very thick and creamy and had loads of soft, creamy rice in it, not just loads of milky liquid wth a few grains floating in it. You could definitely taste the vanilla and it had a very smooth creamy texture as the rice was very soft. At only 1.5 pts per pot it's much more filling than a yogurt which usually have a point value of 1pt.
