My children drove us crazy everytime we drove past to visit just because of the effect. Ripleys believe it or not is very famous for helping you explore the many strange things of this world. "Ripley's Believe It Or Not!" - Blackpool - A review

Advantages: Lots of info, lots of variety and shelter from weather
Disadvantages: Prices could be less steap

...Ripley's Believe It Or Not! is situated on Blackpool's front where thousands of tourists come and visit all the time. Ripley's.. is a great place for a family, however some younger children may find some parts frightening. The prices arn't too good, but there acceptable. When me and my dad visited recently, I think it cost us just over £10, and I'm 16 so I'm not sure if they classed me as a child or an adult, but I would assume an adult. The whole place has a huge range of displays from all over the world, each with a lot of information concerning it which means you can read up on things that catch your eye - pretty much all of it! For example, one of the first displays in the place is a range of "freak animals" such as a sheep with 6 legs, a cow with 2 heads, things like this. EVEN MOOSE WOULD BELIEVE THIS

Advantages: Unusual stories
Disadvantages: Some gross bits!!

...Human beings have an insatiable appetite for the unusual and exotic and boy does this programme have all of that!! My first introduction to Ripleys was when I was very young and visited the Ripley’s museum in Blackpool and was fascinated by the strange displays. I remember looking at a 2 headed kitten (obviously not alive) and wondering if it was fake. apparently not! “Ripley” is Robert Ripley who started as a cartoonist for the New York Globe in 1913. He then travelled the world for over 40 years collecting the unbelievable and exotic. There are now 27 museums from Australia to Niagara Falls. The only one in the UK is the one in Blackpool. One of the most photographed is in Branson USA, the building looks like an earthquake has hit it and appears to be cracked. In Ocean City it looks like a shark hit...

Ripley's Game or Malkovich's finest hour?

Advantages: John Malkovich and Ray Winstone's scenes together.
Disadvantages: Extras on dvd are abit sparse.

...This film is about Tom Ripley, a character made famous by Patricia Highsmith's series of books. The lead role is played by John Malkovich, with the cast including Ray Winstone, Doughray Scott and Lena Headey to name but a few. This follows on from The Talented Mr Ripley which was an earlier film featuring Matt Damon and Gwyneth Paltrow. The film starts with a flashback to Berlin where Tom and an acquaintance called Reeves, (Winstone), are about to pull off a scam involving fake artwork by Renaissance artist Caravaggio. It goes horribly wrong and we witness for the first time in this film what happens to those that cross Ripley. ...My daughter is a massive fan of the Ripley's Believe It Or Not! series of books which chart details of all things weird and wonderful in the world so the Ripley's odditorium was one of the places we simply had to visit when we were in Blackpool over Easter. Who Was Ripley? Robert Leroy Ripley was born in 1890 and travelled to over 200 countries and reported on the strange things that he found in his newspaper column entitled Believe It Or Not! which was read by 80 million people a day at the height of its popularity. His first book was published in 1929 and the Ripley's series of books are still being published to this day with the 2009 annual proving a massive hit in my household. ...Before going to Dublin for a long weekend with friends we had been warned that it was an expensive place to visit. This was proved to be true when I started looking for somewhere for us to stay. We were looking for somewhere affordable but a bit posher than a hostel. My search led me to the Ripley Court Hotel. The reasons I chose it were: - proximity to O'Connel Street - availability of a triple room - breakfast was included in the price We had three nights (over a long weekend) for 500 Euros which I thought was pretty steep for a two star hotel, considering that all three of us were sharing a room. Disadvantages: The pace and confusing plot

...The talented Mr.Ripley is, to put it plainly, odd. Its reviews at the time were generally positive, but, personally, I remained unconvinced. Matt Damon skillfully plays the seemingly innocent and guileless Tom, who, disturbingly, turns out to be an obsessive murderer, appearing almost imbalanced in his need for love and security, which, when unfulfilled, drives him to violence. Then begins a trail of lies, deception and corruption, in which it is difficult for the audience to become fully involved due to its intricacy. Homosexuality is strongly hinted at throughout the film, but it ends without any kind of resolution or firm conclusion.
