...I have been umming and arring over which colsole to buy, the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. I had heard a lot of positive things about the Xbox, and I had also heard that graphics wise and gaming wise the Xbox was slightly better than the Playstation 3. However, I eventually decided to go for the Playstation 3 for several reasons. Firstly, and probably mainly, was because of the recent decision to cancel production of the HD-DVD format (a format which the Xbox 360 is developed to play), meaning that the Blu-Ray dvd format ( a format that the Playstation 3 is developed to play) will dominate the High Definition DVD market in the near future. ...I got one last year for Christmas and found it to be better than my XBox 360 in almost every area, in my opinion this truly is the best games console on the market and would recommend it to anyone who is into their gaming. PS3 slim

Advantages: Blu-ray, free online, nice extras like vidzone & iplayer. Almost silent operation
Disadvantages: Rubbish controller, still expensive, online nowhere near as good as xbox live

...Well, had the slim for a few weeks now (my 1st ever playstation), personally, I'm a little underwhelmed by it, I've been a gamer since the nintendo game & watch days & owned @ least 1 of the current gen consoles since the Mega Drive(Genesis). Graphically the system has the potential to wipe the floor with the 360, but this is really only going to apply to PS3 exclusives as any software house making a multi-platform game is going to be as cost effective (lazy) as possible & use the same graphics on all the games where possible(ok, they need to dumb them down for the Wii). My problem here is that I have yet to get a game for it that runs in 1080P, they all seem to be in 720P! Why???? I'm sure they are out there, but I haven't found one yet. I guess this is down to most HD tv's being HD ready rather than Full HD. Sound-Yeah, ok...

Playstation 3 Great Product

Advantages: Useful, Multimedia Functions, Entertaining, Internet
Disadvantages: Does have the odd problems mostly HDMI issues.

Advantages: Graphics, Sound, Free online play, Wireless controllers, Sixaxis
Disadvantages: Size, Price, Not able to play PS2 games

...When I went to buy my PS3 at the end of 2008, I was torn between buying the PS3 and the Xbox 360. I must admit one of the biggest factors between the 2 was the price, the Xbox's price tag was a lot lower, but I wanted online play and online cost a LOT in the long run with the Xbox. However the PS3 was a lot more expensive initially, the online was free, but that wasn't the only reason I chose the PS3... The Graphics on the PS3 are truly amazing, and I tried it without HD initially, but after hooking it up to my HDTV, I was blown away. One of the first games I played was Fifa 09, and I was quite honestly convinced that the start up picture of Ronaldinho, was actually a picture and refused to believe that it was actually computer generated after one of my friends told me! Advantages: Cheap Blu-Ray player, great graphics, free wifi, internet browser
Disadvantages: Expensive, some games are better on 360, 40 GB model doesn't have backwards compatability

...There are probably 3 categories of consumer: (1) Gamers with a HD TV who are also quite interested in the multimedia/blue ray angle. (2) Serious gamers either without a HD TV or who are not interested in high def for films etc.. (3) HD TV/ multimedia people who are not that interested in games. If you are in (1) or (3) categories then this is a bargain at the moment. One of the cheapest/best blue ray players with constant support. Now upscales dvds and supports divx etc.. Supports the very latest version of blu ray and is future proof. Sony can not afford to have this fail and the constant updates are great and frequent. Also of advantage (over other systems) are: Low failure rate, built in wifi (even on 40 gb model), no external plug, no external hd-dvd (blu ray built in), no annual online fees. Advantages: GREAT ONLINE FACILITIES; GRAPHICS; MEMORY

...This is probably the best thing I've ever bought. I got this when the price was reduced down to £299.99. The system overall is very good, lots of features and it has a lot of pluses but does have it's minuses too as explained below; Disadvantages; 1. PS3 Full of stuff

Advantages: great selection of accessories, games, films, music
Disadvantages: bit pricey

...The 60gb version is a bit on the expensive side, I'm not sure if there's a separate hard drive available but if there is I'm sure it won't cost over £150, which is how much more this version costs over the 30gb version. The graphics are the best of any console out, the games can also be much much bigger than Xbox 360 as it uses high def blue ray disks where the 360 uses standard dvds for its games. There's a massive array of accessories and 3rd party companies are making even more as it's usb connected. There's no need for memory cards because of the huge hard drive, online gaming is quick and easy as it's very easy to connect to your normal broadband connector. The console itself is a little bigger than i would have liked but no inch is wasted, it's packed full of features. I've had mine 4 months and I'm still finding new...
