Review of Bicycles by
fun2night4us
Advantages: Light weight
Disadvantages: Not the top of the line product
...cheap pedals with the bicycle, but if you want to upgrade your pedals to a clip type pedal have no frets it is as easy as 1,2,3. All you have to do is take either an allen wrench or regular wrench and remove the pedals from the crank shaft.
Maintenance on this bicycle is not much more than you would expect for any road bike. The wheels need to be trued every so often, which is more often than you would see on a Mountain bike but not to frequently. Ensure that you keep the crank set gears, rear cog and chain well lubricated and maintain the proper tension on the front and rear breaks. With the high pressure style tires you will need to ensure that they are inflated up to pressure (most road bike tires are between 90-120 psi) so not to damage the wheels. Damage to a wheel for a road bike can cost a bit more than your normal touring bike...

...From the seat downwards this bike is as sturdy and well manufactured as they come.
This is a full blown Cross Country Bicycle, able to withstand all the hard knocks you can throw at it.
Cross Country Attributes and Faults

There is no better bike in its weight class that can perform so well and effortlessly as this machine.
Its Tyres are made by Michelin and are of the soft knobbly rubber type, giving excellant grip on gravel, dirt or any loose terrain.
The Gearing as you would expect is made by Shimano and has 24 different positions, ideal for those steep hills .
Its Front Suspension is adjustable depending on how soft or how hard you want the front wheel to ride over the ground.
The Seat is a little uncomfortable if sat in for long periods of time which if you are riding across country you...

Cycling
Review of Everything that starts with C ... by
fun2night4us
Advantages: breath of fresh air
Disadvantages: can be tiring
...Okay I wrote a survey on my bike tires, one on my bike and even one on my biking shoes so I guess that it is only fitting that I right one on my cycling experiences. Well I don't feel that this will be to long since I had a long break during my cycling stints.
It all started out when I was just a kid. I was just like any other normal boy, I wanted a bicycle. My very first bike was just an old run of the mill used bicycle that you could pick up at almost any second hand shop back in the late 70's early 80's. Well the only thing special about it was that it had the hard solid rubber tires. I do mean hard too, I felt every little rock that was on my 1/4 mile dirt road. I had this bike for about 2 years I would say when for my birthday I finally recieved the BMX that I had been begging for. And yes, this one actually had inflatable...

I like to ride my bicycle
Review of Edinburgh Bicycle, Edinburgh by
dobieg
Advantages: everything you could want from a bike shop
Disadvantages: you can get carried away
...of the staff have best friends who own cars, but I'm not sure they would let their daughters marry one) - but it IS all about offering serious alternatives.
I especially like their range of what's now called 'Hybrid' bicycles; something as equally at home on a city road as on a muddy cycle track.
In olden days these would have been known as 'shopping bikes' - nowadays they take a 'comfortable' frame, attach road wheels, multi-speed gears and decent brakes - a compromise between the skinny racing cycles with razor thin saddles, and massively chunky mountain bikes.
They actively support pro-bicycle groups such as 'Spokes' - lobby local and national government to provide better facilities, and basically spend a lot of time pointing out that the internal combustion engine isn't the bee all and end all of private transport!
Don't mistake...

Finishline Wet Lubricant
Review of Finishline Wet Chain Lubricant by
helix1250
Advantages: Doesn't wash off in wet conditions
Disadvantages: Does attract dirt and mud
...be applied while the bike is warm and don't lubricate well in cold weather. This makes them terrific for off-road riding in warm weather, but a poor choice for cold weather use.
Finally, there are more exotic lubricants, also based on either petroleum or wax, but with added ingredients such as teflon, graphite and/or chemicals that manufacturers claim bond to metal and protect it. These claims are questionable, performance varies and some of these lubes are relatively expensive, but the aim is to create a lubricant that defies the basic properties of whatever it's based on (oil or wax). To the best of my knowledge, nobody has found that elusive super-lube yet, but some of these concoctions seem to work better under particular conditions than others.
Now that you have a better understanding of bicycle lubricants, here is the review...

Real off-roader
Review of Bicycles by
noel13
Advantages: Front disc brake , Excellent double suspension , looks the part .
Disadvantages: It calls it a Yankee Superbike
...My bike is a Harlem Yankee Superbike .
Age Groups:I would reccomend this bike to people of about 150cm tall or over(Roughly my height-Perfect size)as it is quite a large bike .
Quality:This bike is of the highest quality . I have done roughly 15 miles on it in the last 5 days as I moved into the countryside 6 days ago and it's roughly 2 and a half miles to the nearest villages and shops . During these five days I have rode on grass(The suspension is great on grass and feels as though your on a normal road) , gravel paths/roads(The breaks make it great to pull skids on this type of terrain , also the suspension is a great advantage) and a rocky footpath to a farm(Very good suspension yet still quite difficult to ride on) also the handlebars are of great quality , with easy change speed shimano gears(18 in total) .
Wear and Tear:I have...

Do children REALLY need suspension mountain bikes
Review of Blackburn CL-1 Custom Low-rider rack by
bigdgaff
Advantages: Comfortable
Disadvantages: Expensive, difficult to maintain, (sometimes) creates a false sense of security
...on full suspension bikes. I understand that parents want to buy the best for their children and sometimes give in to the constant "want, want, want", but by doing this, they may not be doing their children any favours at all.
I will start my analysis of childrens bicycles with the main over-riding factor which is cost. Many parants are a little tight on budget when their child wants their first bike, which usually means that the full suspension bike (FSB) they buy will be at the lower end of the range utilising fairly average components. A rigid bike of the same price will tend to be of a far higher quality and will also tend to be more reliable in terms of mechanical failures.
The next thing I will look at is the actual use of the bike. You will find that many children riding FSBs rarely, if ever, venture from the pavement. Everyone knows...
