Jordan evelopes you in an Epic World

Advantages: Great setting for the book, Excellent Characterisations, Very Descriptive to the point of reality
Disadvantages: Long- 1000 pages or so, Long seires (9 books), Not to be read in one afternoon

...I enjoy nothing more than a great fantasy book from some of this genres great authors: Tolkien, Feist and Magaret Weis to name a few. So when I got recommended The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan by someone on Dooyoo, I couldn’t wait to give it a go. The series that is at this moment 9 books long starts with what is dubbed an all time classic- ‘The Eye of the World’. So it was with this book that I entered another realm in entirety. The story line starts us in the little Hamlet of Emonds Field, home to three friends who are the focus of all the series, namely Rand al’Thor, Mat Cauthon and Perrin Aybara. After one night of destruction at the hands of an untold evil the three friends become entwined in a journey with two strange travellers Moraine and Lan. Also the characters of Thom Merrilin; a gleeman...

JORDAN - A Tourist's overview

Advantages: Wonderful country, with fantastic scenery and history
Disadvantages: Dangerous at present time (Jan '06)

...It is a real shame that at present, due to the on-going troubles in the Middle Eastern region, that Jordan is now listed by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the British Government as suffering from a high risk and threat of terrorism, which has lead to the closure of the British embassy in the capital Amman. I write a review though as a point of interest and with the hope that if things change in the Middle East, tourists from the West will once again feel safe and secure to visit this remarkably historic country. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Background ~~~~~~~~~~~ I visited The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, as it is officially known, prior to the 9/11 atrocities in June 2001, on a Pan-European trip of approximately 50 tourists from the UK, The Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Local ground handler UTA Jordan where...

Review of General: Jordan

Mr Jordan debut's

Advantages: Very accomplished and versatile
Disadvantages: Not stunning

...David Jordan - Set The Mood I bought this album from iTunes on the back of his single 'Sun Goes Down' which I have to say was refreshingly good and I loved the video, very quirky. David Jordan is only 23 and surprisingly (for his depth of musical style) is British, though born of Indian and West Indian parents. This is his debut album and is produced by Trevor Horn, more of a name in the 80's than now, he was regarded then a bit Like Mark Ronson is now, which is a coincidence as apparently (having read up on this like the geek I am), Amy Winehouse and David Jordan are big buddies, so I would not be surprised if Ronson features in this young mans career before too long. Anyway, I digress, the music. It is a quite weird album in many ways as it does not settle in one particular genre, as I review the tracks you will see what I...

Being Jordan - How hard can it be?

Advantages: Great read, manageable chapters.
Disadvantages: A little too much information on some of the people mentioned.

...'Being Jordan' is written by Katie Price who is a celebrity mother of three & married to Peter Andre. This book aims for Katie to explain what it is like to be 'Jordan' who is her alter-ego and the person that she claims to be when she is being a topless model or hosting a chat-show etc. The book is very well written and gives a great insight in to the early life of Katie as well as when she first met her husband Peter Andre on 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here' Katie is not ashamed of her life and will tell you things about herself that a lot of people would definitely want to keep to themselves. There are quite a few touching subjects spoken about in this book such as distressing incidents that happened to her when she was younger and talking about the birth of her first son Harvey and the tragic events that unfolded that have...

Review of Being Jordan - Katie Price

Jordan's side of the story..

Advantages: Fully of juicy gossip, a good quick read
Disadvantages: A bit on the short side

...I bought this book on Ebay (for about a fifth of the RRP £16.99!) after reading mixed reviews, and figured I'd just have to find out for myself if this book was all it was made out to be. I personally have always found Katie Price, aka Jordan quite intriguing. I've watched many documentaries about her, gaining a brief insight into her life and they have always shown her in a good light. After watching an episode of the most recent television programme featuring Katie; 'Katie and Peter: The Next Chapter' which is shown on ITV2, I finally decided I should definitely read this book. 'Being Jordan' is the first of her two autobiographies and I found it an extremely compelling read. If you're looking for a book that is intellectually stimulating , then this probably isn't for you. However, if you would like to find out a few things...

Review of Being Jordan - Katie Price

In Jordan's World, What Did Katie Do?

Advantages: Easy reading if nothing else
Disadvantages: Sounds arrogant in some parts

...I actually bought this book a while ago as part of a buy 2 get the third free. I had fancied reading it for a while but I wasn't of the inclination to actually go out and pay full whack for it, so getting it free was great. I'm always curious when someone so young like Katie Price writes their autobiography, surely they should wait until their 50's to write one? Then you think about it, if Katie Price can cash in, then why shouldn't she? She has accomplished quite a lot at a young age and maybe she feels she will do better to continue her autobiographical writings throughout her life rather than wait till she's a has-been and no-one is interested in her any more. As always, I am an open minded reader, I don't make judgements so here is my review of Being Jordan by Katie Price... JUST WHO IS KATIE PRICE...

Jordan Give Up The Fags

Advantages: See text of opinion
Disadvantages: See text of opinion

...~ ~ It’s almost upon us again! Soon the engines will roar and all the beautiful people will return from their winter “hibernation” in sunnier climes, as the big boys of the motor racing world gear up for this season’s Formula One opener, the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne this coming weekend. (3/3/02) The Irish, off course, will have an interest, as one of our favoured sons, Eddie Jordan, tries once again to lift his Jordan team from the also ran position it has occupied in the last couple of years into the big boy’s league of motor sport. ~ ~ There have been many “false dawns” at Jordan since they made their Formula One debut back in 1991. They won their very first Grand Prix in 1998, with former 1996 World Champion Damon Hill behind the wheel, and in a car powered by a Mugen...

Review of Jordan

Jordan lets himself down.

Advantages: Complex characters with interesting take on the good versues evil theme
Disadvantages: Not as good as his previous work

...The book is an enjoyable read for those people who haven't read much of Robert Jordan's work but to be really honest this book and its companion, Winters Heart (Book 9 of the Wheel Of time series) is basically a filler, something for fans of Robert Jordan to read whilst he sorts out what he wants to write in the next installment. If someone who has never read a Wheel of time book reads it, then it will be an acceptable read but with plenty of questions such as 'who is that person?','what is his/her role in this situation?' The book closes a few unanswered questions about Mat,the Daughter of the Nine Moons, Rand's madness and Cadsuane's role in Rand's future. It also leaves a few cliffhangers, such as why do the Ashaman want to kill Rand, where are all the Forsaken whilst Rand is flitting about doing his best to unite the world...

A romantic whodunnit from Nora Roberts

Advantages: An absorbing read
Disadvantages: A little predictable

... ANGELS FALL NORA ROBERTS In this book - "Angels Fall" - Nora Roberts mixes mystery and romance. This book, published in 2006, contains three main subplots in the story -- a murder mystery, Reece's romance with Brody, and Reece's struggle to gain back normality. Ms Roberts manages to incorporate the three aspects together resulting into and novel. The story starts with the heroine, cook Reece Gilmore, as her car has broken down in Angel's Fist, Wyoming. Reece decides decides to stay in the little town for a day - but that day turns into months as she takes a a job as a cook in the local diner, rents the apartment upstairs and settles into town life at Angel's Fist.
