Fishing however, remained the legitimate mainstay of the village before that industry's decline in the late 19th century. But, the coming of the railway and the consequent growth in tourism ensured the village's survival. There's no railway now of course, but the tourists still keep a-coming.
There's not a lot in the way of attractions, the village itself is the draw, but there are a couple of things that might be of interest. There's Smugglers - an exhibition of life in the18th century with the emphasis on...you've guessed it, smuggling. Upstairs is the Music in Miniature Exhibition. This sounded quite interesting, but unfortunately it wasn't open (Apparently, it only opened recently so I don't think it's gone out of business already. There's also the RobinHood's Bay Museum which has displays on the local geology, farming...

...~~FILM ONLY REVIEW~~
Robin is being held prisoner by the Turks but his friend Azeem helps him to escape. The pair team up and make their way back to England where Robin is faced with his land being taken over by the Sheriff of Nottingham, who is trying to overthrown the King. Robins search leads him to find his father murdered and their butler without eyes. Robin soon discovers that all this happened because his Father refused to stand with the Sheriff and give him his land.
Robin soon sets off to find his childhood friend Maid Marian with the hope that she can help him get his land back and finally take down the Sheriff but he soon learns that Marian cannot help him. Robin now decides that he will go to Sherwood Forest and start his campaign. It is here where he meets Little John and befriends him and soon he is introduced to...
Advantages: Dramatic, Good Acting, Fantastic Soundtrack, Brilliant Plot! Disadvantages: Would have loved more Special Features :(
...'. However don't let that put you off, this really is his big break and expect you will see the young actor very soon in other projects, after RobinHood. He is an excellent actor, playing Hood passionately yet cheekily at times. I really enjoyed watching him portray Hood, as he was able to show another side that I had not yet seen yet.
Keith Allen - Plays the ruthless Sheriff of Nottingham brilliantly. One of my favourite characters in the series as Allan plays him so cruelly yet really shows off a sly side. Allen is probibly best known for his acting credits and music and of course being the dad of Lily Allen. One of the finest actors in the series and definately stands out.
Richard Armitage - Plays the Black Knight Sir Guy Gibson, the Sheriff of Nottinghams faithful sidekick. I first saw him on the Vicar of Dibley as he was...
Advantages: Great stuff Disadvantages: A few errors, but nothing major
...RobinHood Prince of Thieves is the 1991 take on the legend of RobinHood, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. This film was hailed as one of the biggest films of the 1990s, especially by women (!) and features an all star cast and a soundtrack including Bryan Adams' 'Everything I do' which spent about a million weeks at number 1 in the charts. Director Kevin Reynolds gives us a rollicking feature length display of sword fighting, comedy, action and romance, and the cast do as is required and give us a damn good film.
Robin of Locksley (Kevin Costner) has been away fighting in the Crusades. Escaping with a Moor named Azeem (Morgan Freeman) he heads back to his native England after many years to see his father and live out the rest of his life in peace. Not so much luck! In the King's absence, his evil brother John has taken...
...RobinHood's Bay is in my opinion one of the most beautiful places to visit in this country. Situated just a few miles south of Whitby, there is so much to see and do as well as beautiful landscapes to explore. Having just come back from my 4th trip there, I am eager to book my next trip away at the beggining of next year.
RobinHoods Bay itself is a small village full of lovely little shops, sweet shops, a few pubs and a beautiful beach. The Old Coastguard Station is a great place to visit to find out about high tides and rock pools, while the Village Hall regularly holds exhibitions with local artwork for sale and as a visitor you honestly feel just as welcome as any of the locals.
The RobinHood's Bay Museum is totally run by volunteers and is really interesting. The things to view include a history of the village and it gives...
Advantages: A Great Film Disadvantages: What Disadvantages?
...Well this film has to be one of the best around. I apsolutely love this film and this new special edition really adds to the experience. Crammed full of special features I can watch this film over and over again.
--- Brief Synopsis ---
The story follows the traditional story of robinhood, which if you haven't heard it (where have you been if you haven't?) is as follows. Son of a rich nobleman (Robin of Locksley) returns from the third crusade where he has been fighting with Richard the Lion Heart. On his return he discovers that the evil brother prince John (later king john) aided by the sheriff of Nottingham has userpt the throne, he has also excommunicated Robin's father. Finding no friends in enlands nobility he is force to flee into Sherwood forest where he meets and joins a band of outlaws. He then wages a guerrilla war...
Advantages: Funny, has Cary Ewles in it Disadvantages: Random at parts
...RobinHood: Men In Tights, is one of my favourite comedy movies. First because I love RobinHood, and second because I love Cary Ewles.
The story is about... RobinHood, and everyone should sort of know that story. Except that it has a twist, it is a spoof movie. It is directed by Mel Brooks and stars Cary Ewles, as the famous RobinHood.
RobinHood as usual robs from the rich to give to the poor, so with the comedy spin off, Robin is doing just that. While getting the attentions of the beautiful Maid Marian played by Amy Yasbeck. With the artful music of the merry men (they do a little song and dance).
Mel Brooks completely turns the story upside down adding comedic value to it. Such as adding a blind man as one of the merry men, and having his house pulled away like it was on wheels. Or one of my favourite scenes, which is...
Advantages: Fantastic Acting, Drama, Stories, Action, Fight Scenes, Romance and Price Disadvantages: Difficult to understand if haven't watched first volumes.
...really shows off a sly side. Allen is probibly best known for his acting credits and music and of course being the dad of Lily Allen. One of the finest actors in the series and definately stands out as a horrible yet dark humoured man.
Richard Armitage - I can't think of anyone who hasn't heard of Richard Armitage! He plays the Black Knight Sir Guy Gibson, the Sheriff of Nottinghams faithful sidekick. I first saw him on the Vicar of Dibley as he was the one who ended up marrying our favourite vicar! He is best known for his Shakespearian acting, and in many of popular TV shows such as 'Miss Marple' 'Spooks' and 'Ultimate Force'.
Lucy Griffiths - Plays the fantastic, fiesty and simply beautiful Maid Marion. She really shines in RobinHood, playing the very intelligent yet exceptionally fiesty Marion. However she gives a twist...
...When my friend came to visit me from Austria, I was a bit stuck on things to do, and places to visit, as I'd never properly explored Nottingham. But of course, we had to see some of the RobinHood sights! So off I went to the tourist information centre, and picked up every leaflet going (most of which ended up in the bin!). I needed somewhere cheap and easy to get to. Unfortunately Sherwood Forest was out of the question, no car and lack of info on public transport there. Suddenly out of the corner of my eye I spotted a voucher, buy one adult ticket, get one free for the Tales of RobinHood! We had initially ruled the place out as the entry is a tad expensive, but with this voucher of course we'd go!
It's really easy to find, on Maid Marion Way, just off the Market Square. I would suggest public transport to get there as it is close...
Advantages: Outstanding composition and scoring Disadvantages: Bit rough around the edges in parts
...RobinHood Prince of Thieves is a Warner Brothers film starring Kevin Costner as Robin of Locksley and Alan Rickman as an outstanding Sheriff of Nottingham. Also starring in the film are Morgan Freeman, Christian Slater and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, but the show is stolen in the last few seconds by the arrival of Sean Connery as King Richard.
This is a review of the score, so I won't describe the plot here apart from to mention that it contains some rather silly moments. The music was composed by Michael Kamen, who sadly died at the age of only 55 in November 2003. His death was a great loss to the music commuity at large, Kamen having worked with a huge variety of musicians, including Queen, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, Metallica and Sting as well as his more classical works. For those of you who are interested in that kind of thing...
