Robin Hood in Sherwood Forest?

Advantages: Relaxed Environment, Plenty to do, Fab Accommodation
Disadvantages: Costly to eat out.

...As some of you may recall I recently was awarded a diamond for my review on Center Parcs the Oasis Whinfell Forest back in September so I decided that when I went back last week that I would write up a review of my next visit?. Sherwood Forest. Last time I just went for the weekend which was the Friday to the Monday as cars are only permitted on both of these days. Advertised in Oasis was a Welcome Back Discount for up to 25% if you booked another trip within 28 days of returning. My boyfriend and I decided to take full advantage of this the cost of the break was £407.00 for the midweek stay 19-23Dec and received a 20% discount, as we were saving so much money we decided to upgrade to a more luxurious apartment and opted for the Executive Penthouse Apartment. ~*About Sherwood Forest*~ All Center Parcs locations are set in relaxing...

Robin Hood, Robin Hood Riding through the glen..............

Advantages: Great acting,excellent storyline and effects
Disadvantages: None from me

On a trip down Memory Lane with The Hooded Man

Advantages: Landmark series, just the right mix of action, drama and comedy
Disadvantages: Are there any?

...On one of my regular visits to Play.com, I was enormously surprised, and not just a little bit delighted to see that they were selling all three seasons of one of my favourite programs of yesteryear at a highly discounted and very pleasing price. The program in question ... Robin of Sherwood, one that in my opinion is the treatment of the Robin Hood myth against which all others are judged and found to be lacking. Of course I decided there and then to snap them up at the extremely reason price of £10.49 each for seasons 1 and 2 and £20.98 for season 3, and then discovered just how popular they were, as they had already run out of stock and I had to wait nearly three weeks to get them. ROBIN HOOD'S BAY

Advantages: Beautifully preserved and evocative

...I've always wondered why Robin Hood's Bay was in North Yorkshire and not in Nottinghamshire. One explanation might be that Nottinghamshire, being landlocked, is not over-endowed with bays. Another is the sheer logistics of moving it from one county to another. Robin Hood's Bay is around 5 miles south of Whitby, and some 15 miles north of Scarborough on the North Sea coast of North Yorks. I've researched a little, and I can find no explanation of why this place has such an interesting name - it doesn't matter anyway. There are records dating back from 1536, apparently, of a small settlement of around 50 houses and 20 fishing boats but nothing about its namesake. Besides, the locals prefer to call it Bay Town. There may be some tenuous connection to the 'Prince of Thieves' though. Fishing has always been the mainstay of this...

...equipped and well fed outlaws living in the woods of medieval England is just untenable and seems to exist only in the minds of Hollywood moguls. What was so appealing about Robin of Sherwood was that it was small scale and grubby but still managed to portray a sense of heroics and mysticism as well as great story lines. The premise differs little from the traditional storyline initially, Robin is a disenfranchised noble who, in order to hide from the local barons becomes an outlaw and retires to the forest to clear his name, overthrow the injustices of society and generally put the world to rights. What is added to the story at this point is one of the unique flavours of the show. Robin meets Herne the Hunter, god of the forest and a last link to the pagan beliefs of ancient times. Herne turns out to be not a god but a man, a priest...

Nothing's Forgotten..Nothing is ever forgotten

...If I was asked which was my favourite television series from my teenage years, I would have to say it was Robin of Sherwood. I don't know if it was the fantastic mix of drama, action, romance and comedy, the gritty realism or just the fact I fancied the pants off a couple of the stars, but I've never seen a better portrayal of the Robin Hood legend. For almost twenty years the only way I could relive these memories was by renting the videos from the library as they weren't available on DVD (and I don't buy VHS). My New Addiction - Robin Hood?

Advantages: Dramatic, Good Acting, Fantastic Soundtrack, Brilliant Plot!
Disadvantages: Would have loved more Special Features :(

This DVD contains the first five episodes of the BBC new series about the legendary outlaw, Robin Hood. This was first shown on the BBC, and later released as DVD's, however they can now be bought as a full box set, and no longer per every 5 episodes. Review of Robin Hood - Series 1 Vol.1 (DVD)

Robin Hood mixes comedy, romance and action

Advantages: Great stuff
Disadvantages: A few errors, but nothing major

...Robin Hood Prince of Thieves is the 1991 take on the legend of Robin Hood, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. This film was hailed as one of the biggest films of the 1990s, especially by women (!) and features an all star cast and a soundtrack including Bryan Adams' 'Everything I do' which spent about a million weeks at number 1 in the charts. ...and enjoyable. Sherwood seem to have a mastery of clean, smooth vocal harmonies and voices that sound great together, and their live act is suprisingly consistent, even on the often high, non-stop vocals....

Look, among the branches, it's Robin Hood!

Advantages: Fantastically cheap, loads of wonderful things to see and do
Disadvantages: Can be extremely packed in warm weather
