ROBIN HOOD'S BAY
Advantages: Beautifully preserved and evocative
Disadvantages: STEEP
...I've always wondered why Robin Hood's Bay was in North Yorkshire and not in Nottinghamshire. One explanation might be that Nottinghamshire, being landlocked, is not over-endowed with bays. Another is the sheer logistics of moving it from one county to another.
Robin Hood's Bay is around 5 miles south of Whitby, and some 15 miles north of Scarborough on the North Sea coast of North Yorks. I've researched a little, and I can find no explanation of why this place has such an interesting name - it doesn't matter anyway.
There are records dating back from 1536, apparently, of a small settlement of around 50 houses and 20 fishing boats but nothing about its namesake. Besides, the locals prefer to call it Bay Town.
There may be some tenuous connection to the 'Prince of Thieves' though. Fishing has always been the mainstay of this...

The pair team up and make their way back to England where Robin is faced with his land being taken over by the Sheriff of Nottingham, who is trying to overthrown the King. Robins search leads him to find his father murdered and their butler without eyes. FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included,new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

My New Addiction - Robin Hood?
Advantages: Dramatic, Good Acting, Fantastic Soundtrack, Brilliant Plot!
Disadvantages: Would have loved more Special Features :(
...I am a Robin Hood addict. (Richard Armitage and Jonas Armstrong are just one of the reasons... If you get my drift)
What Is It?
This DVD contains the first five episodes of the BBC new series about the legendary outlaw, Robin Hood. This was first shown on the BBC, and later released as DVD's, however they can now be bought as a full box set, and no longer per every 5 episodes. There are three volumes in this series, all of which I own. This is another take on the outlaw, and is seen to give him a new light and make him much more exciting and thrilling. This is PG rated and is suitable for children, as long as you don't mind them watching the odd sword fight.
Since 2006, a new series of Robin Hood was shown on the BBC and most recently series 3 is on our screens. I watched the first episode of series one and since then have...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Robin Hood mixes comedy, romance and action
Advantages: Great stuff
Disadvantages: A few errors, but nothing major
...Robin Hood Prince of Thieves is the 1991 take on the legend of Robin Hood, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. This film was hailed as one of the biggest films of the 1990s, especially by women (!) and features an all star cast and a soundtrack including Bryan Adams' 'Everything I do' which spent about a million weeks at number 1 in the charts. Director Kevin Reynolds gives us a rollicking feature length display of sword fighting, comedy, action and romance, and the cast do as is required and give us a damn good film.
Robin of Locksley (Kevin Costner) has been away fighting in the Crusades. Escaping with a Moor named Azeem (Morgan Freeman) he heads back to his native England after many years to see his father and live out the rest of his life in peace. Not so much luck! In the King's absence, his evil brother John has taken...

Christopher Robin Goes to Skull
Advantages: nice litle adventure with Pooh and friends
Disadvantages: not quite up to the standrard one associates with the franchise
...Poor Pooh! It's the last day of summer, and wanting to have a another grand day of summer playtime with all his friends, he discovers that Christopher Robin cannot come to play. Christopher Robin has left him a note instead, which Pooh and his friends read with great alarm. he has gone to Skull! Oh no! They must save him from the dangers of Skull before something dreadful happens! What follows is a story of friendship and bravery as Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and the gang set out to save their best friend, Christopher Robin. But just where is Skull, and what dangers might this scary sounding place have? They don't know, but they decide to face it all anyway, out of love.
This is a feature length film for young fans of Winnie the Pooh, and it's one of the better ones though by no means the best. The animation doesn't have the look...

The Robin Friday Story
Advantages: Fascinating and funny, a genuine untold story
Disadvantages: Stilted presentation
...The Greatest Footballer You Never Saw - The Robin Friday Story
Paul McGuigan and Paolo Hewitt
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The seventies were a golden age for football. Matches shown in colour on the telly, scarves tied around wrists and jumpers for goalposts no doubt. I say this with all the false confidence of someone who has precious little recollection of the times having been little more than a nipper at the time.
My key memories of the time though are of long hair, big sideburns and water logged footballs that would break your neck if you headed them. But that decade was about more than just that, the seventies was the age of the Hard Man. Proper Hard Men who had proper nicknames: Ron 'Chopper' Harris, Norman 'Bite your Legs' Hunter and Tommy 'Rip Your Head Off and Spit Down Your Neck' Smith. To be fair I'm guessing that last...
Visit Robin Hoods Bay, a quirky picturesque village just outside
Advantages: Outstanding scenery, themed weekends, friendly locals, sea air!
Disadvantages: Absolutely none - oh the hill!
...Robin Hood's Bay is in my opinion one of the most beautiful places to visit in this country. Situated just a few miles south of Whitby, there is so much to see and do as well as beautiful landscapes to explore. Having just come back from my 4th trip there, I am eager to book my next trip away at the beggining of next year.
Robin Hoods Bay itself is a small village full of lovely little shops, sweet shops, a few pubs and a beautiful beach. The Old Coastguard Station is a great place to visit to find out about high tides and rock pools, while the Village Hall regularly holds exhibitions with local artwork for sale and as a visitor you honestly feel just as welcome as any of the locals.
The Robin Hood's Bay Museum is totally run by volunteers and is really interesting. The things to view include a history of the village and it gives...
Robin Hood Prince of Films
Advantages: A Great Film
Disadvantages: What Disadvantages?
...Well this film has to be one of the best around. I apsolutely love this film and this new special edition really adds to the experience. Crammed full of special features I can watch this film over and over again.
--- Brief Synopsis ---
The story follows the traditional story of robin hood, which if you haven't heard it (where have you been if you haven't?) is as follows. Son of a rich nobleman (Robin of Locksley) returns from the third crusade where he has been fighting with Richard the Lion Heart. On his return he discovers that the evil brother prince John (later king john) aided by the sheriff of Nottingham has userpt the throne, he has also excommunicated Robin's father.
