The adventures of Robinson Crusoe
Advantages: rich in symbolism, giving a good insight into the zietgeist of the time
Disadvantages: slow paced and often dull, Crusoe is often hard to sympathise with
...Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe, depicts an 18th century trader gripped by a wanderlust who finds himself shipwrecked on a tropical island where he is forced to cultivate hidden survival skills, re-evaluating his own values in the process. The story is told retrospectively by Crusoe and written in a style which is extremely dry and thorough, and much of it is very tedious to read through.
Crusoe busies himself not just with the business of survival but with technological and economic advancement and the pursuit of luxury, all of which is documented exhaustively. The reader is subjected to endless painstaking descriptions of Crusoe's trial and error attempts to bake clay pots, breed goats and sow corn, interspersed with jaunts across the deserted island as Crusoe does his best to stave off loneliness and boredom. The often crushing...

Robinsons Be Natural - Apple & Strawberry
Advantages: No added preservatives, sweeteners or artifical colours
Disadvantages: Price and sweetness
...I love squash and always try to have a couple of bottles in the house. I generally like the fruit and barley ranges and drink Robinsons (when on offer) and Tesco. When I went shopping a while ago I was looking for squash and noticed the new Robinsons Be Natural range was on offer for 99p per bottle and I'd seen the adverts on telly too (with the little bird that comes home and drinks his squash with the man clock!) so I thought I'd try it out.
I bought the apple and strawberry flavour and it comes in a 600ml bottle, I normally get 1 litre so it is smaller, and it states you get 17 servings out of it but I couldn't say for sure as I use big glasses and I think it depends on how strong you like your squash. The bottle (and the advert) state clearly that it is squash made from naturally sourced ingredients but there is nothing else to...

Here's to you Mrs Robinson...
Advantages: So well-written, absorbing, well developed characters, FANTASTIC!
Disadvantages: Nothing
...My mum actually lent me this book after she found out that I had read Donna Hay's debut novel and loved it. Well she told me that this was a hundred times better than that one, and I would love this one, so I thought it was well worth a go! And yes, my good old mum was completely right, I loved this, and read the whole thing in a matter of days, I could hardly put it down!
The book itself is called The Two Mrs Robinsons, which kind of gives you a hint in itself as to what the book is going to be about. The story follows two women, Eve and Anna who are both in love with one man, Oliver Robinson. Now here is the snag. Eve has 2 children with him, Matt and Georgina, and has been married to Oliver for 20 odd years. But then Oliver left her and her children to be with Anna, who he now has a 3 year old son with. So Mr Robinson has been...

Summer = Wimbledon = Robinsons Lemon Barley Water
Advantages: Refreshing, makes a great cold drink in the summer
Disadvantages: Quite a bit of sugar - but perhaps not as much as some squashes?
...The end of June means Wimbledon, which means my mum spends a lot of time flicking between various tennis matches on TV. This late June/early July ritual is accepted as the norm in our house and such tennis exposure means that I have developed a good bit of Wimbledon general knowledge - and one trivial snippet that's made its way into my "things I just know" memory bank is that Robinsons drinks are always around on the court. I always assumed this to be down to some type of sponsorship deal going on (ets face it, you can't get much better advertising space than 10 hours or so per day on the BBC for a fortnight a year) but actually, the back of the bottle in our fridge tells me that Robinsons made the drink for the Wimbledon players back in 1934.
A litre costs £1.46 at Tesco (assuming the price on their website is up-to-date) and it...

By Royal Appointment-Robinsons Blackcurrant Squash
Advantages: Refreshing and versatile
Disadvantages: none
...My young niece came to stay for the half term week and brought with her a supply of favourite goodies 'just in case' we didn't have them. One item she brought was Robinsons apple and blackcurrant, no added sugar, squash. She was quite right because although we had the orange squash, since every one has all ways said they didn't like blackcurrant, we didn't have this at home. So she did us all a favour because we all ended up liking it and I will probably be buying it again.
○◊○ Who are Robinsons? ○◊○
The company started as Robinson & Belville in 1823 making 'patent barley and groats'. Patent barley was sold in powder form to which boiling water was added to make into a drink. In 1862 the company merged with Keen & Son, which was a mustard business. In 1903 they were then acquired by...

Slake your thirst on Robinson's.
Advantages: 50% juice, a well known,trusted Brand.
Disadvantages: Expensive.
...I bet you if Robinson Crusoe had had this drink(after his own name no less)stuck on that desert island he might have spat it out in
disgust;for, despite this bottle's claim of 50% real fruit,it's not QUITE the same as the REAL stuff growing ripe and glistening in the sun on your typical island in the trees, now,is it!..
Not withstanding,I hasten to add,it's not too bad for US!(Albeit,a rather poor imitation!)
Well, not really..Half the toddlers I know drink this stuff, and the Queen's imperial Majesty has her sign of "usage" stamped proudly upon it's plastic shoulders,so we are led to believe this has got to be better than the ordinary Robinsons' squash.
As I am no expert on the matter-I'm not vouching for either, incase of a flood of e-mails telling me contary!
Robinson's have been around since "Enid Blyton" paddington Bear...

For all your horse & riding needs
Advantages: Good prices, quick delivery, large range of items for horses & dogs
Disadvantages: Delivery price a bit high
...We have recently loaned a pony for my daughter and as she had a show coming up we started shopping for all the bits and bobs she would need for grooming etc so she would have the best chance of winning. We were told about Robinsons and advised to give them a try.
Shopping With Robinsons
There are several ways of shopping with Robinsons. If you are lucky enough to live close to either Ahton-in-Makerfield, Wigan or Bridgtown, Cannock (store opening Autumn 2008) then you can go directly to the store to pick up the bits you need. Go to http://www.robinsons-uk.com/content/content.asp?id=61 for details. You can also order by mail order and can request a catalogue online. Go to https://www.robinsons-uk.com/requestcatalogue/requestcatalogue.asp to do this. But by far the best way, for me at least, is by shopping directly online...

The best of Robinsons
Advantages: Tastes great and is a quality product
Disadvantages: None
...I must be honest, I absolutely adore almost every dilutable squash that Robinsons produce. I am only young so I still have quite a liking for squash as it's what i was brought up with. I also do a lot of sport so I need to consume a lot of liquid and squash allows you to drink a lot of water with just a bit of flavour. I much prefer squash to soft drinks such as Coca Cola for two reasons. The first is that squash does a better job at quenching your thirst and Coke makes you feel even more thirstry. The second is that soft drinks are very unhelathy. They contain lots of sugar and sweetners which are bad for you. Some scientists have also said that you may contract throat cancer if you consume fizzy drinks on a regular basis.
Now back to the product itself. I have pretty much worked my way through the Robinsons' entire product range...
