The story was interesting because firstly it centred on the lives of three very different contrasting characters that, only shared a wonderful talent. It was fascinating to see what happened to them as the novel went chronologically through all the highs and lows of their lives, all the main developments that went to make them all Rock Stars. Yes in some ways it was shallow, the way these fortunate people enjoyed such a lavish lifestyle. Full of beautiful young men and women who?s only leisure time pursuit seemed to be having sex. Rock and roll for the masses

Advantages: Great actors and characters, enjoyable, great music
Disadvantages: It loses its way sometimes, a bit long

...really isn't too graphic. Like most films, The Boat That Rocked does have its flaws. It is incredibly long, for a start, at 135 minutes. Watching it on DVD, that didn't bother me too much, but I think it could have definitely have been edited down a fair bit. I also felt that the film didn't really have an identity. There is so much going on and so many characters involved that it lost its way at times. The basic plot is that the government want to shut the radio station down, but at times, it was possible to forget about all that, because it really did seem to be in the background. And it was perhaps a mistake to have so many leading characters - it was hard to concentrate on any one person and their story because there were so many other stories going on at the same time. It is probably a film that will improve with watching, because...

...The Rock, situated on Cherry Hinton Road in Cambridge is not the first place you'd expect a hairy-arsed Scotsman to adopt as his local. Either I've got a poor sense of direction or this must one helluva pub. Or, far more likely, I was working in Cambridge and staying just a couple of hundred metres along the road. You can't miss The Rock. Maybe it's the standard English 'roadhouse-style' building, perhaps it's the pale yellow wash of the exterior walls, or even the banners proclaiming 'good food' and 'live music' which catch the eye. No matter, it's there in all it's magnificence with a sign saying 'The Rock'. What a giveaway. The pub is most definitely split in two. The bar is sport themed, in particular football. In fact, if your not a fan of the beautiful game, the bar is probably not for you. TV screens are strategically placed...

Rocking Fantastic!

Advantages: Pure unadulterated entertainment
Disadvantages: Loss of many hours of otherwise productive personal life

...Ok so what is it we are most interested in here, the graphics? Acceptable. The sound? Good. The controller? satisfyingly chunky and guitar like. The value for money? Good if you can find an offer on it below the RRP which at this stage in the games life should not be a problem. Or is it that here is a chance to stride around your living room acting like the rock god you have always known you would be if only you had picked up that guitar back when you were young? I for one bought this game because of the latter and it has not disappointed and entertainment has definately come from 2 different sources. The first is that the first time I switched the game on with my girlfriend sitting in a nearby chair I was reasonably confident that I would be able to make at least a passable attempt at one of the first tracks straight away and then...

Advantages: An awesome game that will keep you hapy
Disadvantages: Bit expensive!

...cannot name all of these songs but know that most are good old fashioned rock songs. Some are newer than others but still are all great choices for this game. Here are some examples: 3's and 7's - Queens of the Stone Age Knights of cydonia - Muse Paint it black - Rolling stones One - Metallic Sabotage - beastie boys Bulls on parade - Rage against the machine Even flow - pearl jam The metal - tenacious D Sunshine of your love - Cream There are also many classics. Most of the songs are performed by the actual bands but some are impersonators. Its quite hard to notice however! Also you are going to face people like Slash , Tom morello and Big Lou in battles.
