Memorable Montreal!

Advantages: Historical city, lots to see and do, decent prices, fascinating history

...music festival. There were artists from French speaking countries such as France, Belgium and Switzerland. We briefly saw some bands, and notable were a group of ladies playing some sort of rock with violins, who we dubbed "Le Dixie Chicks". The festival saw one end of rue Ste-Catherine shut off to traffic, and teeming with people watching the various stages, ordering drinks from the beer tents and buying CDs from the music tents. CONCLUSION I have a real soft spot for Montreal, and have a great time every visit. I find the Francophone population very friendly and every time I go the place seems more prosperous, a place on the up. The fact that it's a very walkable city makes it a great destination for non drivers such as me, and the European feel to it gives it an interesting flavour for a North American city. Smoked meat for the Montreal masses

Advantages: Superb smoked meat, genuine Montreal experience
Disadvantages: Not for vegetarians!

Montreal is one of my favourite North American cities, and on this, my fourth visit there, I finally have the pleasure of reviewing the legendary Schwartz's Deli. Lying to the east of the centre of the city, this place is something of a Montreal institution, and is mentioned in every guidebook I have ever read as THE place to go for smoked meat. I always make a point of going there when in Montreal. The first time I ever went there, following my guidebook and entering on my own, I was a bit worried as to what the meat actually was, as I don't eat pork. Montreal's Olympic Park

Advantages: Lots to see, great tower
Disadvantages: Some parts very shabby, tour not long enough

...The olympic stadium was high on our list of priorities when we went to Montreal as it seems to be my boyfriend's ambition to visit every olympic stadium ever built - much to my dismay! But it turned out to be well worth a look. HISTORY: Montreal was awarded the the olympics by the IOC in 1970. Representatives travelled to Munich in 1972 to see how they managed the games. The construction of the site began in 1973 and the games were held 3 years later in 1976. Not all of the complex was finished for the games. The tower was not completely finished until 1987. After the Olympics the stadium became home to the Montreal baseball team (until they moved to Washington D.C.). It now holds various sporting events and trade shows. Montreal - Notre Dame Basilica

...Montreal was the first city my wife and I visited on our tour of Eastern Canada. Our impression was of a large city with many very high rise office buildings, many, many shops and quite a lot of things to do. The evenings in Montreal can be spent looking around the hundreds of shops in the underground areas. There are many many miles of these shopping areas which can be explored. Another place to go is the Olympic Stadium which held the games of 1976. One of the most impressive buildings is the Notre Dame Basilica (a large church). From the outside it does not look as good. ...Guitar Hero 3 - Legends of Rock!!! My husband and I love our Wii and are always looking for new games and when Guitar Hero came out we knew we had to get it. I had heard about it alot from other people and from reading reviews for other games systems so was excited when I saw it had come out for Wii. We bought the game pack from Argos for £69.99, a bit steep for a new computer game but bear in mind that you are not only getting a game but also the hardware to go with it, namely the guitar. The guitar is plastic and I would say almost as big as a real guitar but not quite. It looks and feels like a real guitar so already the game has an authentic feel to it. The story was interesting because firstly it centred on the lives of three very different contrasting characters that, only shared a wonderful talent. It was fascinating to see what happened to them as the novel went chronologically through all the highs and lows of their lives, all the main developments that went to make them all Rock Stars. Yes in some ways it was shallow, the way these fortunate people enjoyed such a lavish lifestyle. Full of beautiful young men and women who?s only leisure time pursuit seemed to be having sex. Rock and roll for the masses

Advantages: Great actors and characters, enjoyable, great music
Disadvantages: It loses its way sometimes, a bit long

...really isn't too graphic. Like most films, The Boat That Rocked does have its flaws. It is incredibly long, for a start, at 135 minutes. Watching it on DVD, that didn't bother me too much, but I think it could have definitely have been edited down a fair bit. I also felt that the film didn't really have an identity. There is so much going on and so many characters involved that it lost its way at times. The basic plot is that the government want to shut the radio station down, but at times, it was possible to forget about all that, because it really did seem to be in the background. And it was perhaps a mistake to have so many leading characters - it was hard to concentrate on any one person and their story because there were so many other stories going on at the same time.
