Roda - perfect relaxing break
Advantages: Beautiful resort - great people
Disadvantages: Very Quiet
...Roda, Corfu is an excellent holiday if you are looking for a relaxing trip with great weather, lovely food and friendly locals. This is the perfect holiday for couples or older tourists. The scenery is beautiful, very green and plenty of olive groves. The beach was peaceful on both of our visits - but this was September. The beach was pebbles and I prefer sand, but the water was shallow and crystal clear.
We stayed in the same block of apartments on both visits and even a year later, the owners remembered our names, and some of the shop owners also remembered. This is maybe because I am exceptionally white and Scottish and they maybe see more English tourists? But I think they just take a real interest and appreciate folk coming back.
The food is brilliant especially the greek salads with feta and olives. The beef was very tasty...

Corel Hotel, Roda Corfu
Advantages: Cheap, good atmosphere
Disadvantages: Old and in need of a tidy up
...Coral Hotel, Roda Corfu
INTRO
Not knowing where to go for hols this year we decided to convert our Tesco vouchers and go for a free holiday. The one place that always seemed to come up was the Corel Hotel in Corfu.
All the pictures and info on the net pointed to a good family run hotel in a nice area of Corfu.
LOCATION
The hotel is situated on the outskirts of RODA which itself is about an hour and a half from Corfu Town and the airport.
The hotel itself is literally a small stones throw from the beach. Alas that's a pebble beach but its still right on the sea. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the location. There's about a 10 mile stretch of water between Corfu and the mountains of Albania. Stick all of this together and you have nothing short of a fantastic location.
THE HOTEL
The hotel is divided up in to...

is roda for you?
Advantages: plenty of places to eat out
Disadvantages: packed shingly beach
...july 2005 i went to roda and the first two days i spent was on a packed beach, not what i liked when i want privacy without some other breathing down your neck when your trying to tan, that was untill i spoke to one of the locals who guided me to another section of the beach around the rock face a much quieter part less shingle and all the sun you want,
to the far left of the main beach go over the bridge where you will find wild terripins and turtles swimming and up the little road till you see the horse riding school, cut through the riding school and there is a little path which takes you to this beach, there is a nice little british and greek bar which also provides sun loungers for those people who dont like to get sand in there lotions
there wasnt much to do in roda that i found apart from horse riding a little shopping but...

Roda, not a bustling town
Advantages: Small,Village type, local holiday
Disadvantages: Poor shopping, gets quite crowded, bit behind the times
...When i go on holiday the first thing i am most definately going to do is search out the positives. When one talks about spending the amount of money that holiday costs incur, whats the point in searching out the negatives...forget them its your holiday that is going to be ruined.
There were loads of positives with Roda, but it did appear to be different to the type of holidays i was used to in Tenerife.
Me and the missus stayed at the Roda studios that are virtually on the beach. These were all self catering and clean and modern. Nice bedroom and seperate sitting area so was like home from home where the accomodation was concerned. First thing in the morning to sit on the balcony and watch the sun rise was fantastic.
We used to fill our days up by spending time on the beach and in the sea. The beach is shingle and does tend to...

Kalami- Corfu
Advantages: Amazing, relazing, beautiful.
Disadvantages: Some parts are very chavvy and "english"
...I have been to Corfu twice, and have stayed in Kalami on the two occasions I visited with family.
My mum had always wanteds to go to Corfu after reading Gerald Durrells MY Family and Other Animals, which was set in the country of Corfu. But we had been told some bad things about the country, told that it was very "English-y" and not the nicest place to go. But when we looked into Drect Greece, we found this beautiful little town called Kalami, and when my mum found there was an apartement where Gerald Durrell had stayed when he was writing his book, she booked it straight away. And so off we went.
We flew from Manchester airport with MyTravel, the flight took around 3 hours and so we had a film on and got a meal on the flight so the time went very quickly. Upon arriving in Corfu, the heat hit us as soon as we stepped off...

Kassiopi - The Loveliest Resort on Corfu!
Advantages: Great Beaches, Friendly People, Fabulous Climate
Disadvantages: Negligible...
...KASSIOPI, CORFU
I spent two weeks in Kassiopi, a little fishing village on the Ionian island of Corfu, in September of this year. And quite frankly, it is such a stunningly gorgeous place that I almost have reservations about promoting it in any way whatsoever ?alas, my altruism got the better of me, so here goes!
WHY KASSIOPI? Having decided on a holiday in Greece, my husband and I considered renting a villa on Corfu, together with our 2 year-old son & my in-laws. Characteristically enough, we ended up leaving things to the very last minute, but when it came to booking it really was a case of last come, best served! The company we used, Meon, had one last, lonely Villa left languishing on its books in all of Corfu for the dates we wanted to travel. This was Villa Apanemia, in Kassiopi, and so Apanemia it was. I'd never even...

Dassia, Corfu
Advantages: Nice Quiet Resort, Very Friendly Locals
Disadvantages: Not much in the way of Kids Attractions.
...The Resort
Dassia is located at the Northern end of the Greek Island of Corfu. The resort is about 1 mile long, through which travels a very busy main road. All the bars, tavernas, restaurants and shops etc are fronting this main road, most of them being located to the right hand side of the road, heading north.
Most of the accommodation is self catering studios and apartments, most of which have a pool, very few have a bar and reception.
There are three big hotels: The Corfu Chandris, The Dassia Chandis and the Magna Grecia.
The Beach
To the left hand side of the road, heading north you will find several dirt tracks, these all lead down to the beach. These dirt tracks are very hard to travel when you are attempting to push a pram, so I presume the same would apply for those accompanying wheelchair users and those who...

FROLICS ON CORFU
Advantages: see opinion
Disadvantages: see opinion
...I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep this op on the subject of the island of Corfu, mainly because of the goings on in our holiday accommodation, but I'll try. If you've picked this up from my account list of opinions, then I apologise for having turned it into a mini "Wish You Were Here", but I'm having really excellent fun in digging out the photo albums to rekindle some of the memories.
We spent two weeks on a Mark Warner holiday at the Club Barbati. My husband had a habit of winning the work competitions where the prizes were holidays, so the operators had already been chosen for us, otherwise I'm not sure I'd have booked with them. Not because I think there's anything wrong with them, but they are watersports specialists and I'm one of the world's greatest armchair spectators. Still, we weren't tied to the club, we were free to...

Corfu Brilliant
Advantages: Warm to Hot Great People Beautiful place
Disadvantages: none that i could find
...Ah Corfu, I love the place, but then i must do i got married there! You can not beat Greece for the welcoming locals can you.
We've been many times and have seen some of the small places change of over the years. We first went to Sidari in 2003, then it was much quiter than it is now. You had a good mix of ages and the most perfect beach, unless you were by canal d'amour. It is a good base to travel out from. We liked it so much we went back there in 2004 with my two lads, so they could help us celebrate out marriage in Corfu Town Hall. It was a wonderful day and the locals treated us like we were king and queen, fabulous memories.
We then returned in 2006 for a weeks break and stayed in Roda, which is much quieter, but none the less great for the week, again the locals were very welcoming and helpful. We travelled up to...

The island of Corfu
Advantages: Nice island
Disadvantages: not in Swptember
...I visited the little Island of Corfu in September 1998 and was left with mixed feelings.
I have visited several Greek Islands and This ranks lowest on my list.
I stayed in the resort village of Kassiopi which is about an hour on a coach from the Airport at Corfu Town.
Its a coastal fishing village by trade and sits near the north East Tip of the Island.
You can see Albania just across the water only 6 miles away.
To the North Coast are the quiet beach resorts of Sidari and Roda.
This is for the easy going beach holiday types that want nothing more than to Lie on a beach all week.
If you expect anything else you will be dissapointed as there is very little else.
If its fun and excitement you want, You need to be in the south part of the Island.
The party capital of the island is Kavos.
Kavos holds all of the bars...
