Experience with Roland EP-77
Advantages: modifiability, portable
Disadvantages: need of electricity
...I have been playing the piano for several years, each week going to a class, hard training all the time, concerts, and once, I got for Christmas this new invention.
--- Advantages ---
I didn't know at all what to expect. Before, I occasionally played for fun on keyboard. So I thought that it is comparable to such quality = not having a real size of a usual wooden piano. The other thing is that the number of keys, the low bass and high tones are usually missing on such a digital piano. But as I saw it then packed out, I starred on it with an open mouth because the keys had the usual size of a USUAL piano. What I really started to like on Roland EP-77 it was the fact that it is portable. - Several times it happened to me that I couldn't play the big piano at certain occasions because I cannot just put this instrument into my pocket...

The impossible Cube
Advantages: Mental Challenge
Disadvantages: Impossible!!!
...The Rubik's cube was invented in the 1980's by Erno Rubik who used to teach in a school at Budapest. He invented this cube to help students learn about geometry but he then decided to sell this cube as a brain challenging toy. As soon as this toy came out thousands of people went to buy in what is now called the Rubik craze. Nearly thirty years on this toy is still a huge success.
The object is actually quite simple. You have a cube with 6 faces divided into nine segments. Each of the nine segments is in one of six colours. Now all you need to do is make all six faces the same colour and you have solved the Rubik's cube. The only problem of course is that it is a teensy bit harder than it sounds. Personally I struggle to do 1 colour and don't know anyone who has done more than two sides at any one time.
So you might ask is there any...

Roland GR-20 Guitar Synthesizer
Advantages: Some very realistic synthetic sounds at an affordable price.
Disadvantages: Requires a lot of fine tuning.
...Background:
I bought this pedal in Japan for £290. The Roland GR-20 is renowned for it's value for money. For this price you get:
The GR-20 Synthesizer
GK-3 Dedicated Pickup + Cable (to connect the GK-3 to GR-20)
Power Supply Unit
Short Guitar Lead
Instruction Manuals
Warranty
Screws, tapes etc... to attach GK-3 to your guitar
The pedal is very versatile and also comes with an in-built tuner.
Installation:
The GK-3 needs to be installed on your guitar before you can use the pedal. Ideally the GK-3 should be around 1mm away from your strings and should not be installed further than 1cm away from the bridge.
The GK-3 has two main parts. The main body, which has the up/down buttons (to scroll through the patches) and a volume knob, and the pickup itself.
The pickup can either be installed using screws...

No you're a Cube
Advantages: Great characters
Disadvantages: Not for all
...The Science Fiction/Horror combo is one of my favourite genres of film, I just can't get enough of the Alien series and others like Sphere etc. So I just had to see Cube.
The film starts with a guy inside a square room on his own he moves to a small square doors in the middle of one of the walls and passes into the next room which is identical but for the colour. Nothing strange yet, but then there is a quick swishing noise and the man freezes. A trickle of blood is soon followed by many more as lines appear all over his body were he has been quickly sliced by a wire mesh. His body then falls apart gruesomely onto the floor.
The film then starts with several characters in meeting in a cube room. We have Quentin who asserts himself as group leader. Holloway, a doctor in her 50s. Leaven, a young, booky, teenage girl who has...

OXO cubes Beef
Advantages: Makes a good rich gravy
Disadvantages: none
...I must be one of OXO`s biggest fans, those crumbly little meat extract cubes are very versatile.
The bright red square packet that sits alongside the gravy and sauce granules often gets walked by, classed as insignificant and old-fashioned.
It maybe marked OXO in bold lettering, but gravy granules are a quicker more simple solution, often the route chosen by many today.
The first OXO cube made its debut in 1910 immediately becoming a firm family favourite.
Its predecessor the liquid beef extract had been more expensive to buy,so the cube sales literally took off.
Between 1983 and 1999 the OXO television adverts were centred around the OXO family..quite interesting because Michael Redfern the actor who played the part of the OXO Dad says that OXO typecast him and his career was ruined because of it.
The OXO Mum was Lynda Bellingham...

Great Activity Cube
Advantages: lots to learn
Disadvantages: none
...Galt Activity Cube
This was one of the first toys I bought for Jack when he was really too small to play with it. The fact was it was cheap but looked good. Since he has had it a while I thought it about time I did a review of it also I liked the toy so much I bought two for Christmas, one each for one of my friends babies.
I bought the activity cube from Amazon for £5.99 pence and of course had to pay a small fee for post and packaging. I have not seen this particular activity cube for sale anywhere else although these are so many products that are similar out on the market.
The cube arrived with a few days and on opening the posting box it came in the cube was held in a handled plastic container. Although this kept it nice and snug it was really of no use so this was thrown away. Of course just like any cube...

ROLAND FR-3S PIANO ACCORDION
Advantages: TOO MANY TO LIST!!!
Disadvantages: BELLOWS CAN BE A BIT STIFF WHEN NEW.
...The Roland fr-3s is the little brother to the fr-7 V-accordion, yet it is no small fry having a full 120 bass section, with seven registers and keyboard of 37 treble keys with ten registers and a dazzling array of features and sounds, it is lightweight and fully portable due to the built-in speakers and battery option. (It takes ten AA size battery's if you would want to use this function, and lasts up to two and a half hours depending on the batteries used.) Although I do generally plug mine into the mains.
The electronic wizardry in this instrument means you can select from ten different accordion types, each with its own associated registers and to the ear is indistinguishable from its acoustic cousins, and as if that was not enough, it boasts several orchestral sounds including violin, steel guitar and choir. The fr-3s also has...

Roland Drums... my pride and joy!
Advantages: Great authentic sounds, feels like playing real drums
Disadvantages: knowing that if you had £5000 you could get a much better one
...I brought my Roland V Drums about a year and a half ago. I love them to bits.
At the time, i couldnt afford them at all. However I played on a kit in a music shop and fell in love with them. I immediately promised myself to get a job and save up to get one. So, eventually I did.
I still struggle now to understand the technology. You're hitting rubber and plastic pads, and real drum sounds come out... its increadible.
Although the TD8 is not the most advanced kit in the series, it still does SO much. It registers how hard you hit the drums, where you hit the drums and they are really responsive.
One of the major benefits of this piece of equipment is that you can play music into it to play along to. This can be very useful for practicing and picking up new things while listening to your favourite tunes!
Also, its a great...

Roland EG-101
Advantages: Quality, sounds, grooveability
Disadvantages: Lacklustre preset patterns, clumsy OS
...I am into making dance music, and I previously had a Yamaha DJX. I would say the EG-101 is pretty similar in its features, but it isn't as immediately accessible, then again it is a much higher quality product.
This is a nice looking keyboard. It has a vintage look, analogue style knobs and some nice backlit buttons. There is only a tiny LED display, however - adequate, just.
The keyboard has 448 voices, some of which are just percussion sounds and not much use, but there are some seriously usable sounds here. The quality of sound production is truly excellent. The onboard speakers are also remarkably powerful.
Roland's way of selecting sounds, voices etc. isn't intuitive or obvious. You have to work at it! This isn't a toy by any means, but I know they could have made the thing easier to use.
There is an arpeggiator, which I...

Who Says Cube Fell Off?
Advantages: Consistent quality
Disadvantages: One weak track
..."Raw Footage" is the eighth solo album from one of the founding members of N.W.A, Ice Cube. Cube came into the game in the late eighties as part of the rise of Gangsta Rap movement, which was spawned from the exposure of Hip Hop over in LA, and since they had to relate it to their street life, the gangsta lifestyle became part of their music. With Ice-T, MC Ren and Dr. Dre, they managed to get this unique sound of the West Coast up, and it is now the main style used by Hip Hop acts of today.
Since its peak in the mid-ninties, the West Coast scene has died down, so it could have been difficult for Cube to come up with something for the listeners of now. Despite the fact that he has made acting his main career path, he has continued to bring out new releases, but the last one, "Laugh Now, Cry Later" (which came out in 2006) sounded as...
