Review of Rome: Total War by
rfwebster
Advantages: a great game, with epic 3d, realtime battles
Disadvantages: onlyt if you dont buy it
...Rome Total War takes you back to a time, where romans ruled europe, where barbarians romed the land and where the power of a man was measured by the strength of his armies.
You start off as a faction of Rome, (Julius, Brutii or Scipii) with a little land, sworn to protect Rome, SPQR. As your armies grow you can expand your lands by capturing regions, bribing cities or defeating other factions. Biuld Roads between cities to increase trade or build a temple to the God Jupiter to increase a cities loyalty to You.
Conquer new Lands and eventually Rome in epic, real time battles with all your little soildiers, you are their leader, their general. They do as you wish.
As you conquer new factions you can play as those factions. The Egyptions, Greeks, Gauls, carthagians and many more, each with their own battle units. Elephants Chariots...

Rome Total War
Review of Rome: Total War by
FGT123
Advantages: Enjoyable campaigns and battles
Disadvantages: the backing music
...A game that very enjoyable, if not addictive! Rome Total provides you with a long time of entertainment. It has a different levels of artificial intelligence which at the hardest level provides, what I found, near impossible gameplay. Even at the easiest level the game is still relatively hard and requires a definite game plan. The graphics are very good and in my opinion provides a nice backdrop to all your battles. On the downside some of the "large stone walls" you can put around your settlement sometimes are slightly awkward when fighting battles. Generally, the sound is not to my taste and the campaign maps music is slightly irritating. The best thing about this game is that you can actually fight the battles as well as trying to capture settlements which is not always available in other games. In conclusion, a game that is well...

very impressive
Review of Rome: Total War by
simmy.uk
Advantages: superb graphics, gameplay and sound, alot of replay value
Disadvantages: high spec pc needed, issues around online play, very addictive
...Rome Total War is the latest game from the groundbreaking Total War series by the Creative Assembly. The game is set in ancient times of Romans, Barbarians and Eastern Emperors.
Like all the games in the total war series, gameplay is split between empire management and actual fighting on the field of battle. Troops must be effectively trained and armed to be effective in on the front lines. Buildings such as armouries or blacksmiths may be constructed to give troops better weopons whilst other buildings are required for the use of the general population. For example in order for your empire's population to grow you will need to supply them with resources of food and water. Knowing which buildings to construct is vital. A city may revolt and you, as leader of your state, will need to find out why and build the appropriate building...

Ab imo pectore (from the heart)
Review of Rome: Total War by
migitaldave
Advantages: Best and most accurate historical war game i have ever played
Disadvantages: Also the most addictive game i have ever played
...If you were to ask me - "what is the best PC game you have ever played?" i would say Rome Total War without hesitation. It is the only PC game that i have ever really been amazingly addicted to.
The best features are:
The reality of controlling the world
The reality of the Battles
The freedom of the game
For Roman enthusiasts also this game has another level...historical battles..the ability to re-enact famous historical battles in order to fulfill your "what if" craving!
And even an arcade style battle mode for those who are just looking for a quick battle.
WORD OF WARNING: THIS GAME IS HIGHLY, HIGHLY ADDICTIVE...RECOMMENDED PLAY TIME, HOLIDAYS AND FOR SINGLES!!
My rating 10/10 - - - who can disagree??...

Medieval II but is it an improvment
Review of Medieval 2 - Total War (PC) by
S3Matt
Advantages: Graphics much improved, Sieges always fun
Disadvantages: Few niggles in game play, to Similar to previous titles
...Medieval II Total was is the second incarnation of the Total war series based in medieval times, also included in the series of Total war are shogun, and Rome.
So this newest Release is it an improvement on Rome total war or the original Medieval, or just more of the same?
The Game:
For those who know of Total war its much the same as the previous titles in the way that it plays in both the Campaign map and also into the battles, Management of the Cities is also much the same but a Family member is required to financially control the City/Fort. Units are Recognizable from the old games with a few changes here and there.
For those Not familiar You take control of one of the Empires in the Middle ages (i go for England obviously) and then build you empire by conquering neighboring cities and the land they control from rebels or other...

Strength and Honour
Review of Rome: Total War by
pdoyle007
Advantages: Totally addictive, builds on previous successes
Disadvantages: Goodbye social life
...I first began playing this series of war based strategy games when I moved in with my housemate nearly a year ago. I had been a fan of 'Dune2' and 'Command and Conquer' but these took it to a whole new level.
Shogan Total War (based in Japan) was the first and set the scene. I joined soon after Medevil Total War was released and was hooked. Rome Total War is the newest (and best) of the series to come along.
The basic premise with all of these games is that you are the Commander-In-Chief of a faction set in one of the time periods. You have control over all of the internal and foreign dealings, from changing taxes, to upgrading buildings, to fighting wars, everything is in your hands. The main map screen shows you the game overview and it's huge (Rome has over 200 colonies for you to interact with) this is where you see you settlements...

Rome
Review of Rome: Total War by
Weebeanman
Advantages: Great Stratagy
Disadvantages: Take a good computer to run it on.
...clash in vast battles to conquer provinces and cities.
Because Rome is almost a year old know you could probably pick it up for around £20 to £25 pounds. Overall this is one of my favourite games and if you are into strategy then I truly recommend that you buy this game. You can play on it for ever and once you've mastered easy mode you can move to new levels of game play involving even more strategic thinking....

Very good game, few drawbacks.
Review of Rome: Total War by
Rich-the-Great
Advantages: Challenging, good graphics.
Disadvantages: Time-consuming, sometimes uninventive.
...When first inserting the Rome CD-ROM into my computer, there I was happily anticipating a near carbon copy of Medieval: Total War, but with elephants rather than knights, and phalanxes and hoplites rather than men-at-arms, and with a few graphics updated. How wrong I was.
Rome goes much further in improving gameplay and creating a more realistic game (but not too realistic) than any other real time strategy around at the moment. The basis of managing your settlements, and leading your troops in battle is a time-honoured total war premise, yet still shows no sign of becoming old. However, what makes this game good is that the intention of the game, is to challenge the player: no faction you play is isolated and no battle is decided before you fight. There are no short-cuts to success in this game.
Although, to complete the game...

Business Class suprisingly good
Review of Alitalia - AZA by
vinodgm
Advantages: Business Class seats and inflight service.
Disadvantages: Transit at Rome and punctuality
...Alitalia's Business Class is suprisingly good.
I recently flew from Accra in Ghana to Bombay (India)with them and their flight was in two sectors. First was the Accra to Rome sector and next was the Rome to Bombay (Mumbai) sector.
On both these sectors they are still using First Class seats in Business Class on the MD-11 aircraft.
Basically the seats have not yet been converted into the actual Business Class seats yet as they are older aircrafts.
The seats are in Grey colour leather. You can stretch your legs totally and not reach the seat in front of you. The inflight service and cuisine is not bad either.
But the most important is the comfort due to the seats.
The stopover in Rome is not that good however. Our flight arrived at 6.00 am in the morning in Rome and the Business Class Lounge did'nt open until 7.00am, so we had to just hang...
