When In Rome... Visit the Colosseum.
Advantages: An unusual and dramatic experience..
Disadvantages: If you have to queue in the sun.
...Visiting the Colosseum in Rome is an experience you will not forget. I did not know what to expect when I went there.Everyone has seen photographs of the outside of the Colosseum and the inside as it once was has been reconstructed in many film sets. What did I really expect to see; I do not know but I suppose that I thought I would be disappointed at how little of it was intact or looked authentic. this was not the case though.
From the outside the Colosseum Rome is a strange building, when you try to take photographs of it you seem to notice how some pieces of its structure look at odd angles to other parts of it. There are usually long queues of tourists waiting to get into the Colosseum. Outside there are 'Romans' dressed up as ancient Romans and they are there to make money from tourists who pay them to have their photograph...

Play and Charge now!
Advantages: Play for hours on end and just plug in and charge - good price
Disadvantages: none
...After owning my xbox 360 for a while and playing quite a lot (probably too long) I was getting rather fed up with having to constantly change batteries in my controller as it kept running out of battery. This not only meant I had to go and find some new batteries - and in some instances even meant going to the shop to buy some new ones, but it also messed up whatever I was playing particularly in online play as I would just lose and not be able to play. Normal batteries were beginning to rely annoy me so I decided to purchase a play and charge kit!
The xbox controller - being wireless eats up batteries like nothing and this kit is intended to be a simple solution to all those AA batteries.
What is it:
In this play and charge kit you get a battery pack and a USB charger wire. The battery pack is designed to fit perfectly into...

Rome rocked
Advantages: Excellent strategy game
Disadvantages: Not for those without time on their hands.
...This is the game who's engine was used recently on one of the bbc's programs, it featured historical battles being fought by teams of people, and the public wanted to try it themselves. Thus, Rome:Total War was born and many people, including me, were and are hooked onto it.
As i hurried home with the game in my hand, and a few points on my game card, i couldnt wait to play it. The cellophane was ripped off, and the cd placed in the drive, i couldnt contain my excitement. The installation was relatively simple, no hiccups, just changing cd's every now and again. And then suddenly, the question was popped " Would you like to run Rome:Total War now". I ticked the box, and pressed ok, the red loading screen opened up before me. The small red bar at the bottom of the screen filled up and i had started my journey into the past.
The list...

When In Rome...
Advantages: Great Location, Great Room, Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: Lack of Wardrobe Space
...quite hard, but not too hard.
There is a minibar in the fridge and there is a charge for any you drink, we didn't bother and used it to store some alcoholic drinks we bought (beer is expensive in Rome).
One of the most important features of the room is the air conditioning, the unit was by the window in our room and is on even when you are out of the room if you wish, which is great when you get back after a hard day sight seeing and feeling really muggy. It can even feel too cold.
The bathroom is a reasonable size, the shower itself is excellent, I wish we had one at home, it's a power shower and has small jets all down your body that you can turn on if you wish, and you'll certainly come out feeling very refreshed.
Despite being by a reasonably busy road the windows block on almost all of the noise, it must be triple glazed...

Go for a Blue Charge
Advantages: Cheap and tasty
Disadvantages: None
...Asda Blue Charge - 1 litre bottle
This is a high impact stimulation drink, which contains taurine and it is carbonated fruit flavoured with added caffeine and vitamins. It is basically a supermarket version of the well known Redbull. It is in my opinion a very tasty drink. Normally and preferred on its own but I have tried it with vodka which makes the vodka easier to drink but does make you get drunk quicker. I find this drink's texture like any other fizzy drink but a little bit thicker and not as tinkerly when going down the throat. I could not say what flavour I am tasting but when I saw that it contains apple flavouring, then I realise it does have a hint of it.
The 1 litre costed 89p (13/01/2009) from Adsa obviously. But I got the special offer, which was buy 3 for £2.50. Saved 17p only but its still a saving as I am going...

Ciao Bella! - The Best of Rome
Advantages: A lifetime of sights to see, excellent transport, amazing ice cream
Disadvantages: Very busy
...I visited here with two student friends in 2003, on a mission to soak up a lot of culture, have a great time and not spend much money, and we did pretty well on all counts. After sitting through years of torturous Latin lessons at school, I had high hopes for the city. We managed to find possibly the strangest hotel in Rome to stay in, the Hotel Giarda, near Stazione Termini, where they monitored our every movements through strategically placed security cameras, and the chamber maids had a good daily rifle through our luggage, but other than that it was well situated for exploring.
Here are my top Roma sights (in no particular order):
Vatican City: Even though this is slap bang in the middle of Rome, the Vatican is technically an independent state, with the Pope as sovereign, its own post office and legal system, and definitely...

Best Location In Rome
Advantages: Location, space, staff are friendly, air con
Disadvantages: None
....
The Emmaus hotel (three star), centrally located, with plenty of amenities on its door step, spacious rooms and friendly, helpful staff, makes a fantastic hotel. Whether a short break in Rome or a few weeks holiday, Emmaus has so many advantages that it makes any length of stay a stress free and pleasant visit.
It's located on Via delle Fornaci (25), which is practically in the Pope's lap. To get to it you can take the Via Di Ciampino road, turning right onto Via Appia Nuova for 8km and then you'll find yourself in the city. Just follow the signs to the centre and head north . Emmaus is minutes away from the Vatican (one hundred yards to be exact), so once you see that then you're almost there.
Or you could take the train from Ciampino airport (Ciampino FS) to Stazione Termini. The fare is ?2 and you'll be able to buy your...

When in Rome...
Advantages: Fantastic for quality service, price, and location
Disadvantages: You'll want to stay longer and you'll want to go back!
...polite and friendly, and so very helpful. I know for sure that the next time I am back in Rome, I will definitely stay here, as it was just so peaceful and so Roman, and it really made my stay feel authentic, and completely un-touristish!!!
For more information on Hotel King, go to: www.hotelkingroma.com
They have 72 rooms, single, double and one night for 2 people sharing a double room in October will cost around £140.00. If you're looking at, for example, July next year, the charge would be about £100.oo for the same 2 people, in the same double room for one night. The time of year will greatly dictate what you pay, as these things do tend to be seasonal, but whatever time you go, it's a great destination, with so much to do you'll never pack it all in and will be destined, as I am, to return again, and again, and again!

Hotel Villa Patrizi, Rome
Advantages: Good location, good value for money, polite staff
Disadvantages: Small rooms
...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Why we chose the hotel
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My boyfriend and I decided to take a weekend city break in Rome, we were joined by his parents who travelled seperately. We looked on Expedia for a good deal and we found one with reasonable BA flights and 3 nights stay at Hotel Villa Patrizi. We looked at the information and pictures of the hotel on the internet and it looked good so we decided to book it. Now we have been to the hotel, and looking back at the pictures, they are true to life and do not decieve you in anyway that the hotel looks different to what it does.
Highlight of Rome
Advantages: Bags of history, fantastic tour guides, beautiful views
Disadvantages: None noticable
...The immensity of these historical remains took my breath away before I had even begun to learn about the depth and horror of its history. Those of you who have seen Gladiator or studied Ancient Rome in history lessons may be aware of the basic features and uses of the Colosseum in its days of glory but the amount of information given during the tour intrigued and enlightened me to the full extent of its history.
Getting to the Colosseum could not be easier. It is situated in the centre of Rome quite literally with main roads running meters away from its ancient structure. The Metro station is situated within meters of the entrance with a zebra crossing leading across the road to the cobbled pathway that ran around the Colosseum. However if you do chose to take the metro be careful when traveling to keep any belongings in front of you...
