...Well, what a place. I've been there three times now for at least 3 weeks each time and I'm planning to go back again. I'm not the sort of tourist you might associate with Pattaya - in other words, I'm not a 70 year old man wearing socks and sandals, travelling to Thailand for nothing but sex. Its a great value holiday destination and fun for all the family. Why fork out such ridiculous sums of money on Spanish package holidays and then be ripped off even more when you get there with food and drink when Thailand (and Pattaya in particular) is cheap to get to and very cheap to live in. Driving time, Pattaya is approximately 2 hours from Bangkok and the cost of a taxi varies, though you'll have no problem picking one up for 800THB (about £12.00). Pattaya - not meeting our expectations

Advantages: The fast pace, shopping, abundance of activities available, ability to book day-trips
Disadvantages: Sex trade, smell, polluted waters, dirty beach, not safe to go into town alone

...Pattaya is situated on the eastern gulf of Thailand and is roughly a 2 hour drive from the airports in Bangkok. When my boyfriend and I booked to spend a two week holiday in Pattaya we were expecting the palm swept beaches and turcqoise waters of Alex Garland's novel 'The Beach' but were dissapointed to find something quite different. Dear Room

Advantages: honest and thought provoking.
Disadvantages: some work maybe seen as to short.

...about forgeting and things moving on, it covers the changing face of a house he used to wait ouside day after day. Secondly is the title poem 'Dear Room' as you may expect this is the longest in the book covering three pages, this covers the story of the goings on of a room over the years and its first use as a childs play area for games to be played everyday to it gathering dust in lated life and becoming used less and less. Third is 'Helter-Skelter' this doesnt really need any explaination! It is a lighthearted story of a helter skelter through the eyes of the Author when he was a child. ...It's not often that I am overly impressed by the new bars that open in Sheffield. They come and go frequently and often change names overnight. The Common Room is however one such place that I did walk into and say "wow!" because its discreet entrance offers no hint of what is to be found inside. Located on Devonshire Street next to The Forum shopping complex this is a place that lies right in the heart of the city centre's student quarter. Advantages: Great rhyming text and brilliantly illustrated!
Disadvantages: Some children may be a little scared of the beast that emerges from the ditch!

One of my favourite hotels in Pattaya

Advantages: Palm trees, close to the beach and comfortable
Disadvantages: Can be a bit busy

...This is one of those hotels where, the longer you stay, the longer you want to stay. I stayed here in May 05. The pool and facilities are second to none and you meet a wide variety of people. It is worth getting up a bit early to grab a sun lounger but you will find yourself in the pool more than on it. The food was gorgeous and room service is extremly quick. It is in an ideal location (close enough to walking street but far enough from it if you wish to avoid it), there is a shopping centre less than three minutes away with everything you need and great bargains. It will take you about 2 minutes to get to the beach and to other restaurants. There is a great restaurant across the street which hosts live traditional thai dancing!
