Santa Rosa - the perfect place to relax

Advantages: Warm, sunny, no insects, great local restaurants
Disadvantages: hotel food - apparently

...Review of Hotel Santa Rosa, Costa Teguise The country - and the weather!! Firstly, to set the scene i'll give a short introduction to the country, and of course, more importantly, the weather!.....Lanzarote is one of the hugely popular canary islands, and one of my favourite holiday destinations. Although part of Spain, Lanzarote sits close to the North of Africa and because of this, benefits from the heat of the mainland. Having said that, since its a fairly small island, theres quite often a fair breeze flowing through the country, but dont let that put you off, its a welcome breeze in the summer heat and means that the island has very few annoying insects which is a definite plus! All this together means Lanzarote enjoys a favourable climate all year round, with summer temperatures not too hot, and mild winters. In...

Valle dei templi

Advantages: beautiful experience, beautiful temples
Disadvantages: the temples are surrounded by hugly houses wich ruin the beauty of the landscape

...Valle dei templi is a must if you go and visit Sicily, it is fanstastic experience and seems you are back in the past in the Greek times. The best time to go is Spring. I would avoid the summer because it could be too hot . you pay a small fee to enter into the temple and the visit can last about 2 hours. To bad you can\"t go inside the temple of Giunone but it worth to go there anyway. during the night the temples are illuminated and it looks like a great show. You could visit the valley but not necesserely spend the night into the city of Agrigento because the seeside and the small seavillages around are much better then the citycenter....

A mad love album by Robi rosa.

Advantages: Greats to listen to when in a romantic moods!
Disadvantages: Don't listens to it if you just been dump!

...Robi Rosa, Robi Rosa. Now that name does sound familer. Ah yes! He the guy behind the massive hits of 1999 with some latin guy name Ricky Martin and 'livin la vida loca'. Wheather or not if you are a fan of the 'loca' crazy of 1999 you cannot escape and help notice the pure talents behind that song. And yes Robi Rosa was the guy! He now quit writing with his old mate to record for his own albums. Mad love i believes to be 3 years in the making and this is a pure albums of love ballard and heartfelt rock songs written from the heart. This album is dedicated to his wife 'Angela'. The First track of the albums is 'dancing in the rains'. Now i leave it to your imagination to where he going with this song but It a smooth jazzy songs that you would put on after you puts the kids to bed. The emotions and feeling he puts in this songs can...

A Rose by Any Other Name

Advantages: Scent, flowers, foliage, prickly.
Disadvantages: Prickly!

...You may think of single red ones. You will certainly think of large-flowered, carefully manicured ones. You will probably think of powerfully scented, old fashioned rambling ones. And rightly so, for these cultivated roses well deserve their prime spot in our gardens. But this is a big family, and I would like to draw your attention to some which rarely make the limelight. The breakdown of this category inspired me to this. The Hybrid Teas are listed, along with Floribundas, Patio Roses, etc. Then there’s this topic – Rosa. Being the botanical name, all varieties really fall under this heading. So I reckon, in these circumstances, for “Rosa”, read “The Rest”. ROSA RUGOSA Sometimes known as the Ramanas Rose, Rosa rugosa is widely planted as hedging. It can grow up to 1.5 or 2m high...

Rosa gallica officinalis

Advantages: an enjoyable historical mystery
Disadvantages: makes you want to read the sequels

...Believed to have been brought to this country by Knights returning from the Crusades, Rosa gallica officinalis is more commonly known as the Apothecary Rose. Growing wild in central Asia it was first cultivated by the ancient Persians and Egyptians, and later by the Greeks and the Romans who acknowledged its medicinal properties. ~~0~~0~~ ~~0~~0~~ The species name officinalis was adopted in the eighteenth century 'after' Linnaeus, and refers to this medicinal use and derived from the Latin word opificina (herb store or pharmacy). This red rose has many uses in the home, in medicine and cosmetics. The dried petals retain their scent in pot pourri. When freshly harvested rose petals are crushed they produce a mere litre of oil per 5,000 kg of petals. This oil is used in many perfumes including Chanel No 5. Aromatherapists use...

I was talking to preachy preach about kissy kiss

Advantages: Best album by a brilliant band
Disadvantages: One or two vocal growls and barks too many

...Album: Surfer Rosa Artist: The Pixies Released: 1988 Producer: Steve Albini Label: 4AD Vocals/Guitar ? Black Francis Guitar ? Joey Santiago Bass/Vocals ? Kim Deal (credited here as Mrs John Murphy) Drums ? Dave Lovering TITLE OF REVIEW: I Was Talking To Preachy Preach About Kissy Kiss As part of my punk trilogy of music reviews, I decided I would write about at least one American punk band. It just so happened that the album I settled on ? Surfer Rosa ? influenced more 90s alternative rock bands than any other American indie/punk release I can think of. The Pixies are often described as an indie rock outfit, and I?ve seen some reviewers describe them as indie pop. However anyone who was had even a cursory listen to ?Come on Pilgrim? (1987) and especially ?Surfer Rosa? (1988), would have a different...

ROOM IN THE INN IN RIMINI

Advantages: GREAT LOCATION NEAR THE BEACH
Disadvantages: RIMINI

...Rimini is not my idea of a perfect destination in Italy, but it's close to San Marino, which isn't a perfect destination in Italy either when you come to think of it. Anyway, Rimini worked out fine for us last year as we wanted to visit San Marino and the choice of hotels was so much better. That's why we went there - now for where we went there. We opted for the Ramada Villa Rosa, mainly for the location it has to be said, but also because it looked a half decent hotel at a half decent price (80 euros). The location couldn't be any better. It's 5 minutes from the historic town centre, sits right on the main drag just across the road from the beach and surrounded by bars and restaurants. We weren't really there for the beach, the historic town centre wasn't up to much but the bars and restaurants held a little more appeal...

TWO VENTI LATTES FOR DOOGEL PLEASE

Advantages: The variety and range of blends
Disadvantages: The price

...were grabbing a take away latte for a car trip- l was patiently waiting on my two-venti lattes – one skinny one regular – to appear. When they did the guy lifted one by the plastic cap, which was not correctly secured, and whoosh l was coffee/foam covered. Now accidents can happen – but the guy sort of pushed some paper towels at me and scurried away – l wasn’t burnt but my new sweater was covered in coffee – there was no real apology, offer of free coffee or rush to write the accident in the health and safety log. Now in America (specifically Boston, MA) – and this will explain the title – we noticed having visited a few different branches that the till operator would ask the customer their name. This was to identify you with your coffee – they wrote your name onto the take away...

Rome - The Eternal CIty

Advantages: Great Charcters
Disadvantages: None

...When I was in Asda with my mam a couple of weeks ago, I noticed they had lots of books on sale for £1. I immediately noticed this one as it had the Colosseum, Rome on the front. As Rome is one of my favourite cities I've been to, I decided to give it a try. The Author Domenica De Rosa was born in London in 1963 and wrote her first novel at 11 years old. She read English at King's College in London then went on to work in publishing. Her first book, The Italian Quarter, was published in 2004. She lives in Brighton with her husband and two children. The Plot "The De Angelis sisters - holier-than-thou Anna, beautiful Maria and tomboy Gaby - have always been competitive, never more so than for the affection of their father, Enzo" Sadly, on the day that Gaby's first baby is born, Enzo dies. The sisters start to...

Where is my mind... Away with the Pixies

Advantages: Two albums in one...
Disadvantages: n/a

...Once again, I can't believe that state this op was in, but it was one of my first. Anyways, how can I inspire a Pixies revival if I don't write a good op on their albums? Well, here comes the re-vamped version... Surfer Rosa... an influential piece made even better with the addition of Come on Pilgrim on the CD version sold over here in Britain. This was the first full-length album to be released by Frank and his motley crew, and is seen by many as the standard for modern alt rock/grunge that must be lived up to. Just ask people like Dave Grohl... (Ex-Nirvana drummer, Foo Fighter's frontman). If you want to know about the style of the music,- I'm not going into too much detail as I'll end up writing this so many times in subsequent updates and have done so already - it's a four piece guitar rock group, encorporating very early...
