My friend Rosemary

Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review

...I love growing and using herbs and one of my favourites is Rosemary. Rosemary is easy to grow, looks and smells wonderful and can be used in many ways. Growing Rosemary. ***************** How to grow Rosemary is the obvious place to start this review. The first thing to say is that Rosemary is really easy to grow and in my experience quite forgiving too! Having said that Rosemary is not easy to grow from seed. I recommend you buy your plant from a nursery. They are really cheap, usually about £1 each. April is the ideal month for planting outside although it is not to late now in early may. Rosemary originates from the Mediterranean and so not surprisingly likes to grow in a sunny spot. It also likes sandy soil although my plants grow very happily in clay soil. Planting is really easy; simply dig a hole about 3 inches deep...

Rosemary for Remembrance

Advantages: A wonderfully versitile herb which has many uses.
Disadvantages: Can take a little while to get established, likes good drainage and a sunny position.

...proven that the smell of Rosemary actually stimulate the memory! I use Rosemary in cooking all the time - mainly for meat dishes and especially for lamb. There is nothing better in the world in my opinion than a good, slow cooked lamb shank covered with rosemary and served with mashed potato, soft carrots and finely shredded cabbage, all covered over with rich brown gravy?mmmmm!!! I also use rosemary when I'm cooking potato wedges, as the flavour from the herb really permeates through the cooking potato resulting in a really flavoursome, crispy wedge! Rosemary is great for making your hair shiny - an infusion of rosemary poured over clean wet hair, or a few drops of essential oil smoothed over clean dry hair, will give auburn hair especially a deep well nourished shine. In the winter, when it's cold and we put a fire on to warm...

Rosemary And Me

Advantages: It does look quite pretty and you can eat it!
Disadvantages: Not totally hardy in cold areas and needs a bit of sand.

...in cloves of garlic; I also scatter six or eight sprigs of rosemary over it. It smells gorgeous when cooking and adds a wonderful, pungent, herby flavour. Mixed vegetables roasted in good olive oil is another staple dish around here and it benefits hugely from the same six to eight sprigs scattered over the top. Another favourite use of mine for rosemary is in root vegetable soup. It adds a wonderful, herby depth to a thick soup made from parsnips and swede. Just add it in as you cook the vegetables, but make sure that you retrieve the sprigs before you liquidise it! Dried, I tend to use rosemary together with other herbs ? sage, thyme, and bay ? as a kind of bouquet garni, mixed together in a muslin bag and popped in to whatever soup, casserole or stew I am making. My pal and fellow Ciao contributor, Malu, recently sent me some dried...

Rosemary - More than just a plant.

Advantages: easy to grow, tough, tasty, nice smell
Disadvantages: none.

...had a reputation from early times as aiding memory, and has many uses associated with this. Greek scholars wore garlands of Rosemary atop their heads to aid memory before exams, and also massaged the oils from the plant onto their temples. Because of its memory aiding properties, the herb was commonly used at funerals as a symbol that the dead would not be forgotten. Sprigs of the plant would be given to mourners to throw onto the coffin once it was lowered, a custom that is still practiced at some funerals today. Its memory boosting properties also lent it some weight in romantic circles, where it became associated with fidelity, and a sprig was often included in bridal bouquets , to signal that not only would the bride be faithful, but that she would remember her family ( in a time when many marriages were made to further...

In And Out Of The Garden With Rosemary.

Advantages: Very attractive. Very useful.
Disadvantages: Not happy in shade.

.... The tea recipe, when cool, makes a lovely final rinse for red or brown hair. Boiling the tea for half an hour before cooling and using is reputed to clear dandruff, but I haven't tried this myself. There are many bath oil recipes in cosmetic books. Only make these with untreated castor oil (ordered from a chemist). If you don't there'll be a nasty oil slick and a big ring round the bath. You'll probably slip over when you try to get out. Trust me. For gifts, dry lemon and orange peel, thyme and rosemary sprigs in a cool oven. Crumble into white muslin squares and tie with a long ribbon. These look really pretty. Hang under the running hot tap at bath time. Heaven! Fill fancy bottles with olive or sunflower oil and add a few stems of rosemary. Store in a warm place for a few weeks for a good flavoured cooking oil. This works with white wine...

Rosemary & Thyme mystery drama

Advantages: Great storylines, one part episodes, interesting.
Disadvantages: none

... TV Programme Only (I am not reviewing the DVD format) Rosemary and Thyme is a mystery drama which shows on ITV 1, currently at 4pm on weekdays (mon-fri). It is on for an hour, and each episode ends in the one hour (there are no 2 part episodes), and the story starts anew each day, meaning you don't have to watch it every day to know what is happening in the show, just tune in when you want to watch an episode and forget about it until you come across it again. The show is about two female gardeners, Rosemary and Laura, in each episode they are employed to do the garden of some stately home, park, school etc. But wherever they go, trouble seems to follow them and murder seems to follow in their path, everywhere they are working, there is a murder, and normally a serial murder, Rosemary and Laura get on the case trying to...

Review of Rosemary And Thyme (DVD)

Rosemary stood by my front door .

Advantages: great versatile herb
Disadvantages: none

.... Soon Rosemary will root and produce another scented plant. Rosemary can grow to about 5 foot tall. Just thought a wonderfull leaving present for someone who is leaving my work next week.Wouldn't have thought of it if I had not been writing this opp Rosemary for rememberance So she will remember me when she smells it. Rosemary is rich in volatile oil, flavenoids and phenolicacids, which are antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. Large doses for pregnant women are not to be recommended can cause abortion. An infusion of rosemary (rosemary boiled in water) used to rinse your hair makes your hair shiny (so I have read). Rosemary added to the bath is stimulating. The smell in the bathroom after would be lovely too. I like the smell of rosemary thrown on to the barbeque. Rosemary can be added to pot pourri?s to scent your...

Rosemary - The Versatile Herb In My Garden!

Advantages: Lovely Aroma, Many Uses
Disadvantages: Grows Quickly And can Soon Take Over A Garden

...done by removing the young shoots that appear in early Spring and placing these in Compost. These shoots will take root easily but should be kept indoors or inside a Greenhouse until the following Spring when they can be transplanted out into the Garden. Rosemary, like most Herbs has many medicinal uses and it is also the subject of many myths and folklores. Rosemary Tea is said to be a cure for stress and Headache, whilst the Oil is said that to prevent premature baldness. It is claimed that rubbing this Oil onto a balding head helps to stimulate hair growth. Due to its pungent aromatic properties it is also widely used in Perfumes and Fragrances. Rosemary probably arrived in Britain via the Romans and we know that the Saxons later used it in many of their Religious Ceremonies. It is said to be a virtue of fidelity and for this reason...

Sweet scented Rosemary

Advantages: See review
Disadvantages: None

...Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis) is an attractive evergreen shrub with pine needle-like leaves. It's trusses of blue flowers last through spring and summer in a warm, humid environment. It will grow to a height of between 3 and 5 feet. ***Cultivation*** Propagate from cuttings of the twisted wood of non-flowering branches in early summer, or layer established branches. Rosemary can also be grown from seed. Choose a sheltered position and well-drained soil, and allow the plant lots of sun. The thick shrub tolerates clipping so that the size can be kept in check. In hot weather it will appreciate a good hosing down. In a warm climate it can remain in the same location for up to 30 years, but in climates where freezing temperatures are expected it is best grown in pots so that it can be brought indoors in winter. ***History...
