Rotel RCD-06 cd player
Advantages: Solid Build, Looks, Good sound production, price
Disadvantages: Slighlty uncontrolled bass, no optical out may put some off
...out for rca lead and a digital coaxial output, it has no optical connection though which i wan't fussed about as i am using it as a transport, and to be honest digital coax is the better of the 2 IMO.
Now as mine is used a transport( i think i've mentioned that already) its not actually using the internal dac of the cd player, so the actual sound processing is done by my Dac-X (£1200) , So for this review i disconnected the Dac-x and am using the rotel as a standalone player.
Now this player cost me £300 (rrp £350) so its not really going to compare when run through a £1200 Dac, but i'm still confident this player will perform well.
I'm using a
Cyrus PreVs2 pre amp
Audiolab 8000m mono bloc power amps
and Totem Arro speakers ( see seperate review)
Now when ever i test or demo a piece of hi-fi equipment i tend to use a select choice...

One to Withstand the Tests of Time
Advantages: fantastic smooth sound, "analogue touch", very good reading of scratched CDs, best buy
Disadvantages: no optical digital output, scarce functionality
...It was a typical phenomenon. I was perfectly happy with my Rotel CD player. Excellent sound, solid construction and all the functionality I needed. Until I discovered its successor. Suddenly my old CD-player, looked old-fashioned and had the appeal of a worn off antique sofa.
The product in question is the Rotel RCD-950, a £350 CD-Player, top-rankings player in its price range, recipient of endless awards from the major audiophile publications, and sex-symbol of stereophiles seeking a budget entry to the world of high-end equipment, until, well until the RCD-951 entered the market in late 1998 for the same price.
I immediately went to my Rotel dealer, left a deposit and took the new RCD-951 home for a week, and expected my 950 to look really old when tested against the 951. Surprisingly (considering how easily I usually waste money...

THE SONY RCD PLAYER.
Advantages: NICE FUNCTIONS AND DOES NOT CONFUSE WHEN IN USE.
Disadvantages: LACKS SOME VITAL FEATURES LIKE THE SHOCK PROOF.
...long for me.
Well the manufacturers decided not to put in shockproof may be, it is not like the portable players that are meant to be taken around may be they put these things into considerations but still comfortable with that.
I still tip Sony my best electronic manufactures do to how their product is being built, in terms of product vigorousness and ease of use that is user friendly. Sony to me gave electronics its innovative features and on the other hand, the oldest in electronic productions.
Have a lot of Sony RCD products similar to this but I still take this one the product of my choice.
When connected to a superior speaker, that is when you will get the real sound quality.
Lets take a look at the product features:
It has a nice CD recorder with mp3 play back.
Multi CD player is also available...

ROTEL RA-01
Advantages: real hi-fi sound !
Disadvantages: not much for the money!
...I have owned this amp now for about 18 months and i still enjoy listening to music through it , i have the amp connected to a pair of quad 11L speakers a cambridge audio cd and digitail tuner and a project turntable.
The ROTEL RA-01 is a intergrated amp with five inputs including a mm phono input for turntable
Tone controls bass and treble , with a tone defeat switch (switches the bass and treble off keeping the sound as close to the original as possible).
Two pairs of speakers can be connected with switching between the pairs or both pairs of speakers on at the same time.(4 in total)
Power handling is 2 x 40 watts ,8 ohms , don't be put of by what seems to be a low power rating this amp will go far louder than you can imagine , how loud a hi fi can go is down to the sensitivity of the speakers (i.e how easy they can be...

THE SONY RCD-W3
Advantages: Good quality stack system cd player
Disadvantages: A little big and bulky
...Sync Recording ) and (High speed (x4) finalizing). There is a 24 bit D/A Converter and a CD/CDR dual deck, this bargain would not be complete without a remote control so you can even operate the CD player from anywhere else in the room.
Power consumption when on uses about 20w and it requires 230 V;50/60 Hz to run effectively. The weight of this product is around 5kg.
How could it be better ? There isn?t much the Sony RCD-W3 cant do but if i had to comment on some thing i would say -make it play MP3! Other wise no complaints here !...

Make your life easier.
Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: None
...How many of you are tired trying to copy CD?s on the computer and it freezes? This is one of the most annoying things that happened on a regular basis in some households, you just want to throw the computer in the bin. I know this as it has happened to me on a number of occasions.
If you can sympathise with this is you, then you need the SONY RCD-W100S CD Player.
This is a player, which acts as a cd player when linked into the amp and a copier to transfer information on one cd to the copy. The player comes with the manufacturer's warranty and covers the product for a minimum period of 12 months from the date of purchase.
When you first look at this machine you see two doors for the cd?s to go into. The one to the left is the Master and the left one is the Slave. The master cd is inserted into the player...

Budget marshall good starter
Advantages: Great marshall distortion, footswitch input. suggested sounds on the instruction manual.
Disadvantages: Quiet clean channel, no ext. speaker output.
...The G50RCD is from the Park range, but now has been given the honour of bearing the coveted Marshall name. The Park range was designed to give a marshall sound and look, at an affordable price.
I bought the G50RCD when I started doing some live perfomances, which mean that my little 10watt practice amp was no longer up to the job. I chose the 50watt as it is loud enough for small venues, and is still of a reasonable size and weight (about 20kg).
I got the amp on special offer for £160, but this was about 2-3 years ago, so that price is probably about standard by now.
Straight out of the box, the sound is not great, but after a few days wearing in the speaker, (I advise you to turn the volume at least half way for some of this period.) it becomes a lot warmer. The clean channel is a bit dissapointing, and too quiet, but then who...
