...If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the centre of Rotterdam then stop reading now. Approx cost per night EURO -95 to 135 for a standard room per night - breakfast is extra at approx EUR 16. Rotterdam is located approx 1 hr by train away from Skipol Airport with a 10 minute taxi ride from Rotterdam station to the hotel. Novotel have more than one hotel in Rotterdam, this on is situated in the midlle of a business park (Brainpark) which is next to a motorway. The hotel itself is modern and the 1st impression we had upon arrival was of welcome and comfort. The main receiption areain the hotel is just to the left of the entrance but you cannot miss it. It is located between the elevators to which are available to take you to the correct end of your floor rather than having to walk the full length...

Rotterdam - Avoid Mondays!!

Advantages: The Dutch beers!
Disadvantages: Closed on Mondays, the weather

...I visited Rotterdam on a P and O minibreak last week. The P and O mini cruises are fantastic value for money because at this time of year (February) two people travel for the price of one. Having previously visited Amsterdam and Bruges with P and O we decided to try Rotterdam. We purposefully avoided travelling on a Sunday because we thought everything would be closed, how we wished we had researched in it properly before booking! In Rotterdam Sunday is not a day of rest, unfortunately for us Monday is. We found that the only things open were The Euromast (quite an experience with a great cafe/restaurant half way up) and the Spido boat which took us on a tour of the harbour. Unfortunately the Genever distillery in Schiedam, the Pancake boat, the markets, the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen (which has work by Dali, Picasso etc...

An underrated city

Advantages: Great shopping, sensational modern architecture, good public transport
Disadvantages: Climate sometimes,car parking difficult

...I have been visiting Rotterdam for both short and extended periods for at least 15 years. It's an underrated city in my view, but you will either love or hate it. It's a vibrant, proud, and above all, a working city. Since it was virtually flattened in 1940 it has never stopped renewing itself - there is always building going on. There is sensational modern architecture all along Weena, near the Centraal Station, and all through the city. Look at the Beurs building, the Potlood (pencil) the library, the cube houses (you can go inside these), and the Euromast. It's the world's biggest port, and the bridges are spectacular. You can take a boat tour on the Spido, so that you can rest your feet. Getting around is easy. There is a very efficient public transport system: bus, tram and metro. City in line with Dutch mentality

Advantages: There are many hidden nice places and great night life
Disadvantages: Modern and not really beautiful

...Rotterdam was smashed during the World War II and unlike other big cities in Europe (Warsaw would be a good example), Dutch people decided not to restore city to the initial outlook. Instead, in typical Dutch manner, they decided to transform Rotterdam in playground of modern architecture. Frankly speaking, not always experimenting is good but after all, someone has to try, isn’t it? Briefly about places where architects actually succeeded, - Cubic Houses is a good example, - start you journey from Cooolsingel and go to the direction of the Cubics, - you will see that actually they look like a mountain range with Pencil House pointing as a top on the range and the arch at Blaak Metro station just making the sense of mountains stronger. The P & O Pride of Rotterdam - MiniCruise

Advantages: A fantastic sailing experience, from beginning to end
Disadvantages: That it had to end!

...Having just returned today from a very pleasurable break away courtesy of P & O North Sea Ferries, I felt that I would like to share my experiences with you all so that you can judge for yourselves whether or not a minicruise is for you. To set the scene, I had booked myself and my fiancee onto the Hull to Rotterdam Return Motorist MiniCruise sailing at 21:00, driving my little Citroen Saxo over to Europe. I had also booked cabin accommodation, with a Standard 2-Berth Bed Outside Cabin on the outward journey, and a Standard 2-Berth Bunk Inside Cabin on the return. Hull to Rotterdam Review

Advantages: Loads to do, fun, better than camping
Disadvantages: Alcohol + Rough Sea = Chunder

...We took the P&O Cruise ferry from Hull to Rotterdam. Booking was easy, all done online and you could choose your cabin. We were lucky enough as we booked early to get an outside cabin. The price was amazing, two for one offer making the total cost of the trip just £70.This included: Free long term parking at the hull terminal, two nights in an outside onsuite cabin., the travel to Rotterdam and coach transfers from Rotterdam to Amsterdam. So that makes it, £35 each. what a bargain! You can prebook your meals, a dinner and breakfast costs £21 each. So if theres two of you going and want dinner and breakfast on the outbound and return it costs £82. More than the actual voyage itself! This doesnt include any alcoholic drinks either. It is a buffet dinner and a buffet breakfast with plenty to choose from so its not actually that bad...

A Good Comilation Album Of Easy Listening Pop

Advantages: All tracks are good or at least listenable to.
Disadvantages: It will not blow you away apart from "Song For Whoever"

...Last November I booked a 5 day return Hull to Rotterdam returning Zeebrugge - Hull. Outbound we travelled on Pride of Rotterdam. The food was fantastic and the Indonisien crew were fabulous. Cabin was clean. As a unit trust holder dissapointed as more expensive with discounts!!! August 9/20 did Hull - Rotterdam return on Pride of Hull. We had two cabins and both stank of urine, food not as good as on Pride of Rotterdam and staff regarding cleaning reluctantly came with a spray to remove smell of urine. I contested this and they said that's all they can do. I went to information to complain. Eventually a manager came who said yes it smells and we will get the cabins cleaned. After dinner we went back and one cabin smelt a little better. HOWEVER NEITHER HAD BEEN CLEANED. After paying nearly one thousand pounds for this trip as a unit...
