...The basic method of playing Switch is the same the world over,
although the choice of penalty cards does vary and in doing so
causes untold confusion. I understand that this game has other
names but I don't know what they are.
Switch is a unique game, in that it doesn't follow the whist
or rummy format, nor is it a variation of poker or brag. Any
number can play but if there will be more than about 8
players, an extra pack of cards must be used. Whether the
extra pack of cards has the same design on the back as the
first pack, is irrelevant. The speed of the game is such, that
there shouldn't be time to work out the probability of a
player holding a particular card, based on the difference in
the back of the card.
I have played Switch as man and boy for nigh on half a century
and it makes a nice change from...

Didn't make me Switch off!
Advantages: Sweet, lovely story, well acted
Disadvantages: Very predictable, not a lot actually happened!
...his best friend what he did. Can he own up to the switch?! I was sent this film on my Lovefilm account a few months ago, and to be honest I forgot all about it until last night! I was bored, and wanted to watch something a bit light-hearted and funny, and found this on top of my DVD player and decided it would be worth a watch. Jen Aniston films are always a bit hit and miss for me, so I was hoping that this one would be one of her better ones! I haven't really seen Jason Bateman in a lot of movies, so didn't have a lot of expectation regarding him. What I did notice about this film was that really, the entire plot-line was revealed in the movie's blurb, and there wasn't a lot surprising there, it was just there for you to watch the journey this took, and how it'd pan out, but although it wasn't overly exciting, it was a lo...

An Opportunity to Switch Off
Advantages: It's relatively inoffensive.
Disadvantages: It's formulaic and features lacklustre performances, direction and writing.
...for every supposedly emotional moment. The score sits at odds with the other soundtrack choices that include plenty of kitsch 80s numbers like ?Papa Don?t Preach? and ?Instant Replay?. Overall it is an unremarkable accompaniment to an unremarkable film.
?The Switch? is a generic romantic comedy that lacks the laughs and the palpable romance to make it a memorable addition to the genre. The direction is slipshod and unimaginative. The writing is bland and the performances are phoned in. A tighter edit might have helped, but the material simply isn?t strong enough to work. It also suffers from having been released in the wake of the similarly-themed ?The Back-Up Plan?. It might be worth a punt if it is on TV and you?re a fan of one of the stars, but I wouldn?t go to any pains to seek it out....
