Disadvantages: Pain in the arse to get working.

...This review is aimed at home networking. In other words anyone that started off (like me)? with one main computer in the house, and now finds they need more connectivity. In time we grow out of our basic needs, or in my case the girlfriend wanted her own Pc & Internet connection This is cool, as I now have my own Pc all to myself again! Perhaps family members get their own Pc's, kids need the Internet for their studies etc, So instead of having separate accounts to get on the net (which would cost a fortune) it would be nice to all share one internet connection, and one bill. Man on wire - 1360 feet up over downtown Manhattan

Advantages: A compelling tale told with warmth and humour by those who lived it
Disadvantages: Unnecessary "reconstruction" scenes used over voiceovers

...The BBC`s rather bold policy of showing five series of The Wire back-to-back during the spring and summer evenings is very welcome as it annoying, and certainly all rather frantic if you want to keep up, video tapes piling up by our TVs as the excellent American cop series goes out at that post Newsnight, BBC2, 11:15pm weekday slot. It's a complete mystery why they didn't put it on the 9 pm weekday slot to build its popularity and so drag it out for two years it's that good and intelligent viewing for that anti-ITV prime-time slot. Belting Belkin Router!

Advantages: Fairly easy to set up, easy to use, reliable, looks good.
Disadvantages: Bandwidth Innacurate.

...in the garden, then you shouldn't have any big connection issues (dropping connection etc) due to its proximity? unless you live in a big house with a big garden of course. You should check Belkins website to make sure this router will provide the coverage you need though as I wouldn't want to just assume it would for the purpose of this review. It also means that my dad can use my connection from his house next door if his net ever goes down (although he'd need me to give him the security password which I shall talk about below) as our network shows up on his laptop when he's reconnecting to his home network haha. This also reinforces the security aspect that I will address in a few moments as you don't know who else can pick up your network on a wireless search within your area! Setting up was relatively easy, connect all the wires...

Review of Belkin N1 Vision Wireless Modem Router - wireless router

Great Multimedia Wireless Router from Belkin

Advantages: Reliable, Fast, Easy to configure, Lots of features, USB for sharing drives
Disadvantages: Bit expensive, Not full speed with every machine

...and upload speeds despite this anyway. Only thing is, transferring files within the network isn't as fast as I'd like from my laptop. This router does boast it has the "Best" speed and coverage as opposed to the lower end routers in the range which only give you 'Good' or 'Better' speed and coverage so the lower speed on my laptop may be due to some sort of incompatibility. Wireless range is good though as I can get at least a good signal around the house. Don't know what the maximum speed is for this router but I'm guessing 300Mbits? Compared to the router that came with my broadband with BE, web pages do seem to download quicker. Wireless aside, the router also has four Ethernet ports so you could plug PCs and network devices in directly should that be convenient as wired connections are always more reliable. Speed may be about the same though...

Router minefield!!!

...When looking to go wireless in the computer world it is an absolute minefield when it comes to wireless routers/modems. I sat at my latop(tethered to the telephone socket with wires) scouring google for write ups about this router and that router when i came across this one. Now this is rated as being the best selling router/modem in the UK and has been for some time. I think i paid around £40 from ebuyer.com. I chose it because of the fact its reasonably priced. Its a good trustworthy brand and it seemed to come up to scratch on speed. Upon opening the box the installation was very simple indeed. I just followed the instructions that came with the router and hey prsto i was wireless on my laptop.Software is easy to install and self explanatory. Its not the fastest band of router on the market but for what i needed it was ample...
