Reviews of routers & bridges linksys wireless router
Wonderful wireless bridge
Review of Buffalo AirStation Turbo G High Power WLI-TX4-G54HP - bridge by
ncdave4life
Advantages: best way to get a wired ethernet port at the other end of a wireless connection
Disadvantages: none
...This is a fabulous product! It is absolutely the BEST way to get wired ethernet at other end of a wireless connection.
his is a wireless bridge. It is like hanging a 6-port switch off one of the wired ethernet ports on your wired+wireless router, in that it gives you four more ethernet ports. However, it connects to your router wirelessly, so you can put it anywhere, and it doesn't use up any of the existing wired ethernet ports. With this device, you can have four more ethernet ports, equivalent to the ones that are on your wireless router, but but they can be anywhere in your home or office, because they are connected to the router wirelessly.
If you need a wireless connection to a device or computer that cannot use a dedicated wireless adapter, then a wireless bridge, like this, is the only way to do it.
I also have a Linksys WET...

If your looking for a VPN router look else where.
Review of Linksys Wireless-G VPN Broadband Router WRV54G - wireless router by
chris547
Advantages: Router and wireless in one package
Disadvantages: VPN doesn't work as advertised!
...on and there's no VPN connection you won't be able to connect to the internet!
There has been reports on various Linksys support sites like http://www.linksysinfo.org and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wrv54g of stability problems on wireless and LAN, but I didn't experience any. Although this product has been released, Linksys has been producing various Beta releases of the firmware to cope with some of the problems, but it gives the impression that this product wasn't yet suitable for public release.
The packaging does states that the router can be used to connect 50 remote or travelling users, this is where the problems come in. The problem is that this router doesn't provide NAT transversal support. When using remote broadband access sites like, Wifi Hotspots, GPRS and internet cafes it is highly likely you will be behind a NAT and thus...

Linksys Router
Review of Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless Access Point Router with 4-Port Switch by
sum41rule
Advantages: Can hook up a few computers to it,can have a password
Disadvantages: slow transfer of big files between computers
...The last review was very good but I thought I would give one more about the product itself.
After purchasing a laptop it became apparent that I wouldnt want to run a cable from my broadband box to my laptop in order to use the internet especially when this is already plugged into my PC. The next logical step? By a wireless router and i'm assuming that if your are reading this then you will either be in this position or just cant be bothered with having cables all around your house anymore.
As the title says this is a Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless Access Point Router with 4-Port Switch. Fore this router to work you need to make sure that your broadband has an ETHERNET port otherwise you will need to find another router as you plug your broadband into this router via an ethernet cable in order for it to be able to send out the signal...

Wireless Linksys WRT350N
Review of Linksys Wireless-N Gigabit Router with Storage Link WRT350N - wireless router by
Dangly
Advantages: reliable, cheap for its functionality, fast, stylish, clever, easy to use, versatile
Disadvantages: none
...This product is fantastic. I had no problems setting it up. Instant connection, has 1 wan port, 4 lan ports, 3 wireless aerials, and a power input. It has a massive range even through walls. My connection isnt fast enough to eve get close to the 100+ mbs this bad boy can produce. This router is awesome. Doesnt break, easy set up. Massive range, from a respected company. Wide support, and upgrade in firmware has fixed the bugs. I thought this product might be faulty when i got it, was a little worried, but this blew my expectations out the window. Featuring n, g, b and a connections means it a so versatile, i can have 4 connections all on different waves. I recommend this product to anyone who wants a reliable router that can produce an amazing connection that doesnt fail you. Buy this router it is reliable, cheap for its functionality...

netgear > (smc, dlink, belkin, linksys)
Review of NETGEAR WGT624 108 Mbps Wireless Firewall Router - wireless router by
StopVonage
Advantages: bulletproof, but not for idiots
Disadvantages: old firmware sometimes fails to renew IP lease
...If you're shopping on a budget you're going to get crap. That's life. Own up to it. One buys netgear for SOLID RELIABILITY and power user features. Unfortunately the early firmwares for this particular model were a little weak for cable modem users (me), but alright for DSL users (me too). The new firmware solves the issue of mysteriously disappearing IP leases (which used to require a router reset every three days once the issue manifested)
The lastest firmware contains many DHCP fixes, adds upnp, and other stuff that doesn't concern me.
I would like to see netgear go opensource on firmware as did Cisco's linksys. The sveasoft firmware for the Cisco Linksys WRT54GS2+ rocks! (even though sveasoft continues to violate the GPL)
A (turbo) / G (turbo) / B coverage is awesome. Even at the fringes of range (in a 6000 sq ft house...

broadband router
Review of Linksys EtherFast Wireless AP + Cable/DSL Router - wireless router by
swordfish1966
Advantages: Allows wireless sharing of broadband internet.
Disadvantages: Mains adaptor gets hot
...The router enables to you to share a single broadband connection either wireless or via cables.
This review is for the wireless ability. When you unpack the router you get all the cables to connect to ypur modem and pc, the only drawback is that the modem must be ethernet not usb.
You plug one cable from the modem into the back of the router marked internet and plug one cable from one of the networks port marked 1,2,3,4 into the back of the pc.
To use this device as a wireless unit you need a receiver for the other computer which plugs into the back of it via ethernet.
The ability of this device is very good, our router is shut away inside a desk, the other computer is 2 floors away, therefore the signal must travel through the desk, and 2 floors before the other computer recieves the signal.
One point I forgot to mention...

Fantastic wireless router
Review of Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Gateway with SpeedBooster WAG54GS - wireless router by
piloteer81
Advantages: Doddle to setup, fast and very good signal
Disadvantages: A Little jargonated!
...I felt compelled to review this product, especially as one other review was so negative. You only have to look at a more hardware dedicated review site such as www.ebuyer.co.uk to see this router is something special.
I have used numerous routers, mainly high end ones from the likes of Vigor for cable and ADSL, and a few more user friendly ones from Netgear and the like, and this Linksys is by far and away the easiest to setup - simple short bullet points with no expectation that you know the ins and outs of wireless networking. Follow these and you really can't go wrong.
It is very quick too, the internet was slightly faster and more responsive than with the previous router but the best thing was the wireless signal strength. We have very dense walls and the wireless adapter is at a diagonal angle through it. This meant...

Crappest wireless router, looks blue for a reason
Review of Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G - wireless router by
china_wolf
Advantages: When it works it works
Disadvantages: Unreliable, slow, low range, ugly as a killer whale's backside
...One day, the father of networks wanted his progeny to evolve their wireless routers and hubs further. He gathered his four apprentices and told them to do so with strict instructions.
The first was Belkin. Belkin learnt from his old ways and became faster and more reliable than ever before.
The second was Netgear. It decided to take the reliable route as reliability was a better cause, and speed should take secondary priority, although is is rather fast.
The third was Buffalo. Contrary to Netgear, Buffalo took the speed path and have reliable as a secondary priority, although it is very reliable.
The last was Linksys. Seeing that his classmates have all taken the routes that he might have undergone, Linksys goes 'I know! I wont change at all! I will just add the word Wireless-G 54Mbps on my chest and paint it green!'
And so the rest...

LINKSYS WAG54GS WITH SPEEDBOOSTER
Review of Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Gateway with SpeedBooster WAG54GS - wireless router by
JamesKendall456
Advantages: Very quick and can handle a lot.
Disadvantages: NONE.
...This is a very good wireless router. I have set up two networks now using this. The software is very easy to use and requires minimal effort. The cd guides you through step by step checking your connection and asking you only relevant details that you can acquire from your internet service provider. It can handle a lot of data transfer and can accept numerous computer connections at once. It accepts many types of security and is very reliable. It never cuts out and it broadcasts a signal a long way into my garden and field. Highly recommended, easy to use, doesn't get too hot, isn't unsightly. Very good router. Never overloads!!!!! Buy it definately. You will never go back to cables again...trust me! Linksys are also very helpful with a one 2 one chat facility online to get help with your queries!!!!!!!
Along with this I have...

Linksys Router: connection, get through my walls
Review of Linksys Wireless-G Network Kit WGKPC354G - wireless router by
nimrod_king
Advantages: Small
Disadvantages: Connection quality in some areas
...Our house has had this kit for nearly a year, in our household we have one main computer in which the router runs of and was configured by, and 2 laptops moving around the house picking up a wireless connection. Mine is currently upstairs and it has non connection at all, the only way I can get the internet is if I sit around 12 meters away from the router. The other laptop using the service is directly above the room with the router in and the connection quality there is on average 3 bars (good). I am disappointed in that (however I can only think it is because our house has fairly thick walls) but I still don’t see that as much as a problem. Set up took along, long time for me and I am taking a degree in IT, I was constantly on the phone, on friend’s internet trying to get help. Please be aware of extra costs when buying a product...
