Rover 75 Diesels
Advantages: MPG..Toys..Insurance group..
Disadvantages: Bootspace..if anything !
...I'm on my 2nd Rover 75 now, a saloon with all the bells and whistles...I had the estate version on recommendation of a truly knowledgeable friend in the motor trade and loved it..then the leather clad, sunroofed Connosieur turned up at a laughable price so I went for it...
Both versions offer a seriously cheap way to get a good strong car, wich is both comfortable and economical...mileage claims from fans vary between 45 and 55 mpg on the diesel 2ltr engine and that's got to be good enough..They'll tow anything and run all day on motorways or round the town...
The interiors are fitted with enough toys to keep even the biggest gadget freak happy and electrically they're usually pretty good..a few ABS sensor problems and a bugger of a system for fuel delivery ( twin pumps) often means it's worth being nice to your local MG Rover...

Rover 75 connoisseur SE V6 automatic
Advantages: Fantastic looks, lot of car for the money, smooth V6 engine, comfortable, reliable
Disadvantages: Lack of Rover dealers after collapse of the company, expensive to run (V6 petrol)
...Review on the Rover 75 Connoisseur SE 2.0L V6 Automatic. Year 2000 model.
I purchased this car in 2004 with 22,000 miles on the clock. I kept it for almost 4 years and covered 73,000 miles. I really enjoyed owning the Rover 75 and never had any major issues with it. The cost of servicing was fairly high, especially the 6 year service which included changing the cambelts, this was a whopping £800.
The interior conveys a feeling of luxury, from the burr walnut dash to the piped leather seats. Extras on my car included a burr walnut steering wheel, sat nav, TV with teletext, cruise control, electric rear blind, trip computer and heated seats. You also get seperate climate control for each side of the car, something missing on many more expensive cars. The dashboard has a lovely orange glow which I much prefer to the green on my...

75 Reasons
Advantages: Grown up and well engineered luxury car
Disadvantages: Rover badge, insecurity of the firm
...Considering all the trouble that has surrounded Rover over the years, it's a mazing the company exists at all. Thinking back at all those awful cars the company made (or in fact all their cars), they really should have died a quick death a long tinme ago. The rule here is that Rover make crap cars. And to prove a rule you need an exception and the 75 is just that.
Rover cars have lived under the pretence of having some sort of prestige for years now, thinking that putting a chrome grille on below-par super-mini somehow justifies the car as prestigious. Posh people would never buy a Rover. Rovers are bought by middle-class retired people. But with the 75 Rover has finally created a car of real refinement, a car that actually oozes quality.
Much of this is done by blatantly copying the Jaguar S-Type, but the 75 is a far better...

Rover 75 more like Rover 0.75- Don't touch it..
Advantages: Looks, Comfortable interior, Excellent Navigation
Disadvantages: 3 Engines , 2 Gearboxes later
...I got my new company car, A rover 75 1.8 Conniseur SE with Highline Navigation in January 2000, approximately a year after the Rover 75 was launched. It was Wedgwood Blue and came with black leather seating, 6 CD Changer, electric seats with a memory that remembered just how you had positioned the seat. (A very useful thing as you will read later) The car oozed style and class and all the interior furnishings were well crafted and finished. the Navigational system was a dream to use, and surprisingly simple, fully integrated into the dashboard. What I really liked was the Retro dashboard that gave the car a very stylish appearance. Space for passengers was good both in the front and back. Boot space was excellent.
The engine was a 1.8l petrol engine that ran very well, extremely economical with about 38 mpg, although it seemed...

ROVER AND OUT
Advantages: COMFORT, STYLE, REFINEMENT, TRADITIONAL ROVER VALUES
Disadvantages: NOT MADE ANYMORE
...It's time to write a review after owning a 75 for two and a half years, I now feel I know 75's rather well. This is the second Rover I have owned the first being a old shape 1995 214 which was my Dad's but drove after passing my driving test at 17. Two and a half years later at the age of 19 and being very impressed with the 214 I decided to buy a Rover 75.
I had a budget of under four grand so I decided to bite the bullet and buy a 75 from the auction. I knew pretty much what to look out for and finally bought a X reg 2001 1.8 classic with NO aircon in wedgwood blue. I really wanted a 2.0v6 connoisseur se but being 19 had to think about insurance!. Although a bog standard 75 it was in the lovely wedgwood blue which is one of the best colours in my opionion had just been serviced with a new cambelt was in superb condition with 102k...

Rover 75 1.8T Connoisseur 4dr LPG dual fuel
Advantages: Great car at rock bottom price, luxurious very cheap to run- 1992 fuel prices!
Disadvantages: Expensive tyres,
...I have owned a Rover 75 1.8T Conneseur, 2005 (54 plate) since 2006. I bought it for £7000 with 10,000 miles on the clock. (A saving of £16,000 against new with the extras this one has on it. It loads of extras like the 17" alloys, climate control, rear parking sensors, auto dimming mirror, rain sensors etc, trip computer and information computer. It even tells you when the brakes are worn or the screen wash is empty.
I had mine coverted to an LPG fuel car with a toroidal tank in the spare wheel well. I get 34 mpg with it combined but pay about 2/5's the price. Made my money back after 1 year. Car is a great drive, plenty of power. Only problem has been the petrol fuel filter undoing itself, common problem. Really comfy car, I can't see how you can go wrong with one of these at the price. They were overpriced originally by about £3000-4000....

The Rover Has Landed
Advantages: Interior, boot space, seats, fuel, dash, navigator, handling on straights
Disadvantages: poor handling around town, clunky gears, expensive
...The Rover 75v6 SE is a very classy car, perhaps one of the best cars Rover (or whatever they're called these days) has ever produced.
The styling is very much in league with the Jaguar S-type but doesn't quite beat it for quality either in the interior design or the build of the motor.
However, the car does shout "come and get me, I won't break down...honest!" quite loudly. Opening the driver's door for the first time you can instantly smell the genuine aroma of wood rather than the horrid odour of a wood polish daubed on the plastic fascia.
The seat is fully adjustable of course and is very very comfortable even for my rather thin but leggy 6ft frame. The steering wheel is also very comfortable and PS makes turning even the tightest of arcs a doddle.
The styling of the dashboard, panelling, side pockets etc just oozes...

Go Roaming in a Rover
Advantages: style and smoothness
Disadvantages: non as yet
...Well what a car,I've owned mine now for 12 months, 2000 model.
The car is a 2ltr,24 valve, V6 engine 4 door saloon,Power steering and with all the style and comfort of a Jaguar in fact in my opinion much better looking, but at a fraction of the cost.
Factory fitted alarm and immobiliser, and radio alarmed keys.
Check around for the best engine, mine is a BMW engine fitted to Rovers when they were part of the manufacturing process,an engine which is renowed for its reliability.
But with all the exterior and interior quality of Rover GB.
A superbly comfortable drive, with easy handling, especially for the longer journeys, with ample room for three adult passengers in the rear seating.
5 speed manual gear box, climate control for extra comfort, driver and passenger airbags, electric windows, 6 cd multi changer, cassette player...

Land rover Discovery TD5
Advantages: 4 wheel drive with lowering prices
Disadvantages: A little soft on cornering
...If you have the money to spare and are looking for a car that has Looks - Style - Comfort - Reliability and a real name that's had a good following over the years, I would highly recommend the Land rover Discovery.
The biggest asset at the moment is that the price throughout the range has been reduced dramatically due to the recent changes in importation and dealership, and if you shop around you really can pick up an excellent deal, Even Secondhand.
With the TD5 ( Turbo Diesel ), you get real quality even with the earlier models. The only drawback with the earlier ones is that the ride tends to be a bit bumpy, but having said that the early models are more economical to run in general averaging 30 - 35 MPG.
The more recent models ( I.E 1997 Onward ) usually run at around 25 - 30 MPG, But obviously they are much more luxurious...

Land Rover TD4
Advantages: Powerful engine, it makes you feel safe
Disadvantages: sounds like a tractor
...could "skip" gears and the car would still pull you up to speed without any trouble.
The ride I found to be a very smooth one, with only the odd bump disturbing the gentle ride.
**Looks**
The outside of the car I think looked great, with its big wheels and its high cab. The car has a rustic "get up and go" look but sum how it still has a sporty ness about it.
The interior had a modern stylish look and feel to it. The colours that my grand parents decided to have (Cream with green) complemented the car and just set it apart from any other Land rover I have ever been in.
I am disappointed to say however that this is all let down by the poor quality of materials used in the car. After only 2 1/2 years the paint on the grill covering the speakers started to rust and the paint fell of leaving a horrible mess. The chrome...
