make me a cuppa ya young rapscallion
Review of Rowenta KE290 by
Dave999
Advantages: safer than boiling water over a firy stove
Disadvantages: im not a fan of yellow
...It may interest you to know that I have in fact just made myself a cup of coffee. I had a heaped teaspoon of coffee, two and a half sugars, and a splash of milk in my favourite mug.
This mug has a picture of Dennis the Menace and Gnasher on the front. Dont ask.
The kettle I used to heat the water to a respectable 100 degrees centigrade was not in fact a Rowenta KE290 but a slightly lower range model the KE220.
I have also used this kettle on occasion to heat water for Hot Chocolate and tea and it has does a similarly astounding job.
Much like computer towers kettles have recently made a smooth transaction from low and wide to tall and narrow. This makes for more space on the worktop to place extra mugs on those all important special occasions. Whether the mugs you use will be as snazzy as my Denace the Menace mug is debateable and I...

The Clearing up Becomes a Pleasure
Review of Rowenta Tonixo RS 740 by
greenrat
Advantages: keep my home in cleanliness
Disadvantages: it’s unwieldy
...Vacuum cleaner is one of the most important things in my housekeeping so I like Rowenta Tonixo RS 740. It cleans all my furniture and carpets and is not too big. It has small wheels and easy rolls with them. My little son says it’s unwieldy but with great pleasure try to take away the dust from his toys. Rowenta Tonixo RS 740 has many different devices and helps me keep my sweet home in cleanliness and takes away the dust from all corners and other inaccessible places. Its hose is pliable and I know it never break. It is wondering how expensive are Rowenta’s changeable dust bags but it is not very handy to take the bag out when it’s full....

Just surfes over clothes
Review of Rowenta Surfline DE 329 Iron by
Udo1
Advantages: good solid quality, some nice features
Disadvantages: feels a bit heavy when filled with water
...We bought the surfline about 3 months ago, because our old one packed up, so we went for Rowenta, because they are well known for their quality. We weren't dissapointed when we tested it, in fact we were positively surprised, the Rowenta Surfline doesn't just look great, it is a high quality product in every way. Our Surfline has got 1600w, 4 steam settings and an Anti Calc System, which collects the calc in a cartridge, which can be replaced when it is full.
Being a man, not many people think that these features really matter to me, but I find them very useful and ironing for me is just so much easier with the Rowenta, it just surfes over clothes. It fells very robust, my girlfriend can tell you that, she dropped it a few times. The watertank is in a very attractive transparent green and holds a good amount of water. However, when full...

Polly Puts the Kettle On!
Review of Rowenta KE 610 Kettles by
mrpaella
Advantages: Large Spout and Rapid Boil
Disadvantages: Too Heavy to Handle
...household appliance is needed we turn to Freemans catalogue where my wife is a member. But the cheapest kettle on offer was about GBP 30. No way was I going to pay GBP 30 for a mere kettle.
So my wife chose a Cookworks kettle from Argos for GBP 19.99 which seemed reasonable. We visited Hammersmith Argos on a very hot day. Unfortunately the Cookworks kettle was out of stock.
But a Rowenta kettle was in stock. I could have returned to Argos on another day when the Cookworks kettle was in stock or swallowed my pride and purchase the Rowenta kettle for GBP 29.95. Being quite lazy I plumped for the latter.
If my father was in the same situation then he would have returned home and returned when the item was in stock.
The girl on the till was too busy chatting to her colleague to offer me product replacement cover at GBP 6.49.
The most annoying...

A sucker for good design
Review of Rowenta RS 920 /S Infinium by
Silverback
Advantages: Great design, easy to use
Disadvantages: Pricey, and a bit heavy and noisy
...of their creations for myself. But as I don't wear bras (in public at least) I had to make do with their vacuum cleaner.
It's made by Rowenta in France and it cost me 5p shy of £180. "All that, just to suck up sh*t!" as George Melly once memorably said of the art-deco Hoover factory in west London. So was it worth it?
I can confidently say that it does its basic job well - it has a 1,300 Watt motor which produces, they say, '300 Air Watts' of suction power. In reality that means it efficiently extracts the dirt from your carpets. But the key to good design, like the devil, is in the detail. And it's the details that make the difference to this machine.
The body is an unusual shape for a start: it's like a little rounded pyramid or a space capsule, finished in pale metallic silver, blue and grey. It has a smoked plastic window through which you can...

Cosmic Water Boiler
Review of Rowenta KE400 Cosmos C/less Kettle by
Champ666
Advantages: Boils Water
Disadvantages: Horrible Design
...Kettles have an easy life all they have to do is boil water and there job is done. This kettle boils water using a 2 to 2.4KW element which means that it does it with a certain dergree of rapidity, which is missing from kettle with lower powered elements, it also has a 1.5 litre maximum capacity which is less than other Kettles I have used but when do you even make that quantity of tea or coffee in one go?
The things that I really like about this kettle are that it is codrless so there is no farting about with the cable, and it also means that kettle cables in my possesion can be used for guitar amps as god intended. The other good thing is that it effectivley has no minimum level of water, in practice this is not true, you you can boil a mug of water if you so desire, highly energy efficent if you ask me.
The main downside...

Good Iron
Review of Rowenta Powerglide DM 233 Iron by
meatchy
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...I Bought The Rowenta. Because I Was Told It Was A Good Iron.
And When I Bought It I Had A 30 Day Return Policy On The Iron.
If It Didn't Work Good, I Could Send It Back. The Vertical Stream
Work Well. The Iron Shout Off Automatic. If The Iron Fall Face
Down, It Cut Off In 8 Sec. If You Forget To Turn It Off Or Unplug
It, It Turn Off In 30 Sec. The Iron Will Just Glide Against The
Clothes. The Steam Works Two Ways. It Has Extra Steam For The Hard
Wrinkles....

Open a can of worms
Review of Rowenta Electric Can Opener by
offy
Advantages: Quick and easy to use, handles most can sizes/shapes
Disadvantages: A pain to have to get out if you have stored it far away, cutters need cleaning, can't handle 7 inch cans
...If you answer ‘yes’ to any of the following questions, then you could consider buying or asking for an electric can opener:
• Do you do a lot of cooking that involves opening cans?
• Do you hate cooking, so open a lot of cans?
• Do you love gadgets?
• Are you just a little lazy?
• Do you have everything else you need in life?
• Are you running out of ideas to put on your wedding/engagement list?
• Are you awkward to buy presents for?
• Do you have tendonitis (thanks KarenUK for the idea) or arthritis?
I didn’t actually buy my Rowenta electric can opener. My mother-in-law got it free from Currys when she bought another household item. Not being a fan of anything ‘complicated’ or ‘new fangled’ she did not even consider using it. Instead (and I am...

Full Steam Ahead Rowenta
Review of Rowenta DM 520 Precisio by
GavMan
Advantages: Brand reputation, AirGlide soleplate
Disadvantages: Absolutely none
...The Rowenta DM520 has got to be simply the best iron that I have ever owned. I paid £49.99 for it out of Curry’s a few months back, a little pricey you might say, but I can honestly admit, it is worth every single penny.
This is the second Rowenta iron I’ve owned. The first lasted for 9½ years, and I’m positive would still be working today, if I my sister hadn’t knocked it off the ironing board onto the ceramic tiles on the kitchen floor. (However, I’ll give her credit where credit is due, she did buy me a replacement). However, it wasn’t a Rowenta, and it blew up after 2 months. But anyway, the thought was there, and I hate bearing grudges.
Before I bought it, I did my research and checked prices etc, but I came to the conclusion that I’m better sticking to a brand that I’ve used...

Great when it works!!
Review of Rowenta DX 9301 Perfect by
ladyboymondaytofriday
Advantages: lots of steam - heats up quickly - makes ironing easier
Disadvantages: spends more time being repaired than actually being used
...Lets face it - nobody on Earth likes ironing except perhaps Mrs Miggins who lives down the road from me who liked to sit in the window with iron in hand every minute of each daylight hour - that was until the men in white coats came for her!
I have always used Rowenta products as I found them to be excellent quality and hence the purchase a number of months ago of the DX9301 for only £25.99 and yes I thought it would revolutionise the way I ironed after reading the blurb on the box - I even expected it to do the hoovering it sounded that good.
The iron has 5 settings each setting varies the heat and I have to say, it heats up very quickly - the steam comes out in huge clouds after only 2-3 minutes after switching the power on and the amount of steam is impressive, even when the water holder is nearly empty. The handle is easy to grip...
