RIPPED OFF BY ROXIO AND ADAPTEC

...Roxio and this version has been replaced by a new version for XP and there is not going to be an update for this unless you purchase the new V5 platinum edition and then download a patch....I am so angry as I have purchased XP and installed it and with Easy cd or Direct cd installed hardly any of my hardware works...not even a CD rom. I have surfed and scanned updated and used the XP wizard but I have to face facts....it will never work as long as the Adaptec and Roxio software Writers have a hole in their a**e. They are offering the V5 platinum version....which by all accounts is very good for £50ish...BUT WHAT ABOUT US SUCKERS THAT HAVE RECENTLY BOUGHT V4. Freecome DVD RW Recorder USB 2.0

...I ordered my Freecom DVD Recorder LS USB 2.0 after my CD/DVD drive packed up on my 15 month old HP Desktop. I wanted it mainly to load CD ROM and burn DVD's from movies already converted to DVD format on my hard drive. Being that my PC had no disk drive I relied upon this external drive to load the bundled DVD burning software (Roxio 9). This took several days and many attempts. Then I tried burning my first DVD. After taking 3 hours to do a task that previously took about 30 minutes, this recorder produced a disc that no dvd player in my home recognised (and I have 4). I found the user interface very unfriendly and it simply didn't work. Needles to say, I'll be getting a refund!...

The downside to it is that it has no firewire installed, and no S-Video port, also intergrated graphics , which uses some of your memory , therefor reducing speed a little. Having said that the AMD 64x2 dual processor make multi - tasking easy. It has Vista Home installed , this makes finding and using programmes much easier.It has a good quality DVD writer for dual format discs. It is lightweight for mobile use and very robust. For a good value laptop this is about the best for its price. It also has some software added such as Roxio for copying cd's and dvd's, it also has a 60GB hard drive for storage.
