Fit for a Royal visit??

Advantages: Comfortable, lovely bathroom and great decor
Disadvantages: Ground floor rooms noisy, breakfast not great

...Cambridge is a city of austere and imposing architecture and although the Georgian(?) exterior of this hotel is a flat, grey and not the prettiest around (last time I looked a couple of the letters were missing from the name too) the interior is luxurious and well designed. I stayed here for one night in the Queen's Room, a tastefully decorated (If you like the Victorian look) medium sized room on the ground floor. According to my boyfriend who booked it, it was a "special" room so I expect the others were perhaps not as large, although there is a King's Room next door. The bed was comfy, and all the usual facilities were present: TV, hairdryer, Tea and Coffee although there was no minibar. Room service meals are reasonably priced and there are pay per view films on the TV. I am frequently disappoionted by hotel bathrooms but ours...

Cambridge diet

Advantages: A low callorie diet
Disadvantages: Tastes vile

...The Cambridge diet is the type of diet that is known as a VLCD or a Very Low Calorie Diet. On the Cambridge Diet you consume 415 to 1500 calories per day, on what I described as a flexible weight-loss programme. It is a Sole Source Diet, in that all of your vitamin and mineral requirements are provided by the diet regimen. You take the diet meals in the form of powdered shakes that you mix yourself, soups, chocolate coated bars and readymade drinks. The diet depends on the effect of Ketosis, which is the technical term for starvation. Men and women need 2,000 to 2,500 calories per day. The Cambridge Diet relies on the fact that your body will have to rely on fat reserves in order to provide energy. Unfortunately the first thing to be burnt off will be muscle mass and vital organs, so most experts believe that any VLCD should...

The Royal Wee

Advantages: Easy toclean
Disadvantages: My son removes wee defender

...My son?s Royal Throne I bought my son a royal potty from Argos after visiting a friend when he was one year old and Although I considered him to be to young to consider potty training I did want him to have a potty around so that it was a familiar item. What is the Royal Potty? It is a potty that appears to be more comfortable than a normal potty as it is shaped liked a throne with arms and a back. It also has a splash protector at the front designed for little boys more than girls. It also has an additional function that is a fanfare sound when the child passes urine that is activated by the sensor. It is made with plastic that is easy to wipe. It also came with a sticker reward chart My experience First experience When I first bought the potty we were living in temporary accommodation so I...

Anglesey Abbey - NT Stately home near Cambridge

Advantages: National Trust, good for families, open all year around
Disadvantages: Lots roped off in winter, a bit expensive if you aren't a member

...Anglesey Abbey is not, as the name might suggest, an Abbey, nor is it in Anglesey. It is, instead, a National Trust stately home and gardens located about five miles Northeast of Cambridge near the small villages of Lode and Stow-cum-Quy. Pre-Henry the eighth, there was a priory here, but the house obtained its current form due to the work of Lord Fairhaven, in the 1920s and 30s. Depending on the time of year that you come, there are various attractions to see here, including extensive grounds of 46 hectares including gardens, lawns, the house, a second hand book shop, a gallery, and a working water mill. Unusually, the gardens are well worth a visit in the winter time, because one of the gardens here (called, appropriately enough, the winter garden) is actually full of evergreens and winter plants. Plus there is a restaurant, shop...

The Cambridge

Advantages: nice out side
Disadvantages: none

...The Cambridge Pub Liverpool The Cambridge located just between Liverpool and John Moores University is generally a quiet small pub where some students hang out. Mostly the ones who live on campus and is basically their local. The Cambridge serves a good variety of lagers and bitters but nothing stands out as a classic beer of this pub. The Cambridge is one of the more expensive places to drink on campus but is generally cheap for visitors to Liverpool. In the summer the Cambridge is a very nice lace to sit out on their benches just of Abercromby Square which is a bit of a heat trap. I remember lots of enjoyable afternoons their. The Cambridge does not have a pool table or darts and rarely plays music is a place to go for a quiet chat....

The Real Cambridge. Where People Live.

Advantages: Seeing the real Cambridge.
Disadvantages: It is a little run-down. Mind your wallet!

...This is an opinion of a part of Cambridge that many tourists miss. Did you know that Mill Road is the biggest third shopping area in Cambridge? Mill Road is a long road split in half by a railway bridge. It is an area of terrace housing and flats interspersed with businesses and shops, pub and drop-in centres. There are a wide variety of shops including specialist organic and ethnic, interspersed with the more main stream banks, pharmacies and even the post office. Mill Road has its fair share of problems. Mill Road provides a good example of the chronic; common resident’s problems across the City of Cambridge. Okay, so the police station is at the top end of Mill Road, but it does not deter the drunken lout or the speeding motorists. Many of Cambridge’s visitors never see Mill Road. Its shops are suffering with high...

The Cambridge Diet

Advantages: Fast weight loss
Disadvantages: MIGHT be bad for your health

...I went on the Cambridge diet last summer and lost 3 stones. I was once 12 st 12 & I went down to as light as 9 st 9, which is a really healthy weight for my height (5 ft 5). I'm currently studying at university & since my exams began, I've put on weight again. I put on about a stone! This diet was really good though, but not the healthiest diet so I wouldn't recommend you go on the sole source of the diet unless you SERIOUSLY need to lose weight. What's sole source? You eat virtually nothing. It consists of 3 or 4 Cambridge diets depending on your gender and height (I will explain this later once I've explained what you can eat). One thing that I liked most about this diet is that there are different stages of weight loss. Once you reach your goal, you can go up the stages of maintenance. When I was maintaining my weight, I...

Hotel Felix Cambridge - Great !

Advantages: Great food and accomodation, lots of facilities
Disadvantages: None

...We recently stayed at the Hotel Felix in Cambridge for the weekend and we had such a fantastic time so i thought as no one had written a review yet that maybe i should be the first!. The hotel is really easy to find and its only about a mile from cambridge city centre.. Hotel Felix is a traditional, large victorian building on the outside but its really modern looking on the inside. The hotel stands in really spacious surroundings and it has a large terrace and lovely gazebo for outside dining which is lovely especially when the weathers nice. We found all the staff to be very professional and friendly and we got checked in very quickly - about 5 minuites in total. The rooms were modern and minimilistic looking and were very spacious, our room was simply decorated and the colours were very neutral, the view from our...

The Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton

Advantages: great location, cheap, nice rooms, excellent food
Disadvantages: no parking, quite dated

...Introduction to the hotel: The Royal Albion Hotel was built in 1826 and is situated in a fantastic location opposite Brighton pier. It is a three star hotel and has 186 guest rooms offering views of Brighton beach or the town centre. My experience of the hotel: I spent one night in the hotel in January of this year and for a three star hotel I was quite impressed. I and my girlfriend booked a double room for £55 and it was a spacious room with a four poster bed, couch, satellite television, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a lovely modern bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath. When we checked in the hotel staff asked us if we would like to upgrade to a room with a Jacuzzi batch for £10, we said no, but were a bit intrigued to find one anyways - they had obviously given our room away and were trying to get the extra £10 out...

Nothing Royal about here!

Advantages: close to train station
Disadvantages: lots of things

...Royal National Hotel ? 3 star While we were in London on our honeymoon we had to stay over one night before we started our Cosmos tour of Europe (see review). One of the places that the tour met you at that we were told about was at the Royal National Hotel so we thought it probably would be easiest if we stayed at this hotel instead of trying to find it in a panic. So my husband booked it and it cost £99.50 online. This price also included breakfast. I have to say my first impression of this hotel wasn?t great the staff were not very helpful, pleasant or friendly. They did not seem interested in helping us and to be quite honest didn?t seem happy at all and had sour faces. When we arrived there was long queues with pushy angry and inpatient people. We had to wait about 40 minutes to check in which was rather annoying as we...
