..." delivery date, and a different person behind the counter advised me that it happens quite often - if the person delivering the mail is behind schedule, they won't make any attempt to contact the householder, and simply fill out a card and return the item to the sorting office to try and catch up on missed time. So now, I had to make a third trip on the Friday, and at long last, the item was available to for me to collect and take away. I have also written to Royal Mail with my concerns, with me receiving a fairly standard response letter, indicating that they will not compensate for time and money spent making the various trips to the sorting office, and that an internal investigation will be called for. Lets just hope that the forthcoming price increases will improve the service that we deserve. First class post is currently not first...

A posties view on Royal Mail!!!

Advantages: Deliver to most Destinations in uk the next day (if first class)
Disadvantages: Some mail lost or tampered with!!!

...to points around his walk so he does not have to carry it all. He then gets to the start of his walk either by foot, car or bus and starts delivery of his items. Whether its sunny, rainy, snowing, windy e.t.c. he will deliver his items. Delivery of his items can take anywhere between two and a half to five hours depending on the amount of mail he has and the conditions that he is delvery in. Also some posties are quicker than others. When he has finished his round he puts all the items he coulkd not deliver into a yellow pouch and this is posted or dropped in at a post office and gets sent back to him for tomorrow. This pouch will hold any recorded delivery items that he could not get a signature for and any items he could not get rid of because they was too big for the customers letter box. The Royal Mail is heading for a fall!

Advantages: ok for non-urgent, non-valuable mail

...I've known many lovely dedicated postpeople over the years, and I hope no-one will take personal offence at this, but I'm really angry, and £11.08 out of pocket so I will have my say! I was given a card by my postman this morning, buried amongst other letters - presumably so I didn't hold him up by querying it. It said that some-one had failed to put the correct postage on a letter, and since £1.08 was outstanding, I could a - Go online, pay and arrange delivery - I spent 15 minutes registering myself on the Royal Mail website and entering my card details, only to discover that the postman hadn't bothered to write on a reference number. If I wanted the letter delivered, I would have to wait in and provide ID. Its ADDRESSED to ME, for goodness sake! b. - Go out and buy £1.08 worth of stamps, attach them to the card, post it...

...I work for a small to medium sized company, which like many businesses these days relies on the postal service to deliver letters and small packages around the UK on a daily basis. Many of these items need to arrive the following day and since some are very light, e.g. tender documents we have always sent them by royal mail registered post or by their special delivery service. Until recently there have been very few problems but over the past few months the deterioration in both of these services has been startling and as a result I have been forced to consider alternative despatch methods, something which just 12 months ago would have been unthinkable. ...Well me personally, i have had many bad experiences with Royal Mail .The first one that springs to mind is the dissapearing mothers day card,only this year i posted of my mums mothers day card first class delivery,( which only cost me around 30p, which is very reasonable, i know) but i posted it on the thursday before mothers day(sunday) only to find when i phone my mum she never recieved her card and there for was not having the best mothers day. ...do not turn up.The customer probably thinks that I have received their letters when in fact I have not. Obviously by the very nature of what I am doing I accept that some people will say they have sent payment when in fact they have not.However such has been the large number of 'missing' payments that I feel for certain that misdelivery has taken place. I have complained to the Royal Mail customer services on two occasions.I have to say that the people who handle such calls were very polite and I did receive a letter(together with a free book of first class stamps)very promptly both times. ROYAL MAIL - Third Class!

Advantages: ermm....the name?
Disadvantages: Slow, ever increasing prices, delivery times

...Well for once, I'm going to have a good old rant, its not like me I have to admit but I am so angry at royal mail. I purchased a mobile phone as a present for my mother for her birthday. I got it off ebay and once the cheque had cleared the man whom I bought it from posted it first class last Thursday. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't First class used to mean next day delivery? So that means it should have come on Friday? Oh, but it didn't come Friday, then maybe Saturday? Nope, not Saturday either, then surely Monday? Nope, I would have thought so, but no. The thing is if I thought it was a one off I wouldn't be ranting so much but it seems that royal mail are just terrible when it comes to delivering parcels!
