...I thought I had better share my brief affair of 6 months with a 1995 Aprilia RS250. I am not going to bother going through the specs - you can get that info from numerous websites. When reading reviews it is important to understand what the product is like to live with on a dialy basis and find out what it does well and what it doesn't do so well. so....................... I bought one just for a bit of fun over the summer months - and what a big mistake it was. Riding the RS gives you horns, the handling is phenomenol. It is just so light and flickable that twisty roads are a pleasure. The tyre stick like the provrbial to the shovel and the engine just wants to be revved. Aprilia RS125 .

Advantages: Probably the fastest standard 125 available.
Disadvantages: Cost of the bikes.

...Well where do i start with this fantastic peace of Italian engineering. When i was 16 i used to own a scooter (50cc) which was pants by the way! so when i turned 17 i decided i wanted a 125 until i passed my driving test to drive a car. So i had a look about at a few bikes on the net and i was either going to buy a one of these chinese imports, brand new for around £1000 or buy a second hand well known make bike for about the same price. Then i seen these aprilia rs125 bikes and had herd by a lot of people that they were the fastest 125's you can get so i looked into it a bit more then decided i wanted one, not long after searching for one in my price range i found one on EBay for 2000 model for £450 i think it was but it had a few days left but i wanted to go and view the bike so my dad took me to view it with the cash just in case...

Bloody Awesome! The RS125.

The engine starts really well, it has a certain ‘whommpppp’ to it. It’s a Mark5 Escort L-plate and is a RS Turbo! The exhaust is the original and it does half beat out a mean sound! So I took the car out to town via the causeway which is like a dual carriageway, then I went to town. Now being about 8pm at night, things were kind of hectic, the roads were fairly busy and I had to get back to go out. So it’s Mission Impossible, can I make it back from town within 40minutes??? What a shed and to think I sold my K Reg Fiesta RS 1800I to get it!!!It was quick but noisy, unreliable kept breaking down, etc. I bought a K & N air filter for it and it was exactly the same but noisier!!! No more performance!!!I sold it to some mug in the end for 3 grand which cheered me up no end. I now have a Nissan Primera which is comfy and large. Its a bit slow though!!!...

Aprilia Rs125 Pure 2 stroke Italian Stallion fun

Advantages: Handling, Looks, Engine, Performance per cc
Disadvantages: High Maintenance, Use expensive Fully Synthetic oil

...I bought the bike as my second after learning on a Derbi Gpr50, a great bike in it's own right. The Rs125 is a great bike in many ways i love it because it handles so well and is very light and user friendly (once used to 2 stroke clutch slipping starts). The bike begs to be screamed every where you go and is only really happy once above 7.5k revs where it will sit all day as long as the maintenance schedule is followed religiously and Fully synthetic oil is used. (I recommend Motul 710 Fully Synthetic).IRO £13 a litre The only slight downside to the bike are the high maintenance in order to keep them reliable. Some younger more immature riders who don't take care will report back the Rs being unreliable but this is mainlyl to due to negligance.
