Obscure accessory for obsolete Olympus Digicams

Earlier Olympus Digital cameras used RS232c interfaces to connect directly to Personal Computers; my first semi-serious digital camera (an Olympus CAMEDIA C 960ZOOM reviewed previously) was one such example. Cameras of this vintage frequently have two 3.5mm jack sockets, one for Composite Video out (and feature a yellow collar) the other, for data is beige to match the cable. The cable is reasonably high quality, being roughly a metre long, and terminating in a 3.5mm jack plug at one end, and a 9 pin serial connection at the other. I actually didn't consider really the brand name as I had never really heard of Treakstor before and wasn't one hundred percent sure if they were reliable. However when I bought it in Currys last year and they had on offer many different memory capacities, ranging from 512Mb to 16Gb. About It Bascially 8GB can hold around 2,000 songs, 1,200-2,000 photos (depending on size of photos) and 4 hours of video. I paid £19.99 for the adaptor in PC world who only had Belkin at the time which I thought was not expensive. However installing it was a nightmare. The 3 easy steps on the box seemed so easy; Install the software, plug the adaptor into a USB PORT - start networking! If only it was that simple. Every time my computer searched for a network it crashed. I phoned the Belkin company who took me step by step through the technical part and still we could not get internet.
