...the first thing i would say is for all you england rugby fans this is the dvd for you.... i will let you relive that magical in sydney almost four years ago that you finally captured that allusive William Webb Ellis and stamped your authority on international rubgy. however by the fact i am welsh so there was, and still is that terrible sense of envy on what was achieved. you also get the added satisfaction of seeing the aussies getting beaten in there own back yard! horay! HEALEY'S BACK .. BUT NOT IN ACTION!

Advantages: FUNNY CLIPS - GOOD STOCKING FILLER FOR RUGBY FANS
Disadvantages: LASTS JUST UNDER AN HOUR

...Well I had this DVD for Christmas and watching it on Boxing Day and considering my family isn't the biggest bunch of Rugby fans they sure found it entertaining, funny and comical. The only problem I found with the DVD is when it starts before you know it your really into it and then it ends .. kinda like an Eastenders episode when you hear the drums at the end of a dramtic scene! All in all this is a good purchase filled with footage of all the legends such as Jonah Lomu, Gareth Edward, David Campese and many many more. It also includes footage of the Lions Tour of South Africa and shows footage of some games and some horrors they didn't want you to see. I'm not going to rant on about every tackle, maul or scrum mishap as it would be pointless buying the DVD if I told you about them all but there's some really funny clips in there...

Advantages: Lightwieght fun with a great cast

...Doctor In The House was the first in a series of movies starring the doctors of St Swithins Hospital in some form or other. This first foray follows the trials and tribulations of one Simon Sparrow (Dirk Bogarde) during his five years of medical training at the school/hospital. Amongst the first people Sparrow meets is Grimsdyke (Kenneth More) a perennial student who has no inclination to ever qualify as doctor. Grimsdyke and his friends are much more interested in other things than their studies. Taffy has rugby on his mind while Benskin only has time for women, nurses in particular. Sparrow is much more serious than they are but the high spirits the exhibit cant help but rub off on him. ...If it wasn't for the fact that I saw a trailer for Murderball, I think it's a film that would have completely slipped under my radar. Released in 2005 and filmed over 4 years, Murderball is a documentary that follows the US wheelchair or quad rugby team. On the face of it, you might expect this to be a fluffy, rose tinted and sympathetic view of quadriplegics but you'd be wrong. Instead we get an interesting, entertaining and honest incite into the lives of the team members and those on the perimeters of this intense sport. Murderball is the original name for wheelchair rugby which originated in Canada in the 1970s. Nowadays it is referred to as wheelchair rugby or quad rugby in the USA. Wild Child - Great Fun For Girls!!!

Advantages: Great movie for teens - some good one liners.
Disadvantages: Maybe a bit too girly?? Therefor limited audience.

...; something I think young girls will really enjoy watching. Comedy wise there are lots of laughs in there and I learned what a S.U.L.A was - you will have to watch to find out!! There was also a good scene on the lacrosse pitch with Poppy and her arch enemy Harriet squaring up to do battle!! The girls even perform the Haka, a chant performed by the New Zealand rugby team. I particularly liked the performance of Emma Roberts (who also starred in Hotel for Dogs) and think she is turning out to be a good 'teens' actress. If she was in any more movies of this genre, then I think that we would go and see them. She comes across as spoilt American brat really well. I also enjoyed the portrayal of Harriet (Georgia King) who was also perfect as the stuck up head girl. A special mention also needs to go to Natasha Richardson, who was the caring school...

Reclaiming The Stone Of Destiny

Advantages: Gentle comedy
Disadvantages: A bit twee in parts

...a reasonably enjoyable film and the collaboration with Ian Hamilton means that it is mostly historically accurate. It does a really good job of portraying the mood of the era and the costumes and effects were brilliant. It is a gentle film with no bad language or sex scenes which means that it is suitable viewing for all the family. It's a comedy of errors and there is a great deal of slapstick humour in there. The characters were stereotyped and had no real depth to them. Ian Hamilton is our all action hero who can do no wrong, Gavin progresses from hard drinking, belching rugby playing lout chosen only for his muscle to hero, Kay is the proud and feisty daughter of a crofter and hero but the worst stereotype of all is Alan where they take the geeky engineering student stereotype to the extreme.
