...Well as the war is still on going I found myself looking at the DVD's in need of something to watch. For some reason my eye was drawn towards Rules Of Engagement, not really sure why but it carries on nicely with the war theme, which seems to be developing through my latest ops. This time the destination is Yemen. The film is more of a courtroom Drama than an all out guns blazing make the American army look really good type of film. Of course unlike Black Hawk Down this is purely a film on true story or book adaptations here. It centres on the Court case of US marine Col. Terry L. ...I watched "the cider house rules" for the first time the other night. I must say that my early and initial reactions to the film were "why is Michael Caine not a cockney? He sounds silly" and "surely they could have gotten someone else other than Peter Parker to play Homer?". These fairly plausible questions and thoughts were soon extinguished and deemed pedantoic when i was soon drawn into this delicately steady story of an emotionally immune orphan and his release into the world. Michael Caine is Dr Wilbur Larch who runs an orphanage but also performs safe but illegal abortions, people travel there to add a child to their life or to prevent it from happening. Advantages: Wonderful story, good acting, great scenery
Disadvantages: A little more character development would be nice

...I suppose it is inevitable that, to fit a novel into a two-hour period, much of the detail and even significant parts of the story line must be left out. That is certain the case with 'The Cider House Rules'. John Irving?s novel had much more character development, naturally (as a book can always reveal the interior lives of characters much more fully than can any theatrical treatment), but I was a bit disappointed that significant plot developments (such as Homer?s relationships away from St. Clouds) were left out. So, in this case, do read the book?you?ll be glad you did. That disclaimer having been made, I thought that the movie was very good. Michael Caine gave his usual wonderful performance, but I was never quite clear what accent he was trying to bring about (being someone with a muddled accent myself, I am not really one to...

Advantages: one of the best game restaurants in the country
Disadvantages: a little pricy and can get very hot

Whilst there is no doubt that Childers gave the order, what is in doubt is whether his actions were reasonable and proper under the military rules of engagement, or whether he acted in haste. The film is essentially a game of two halves - the first half of the film is action-packed, from the opening scenes right through to the terrible climax of the Yemen Embassy incident. Thereafter the pace of the plot slows down to such an extent that the film struggles to hold your attention. Unlike other films that climax in a courtroom, there are no real twists or any added intrigue - the viewer is essentially sat waiting for the verdict. Hodges travels to Yemen to try to obtain evidence that the Yemen crowd was indeed hostile, but his trip seems to serve only to reinforce the fact that innocent people...

...Following the platinum sucess of Ja Rule's first album, Venni Vetti Vicci, he release the Rule 3:36 album in October 2000 and started his crossover into the commercial success he now knows well. On the Def Jam Label and produced by Murder Inc. INTRO ♫♪♫♪♫♪ Faint beat with Ja singing over the top about how he should kill himself and get it all over with and he'll be shocked if he grows old. It sounds quite good for an intro although does get a bit loud and shouty and is obviously a little bit sombre! Every line he says is repeated twice and sounds really effective.
