...V.C.Andrews is known for making a series of books. Usually four separate stories that eventually wind down a road and come together to make a fifth. The orphans' series was no exception. Four books titled Butterfly, Crystal, Brooke and Raven. Runaway brings it to a rocky, tooth rotting and predictable yet required conclusion. I would strongly recommend reading the four separate books before getting into this one as there are several references to the girls past and having a better understanding in the first place also enables you to enjoy the story more. Without getting into too much detail about what happened to the girls in the previous books I will try and tell you a little bit about them all. Runaway Jury

Advantages: entertaining film, well acted
Disadvantages: it's been done before

...The Runaway Jury: If you have ever been called up for Jury Service in the UK you know that the first few days at least are pretty boring, sitting in a room potentially for a great portion of the day without your name being called. And even if you do get called there is no guarantee that you will sit on a jury. I've done Jury service twice and I was lucky enough to be called twice, I have to say that it was interesting. As regular Joe public I've no idea about the ins and outs of selection except that if you know the person on trial then you let someone know and they let you go. However in the US it would seem that trying to influence who sits on a Jury seems to be big business, they try to influence verdicts by getting someone who is biased to their cause. ... Buying The Book I bought this book from a charity shop to further my collection of Virginia Andrews books. This was either written by the ghostwriter or published after her death. The Book Runaways is about four orphans girls in a care home. Brooke, Crystal, Raven and Butterfly. They each have their own stories, which are elaborated on in another book called Orphans. The girls live with Louise and Gordon Tooey and life is grim. They hate their lives and hatch a plan to steal his car and run away. It is very risky as they have no idea what Gordon will do to them if he catches them. Once on the road they head out to find their dreams. Runaway With Her Imagination

Advantages: Insightful, excellent writing, superb characters, profound understanding of humanity
Disadvantages: Too interesting to dip in and out of - you'll want to read in one go!

When it was announced that the Runaway Jury was due to be released as a film I decided to make the effort and see it. ...Runaway bride I am writing a review on the brilliant comedy Runaway Bride starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. The Film Itself A journalist played by Richard Gere, trying to get a story starts talking to a man in a bar, he tells him of a woman who ditches men at the alter. She likes to get them all dressed up as grooms before dumping them. So? he?s got a story. He writes a story based on the facts the man in the bar gave him, of how she meets men, gets them to the alter and then rips out their heart and dumps them on their wedding day before their wedding. However, the woman - Maggie Carpenter, he writes about finds out about the story and reports him to his editor, as there were numerous mistakes in his story. Runaway Movie

Advantages: Gripping, great cast.
Disadvantages: Some technical courtroom speak is a bit lengthy

Having the right personalities on the jury, is almost as important if not more important than having enough evidence to win the proper verdict. In Runaway Jury, Rankin Fitch (Gene Hackman)is the highest priced jury consultant around. He leaves no stone unturned, gathering life histories of potential juries, personality studies, and even goes so far as to placing surveillance on them with hidden cameras and undercover spies. Fitch believes that a verdict can be won, lost, or even bought with the right jury makeup. Runaway with this album

Advantages: Every song is an advantage
Disadvantages: Just that this album is not long enough!

...This album was released in 1989. Back then I was 5 years old- so music wasn't at the front of my priorities! Fast forward 15 years and in 2004 I was at work listening to the radio and a song came on that my ears were immediately attracted to. Once at home I relayed the lyrics into the internet and I discovered a song called 'Leave a light on' by a fabulous singer called 'Belinda Carlisle' Belinda Carlisle is an American artist, who first found fame in a band called the Go-go's. She is married to Morgan Mason, who's father is the well-known British actor James Mason, they have one son together. Not exactly a runaway success

Advantages: You know what to expect, and the two stars do their thing as well as they ever did
Disadvantages: You get exactly what you expect. Too predictable.

...Runaway Bride is to Pretty Woman what You've Got Mail was to Sleepless In Seattle. That is, it reunites its two leading stars with the same director, only the story and characters are unconnected to the previous, hugely-sucessful project. Pretty Woman was one of the highest-grossing films of 1990, and launched Julia Roberts into the realms of stardom while kick-starting Richard Gere's faltering career in the process. Ten years on, here they are again....but would it have been better not to tempt fate by trying to hit the jackpot a second time? On the evidence of Runaway Bride, the answer would have to be.....maybe. Or maybe not.
